Description

His name's on everyone's lips--sexy rocker Jack McCabe. His gritty New York City band is red hot, almost as hot as his fiery affair with photography student Lil Marchone, the girl from his past, now the woman he loves. The problem is, Lil's controlling ex wants her back. Rich, powerful, and ruthless, he'll stop at nothing--including murder--to get Jack out of her life. But Jack's a badass himself, always up for a fight. And with the stakes this high, he'll risk everything for Lil, even his band. Even his life.

A little taste of READY TO ROCK

Jack slid his hands up my thighs, captured my hips. “I love you, Lil. I’ve never said that to a woman before. I can’t give you everything I want to give you, the whole wide world. But I gave you my soul six years ago, and my body’s yours for the asking, to love you or shield you, whatever you need. All I have left to give you is my heart. It’s yours if you’ll take it. Hell, it’s yours anyway.”

ARC kindly provided by NetGalley for an honest review. it is the first time I read anything by this author. Jack and Lilianne story is very intense from the first time they met, the car crash that he saved her from that took her parents to the crazy ex-boyfriend that wants to get rid of Jack because he wants Lil and he will not let anything stop him. their connection and chemistry is immediate. it is filled with emotions. even anger, actually annoyance towards Lil for not having the courage to dump her boyfriend. all obstacles are thown in their way, groupies, her uncle, her ex, jealousy. well written. very intense .

Fuck me like you'll die if you don't...

Did that header get your attention? Well, for me, it was the word ROCK in the title that got my attention. I'm a rocker romance junkie and if I see that word, or a guitar on a cover, I'll usually give it a chance. I had never heard of this author before, but I am sooooo glad that I found her. I'll definitely be stalking her from now on. I floved this book hard.

While it was the rocker that I was anxious to meet when I started the book, it didn't take long for me to jump on the #LilTeam. After spending some time in her head, living through a traumatic event as seen through her eyes, she won me over. From that point on I was her most enthusiastic cheerleader, encouraging her to hurry up and find that rockstar that I read about in the synopsis. I already knew that he wouldn't have to win me over. What can I say, I'm a die-hard groupie. Deal with it.

Jack (aka Mac) was unlike any rockstar I had ever read about before. He was very unique. He was not an applause addict or a media hound. His music belonged to him and he just chose to share it. He wrote his own lyrics, revealing his heart, his pain, and his soul as he sang. But, one thing he did, that wasn't unique to a rockstar, was have a different woman every night.

Ready To Rock is a full-length novel. It took a long time to read. And since I couldn't put it down, my house and my sleep suffered. But hey, what can I say, it was sooo good! I laughed, I sighed, I gasped, I grinned, I blushed, I giggled, I held my breath, I bit my nails, and I even had a few Captive & Conquer fantasies. It was so much more than boy meets girl light-hearted read, it was a soul connecting, fight-for-love til death suspenseful page-turning addictive experience.

This is the first book I've read by Cara Connelly and I was definitely not disappointed. I'm a sucker for rockstar romances. I loved getting to know the characters, especially Lil after she lost her parents in a car crash when she was fifteen. Jack who saved her all those years ago is not your typical rocker who has a different girl every night. I loved the chemistry between these two characters and how they overcome all obstacles that are thown in their way, which include: Lil's uncle, her ex- boyfriend, groupies and jealousy. well written. This is a very well written story and I look forward to reading more of Cara Connelly's books in the future.

Yes, I am a rock romance groupie and damn proud of it so when I see a book titled “Ready to Rock: A Rockstar Romance” I am all over it like an eager groupie over is all over a hot musician. Little did I know that while Ms. Connelly met my prerequisite of a sexy as hell talented singer that she would give me so much more in this book. I have to admit that I haven’t read anything from her before but let me tell you she is going to the top of my must read list of authors.

This is a longer read which I haven’t been used to as of late and it was probably good going into this that I didn’t know it was an actual full length novel or I would have missed one of the best books I have read. I never lost focus once on Jack and Lil and how they met from the very first time until the last I hear of them taking yet another adventurous first class plane ride. (You have to read this to find out what some people actually do in first class which I am sorry to say is a thing that I will never have the pleasure of knowing.)

It’s hard to believe the opposites of this book because you are taken from some of the most heart wrenching scenes to some of the most exhilarating moments you would wish for. It gives you a glimpse at life of the uber rich and then takes you to the back hills where you survive off of things that you know of the land surrounding you. This book spoke of family and what it means to have a family whether genetically or by surrounding yourself by people who actually matter to you. It also shows you how it is possible to get past someone’s past without letting it hit you in the face every time you turn around. Love is amazing but love and lust is off the charts in this book.

So, for my fellow rockstar romance people this is another way to view some of the people in the music industry. It still gives you the feeling at being at an unforgettable concert and what goes on during and after the fact. For those people looking for a sexy novel that keeps you turning pages at all hours of the day and night don’t hesitate to pick this up and get taken away on one hell of a ride.

Sometimes I take a chance on a new to me author when the cover and blurb for the book interests me and I am so thrilled I checked this one out. Cara Connelly hit the big time with Ready to Rock: A Rock Star Romance which was a very different look at the world of a reluctant rock star and the woman whose life he once saved. This book had so many layers and as each one was peeled back the characters grew and changed as did their relationship. I loved this book from start to finish and despite the ups and downs of their journey the one constant was this seemingly unbreakable, unshakeable bond they shared. Without a doubt this book is one of my top reads for 2015.

Construction worker by day and rock star by night Jack (Mac) McCabe enjoys his dual life. He appreciates the hard work he does, the men in his crew and the families they share with him and his cousin he has guardianship over. Three to four nights a week Mac steps on stage as the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter of The Devils a highly popular bar band in New York City, one that has the potential to make it big except that Mac is not interested. Mac is a man whore plain and simple; he flat out admits he wants and needs sex frequently and he makes no apology about it. Mac has a wild past but when Lili reenters his life things begin to change.

Lilianne Marchone was one of those heroines that I was slow to warm up to. It wasn't that I didn't sympathize with her past, but she seemed a bit self centered and selfish especially with the way she manipulated Jack (Mac) into sleeping with her the first time and the way she handled the man she'd been involved with for years. What I did appreciate about Lili is that she supported all sides of Jack, she never held his past against him (and there were times it had to be hard for her not to) and she trusted him implicitly. I also loved that she accepted his cousin, Wyatt, as family immediately and reached out to help him in his life.

I can't even begin to explain the craziness that erupts in this book, but I will say that Lili's ex is crazy, the uncle that raised her is a pretentious jerk, Jack's bevy of conquests include some not so nice women and always remember that at anytime anything you do can be photographed or recorded and might come back to haunt you. While this was a romance of pretty epic proportions there were elements of mystery, quite a bit of suspense and some banging good times in and out of the sack.
Throughout this book I was amazed at Jack and Lili's strong bond, their unwavering respect and admiration for one another and the absolute trust they had in one another and with them I laughed, I screamed, I sighed and I cried.

A fantastic journey of two people from very different backgrounds whose lives crossed paths not once but twice changing them both forever, Ready To Rock is a book you do not want to miss and one I know I will enjoy time and time again; it is just that good!
