Thank you to NubeOCHO and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Where’s My Broomstick? is a cute Halloween picture book that follows Simona the witch as she searches for her missing broomstick while trying to avoid a frightening ogre. Along the way she meets a cast of classic Halloween characters, making this a fun seasonal read for young children.

The story is simple and easy to follow, making it well suited for preschool through early elementary readers. The repetitive structure works especially well for read-alouds, encouraging children to participate as Simona continues her search. The colorful illustrations are one of the book’s biggest strengths, using bright Halloween colors and expressive characters to keep the pages engaging without ever feeling too spooky.

While the plot is fairly straightforward, the ending delivers a gentle reminder about kindness, helping others, and not making assumptions based on appearances. It isn’t a book that reinvents the Halloween picture book, but it succeeds as an enjoyable seasonal story that classrooms, libraries, and families can share together.

⭐ 3.5 stars (rounded to 4)

Recommended for: Preschool through 2nd grade readers, classroom Halloween storytimes, libraries, and families looking for a lighthearted, not-too-scary Halloween read.

Simona lost her broom in which she needs to fly away from the ogre who’s after her. This was a silly story and lesson that things aren’t always as they seem. The illustrations are great as well! This is a quick read for young children.

Where’s My Broomstick

Hi, new friend! This was such a fun adventure! It had us laughing from start to finish! My children and I thoroughly enjoyed every page.

This story was funny, sweet, and so relatable. I loved how the varying size and movement of the text helped propel the story forward, making it even more engaging for young readers. The characters’ expressive eyes were absolutely hilarious and added so much personality to every page. I can’t wait to buy a copy and share it with others!

Spoilers Below

Son: “My favourite part was when we got to find the broomstick, when the big guy helped, and when the monsters came over!”

Daughter: “I loved it when she lost her broomstick again!!”

Thank you to Marta Moreno, NubeOcho and NetGalley for the opportunity to read, enjoy, and review this Fun story!

This was so fun! It was easy to read, so silly, and I LOVED the illustrations. The repetition throughout the story is also nice for children to be able to read along. This would be a wonderful addition to my kiddo’s Halloween book collection.
I read this with my 4 year old and his review is: “5 stars! What I liked was the scary ogre that she thought was going to eat her! He gave her her broomstick and that was nice. Finding the broomstick was fun.”.
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for early access!

This was a cute and short book. The illustrations are very aesthetically pleasing. The words being consistent and short are very good for that younger age audience!

This was such a cute read! I loved the witchy Halloween theme, and it's the perfect book to pick up during the fall season. The illustration style was so unique and gave the story so much personality. I read it with my younger sister, and she had a great time with it. Her favorite part was the interactive ending that encouraged readers to find the hidden broomstick. Such a fun little touch! Overall, this was an adorable story that would make a great spooky season read for young readers.

It's a cute little book full of Halloween characters. It's a good independent read for early readers in 1st grade can probably read most of these words themselves except maybe ogre and the witches name simona. There is a lot to look at on each page which is good. It would be a decent pick for a kid who likes none scary Halloween.
Story wise there's not much to it it's very non eventful and repetitive so I wouldn't call it a must read or recommend it to anyone looking for read together books. Giving it a 3 because it's strictly a good recommendation only for early self reading of Halloween interested kiddos, not most kids.

In this adorable Children's Book, the little witch's broomstick is missing AND an ogre is chasing her! As she runs, she asks all our favorite scary characters if they've seen her broomstick. I smiled all the way through.

The beautiful, bright and colourful art work in the book is the perfect compliment of the simple story line. This book would be an adorable addition for any first library for babies 0-2 especially for the upcoming "spooky season". The simple sentences give care givers the opportunity to sit and read even when time and energy are running short on busy days while also leaving room for open conversation with slightly older listeners if the time allows. Great little read!
