This was such a feel-good read. The premise is a little wild . Two people with the same name turning up for the same job on a tiny island, but it somehow works in a way that’s sweet and thoughtful.
Both Charlies are going through a lot and looking for a fresh start and I loved how the story gave them room to just exist for a bit. Nothing felt rushed. Their connection builds slowly, with plenty of awkward moments, small talk, and quiet chemistry. It felt believable and honestly kind of soothing to watch it unfold.
The setting adds to the whole vibe . the island is quiet and a little isolated, and it gives the book a soft, introspective tone that fits perfectly with the characters’ emotional states. It made everything feel more personal, like the world had kind of paused for them to figure things out.
The romance is subtle and really well done. It doesn’t take over the story, but it definitely delivers. There’s warmth, tension and enough sweetness to make you care, without ever veering into cheesy territory.
If you’re looking for something light but not fluffy, heartfelt and just a genuinely lovely story about second chances and unexpected connections definitely pick this up. I am a big fan of this author's writing and you can't really go wrong with her book!
