Description

"A rich tapestry of epic storytelling that will leave you wanting more."

—J.C. Cervantes, New York Times bestselling author of The Storm Runner series

When eighteen-year-old relic thief Satya steals an ancient resurrection artifact from the Golden King, she uncovers his dark secret: he's a puppet to a soul-harvesting sorcerer who is building an undead army—one that includes her fallen family.

Her escape through the treacherous Sophene Highlands leads her to Rei, an enemy warrior whose haunted history is intricately woven with her tragic past. As forbidden love blossoms amidst a divine war, Satya discovers that the legendary relic holds dual powers. Now she faces an impossible choice: resurrect her family by sacrificing her soul, or save the kingdom and lose them forever.

Caught between gods and demons, love and duty, Satya must decide what price she's willing to pay for the dead.

Some legends refuse to stay buried. Some choices demand everything.

Advance Praise

"Light Weaver by Lusine Torossian is a compelling read that captivated me from beginning to end. The writing style was engaging, allowing me to feel part of Satya's adventure as I became fully immersed in her world.

Magic was intricately woven into the storyline, integrating as if it were a natural element. The characters were well-crafted and relatable. Satya showed strength and determination, giving her all as she evolved and prepared to embrace the responsibility thrust upon her. The book was beautifully written and honored Torossian's Armenian heritage and culture. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and am still absorbing the experience."

"Magic, mythology, and the weight of legacy entwine in Lusine Torossian's Light Weaver—a stunning fantasy adventure that pulses with emotional depth, cultural reverence, and dark, high-stakes tension. Light Weaver is not simply a fantasy novel—it's a woven tapestry of oral tradition, folklore, and imaginative reinterpretation.

In the end, Light Weaver is a love letter to lost legacies, fierce daughters, and the power of storytelling to reclaim what was forgotten. It's perfect for fans of cultural fantasy, coming-of-age tales, and readers who believe that even in the darkest night, a single thread of light can lead the way.

This fantasy is a fun read. It includes various magic spells and results. The characters are well developed. The main character does some reflecting. She realizes maybe she should see circumstances with a different perspective. It was very refreshing to read about a woman who is not always angry. It is good versus evil, and the ending is satisfying. I'm glad I read it.

First, thank you NetGalley and Lusine Torossain for the Advanced Listener Copy!

“Light Weaver” is a gorgeous fantasy that pulls you into a world inspired by Armenian mythology, which was not a mythology that I was familiar with originally. I enjoy stories that are weaved in with mythology and legend and this story did not disappoint. The story follows Satya on an emotional, magical adventure full of danger, family legacy, and self-discovery. The writing is rich and lyrical, and the worldbuilding is absolutely stunning, the songs for magical use simply beautiful. The unique magic system, cultural depth, and heartfelt themes make this a really enjoyable read. If you love myth-inspired fantasy with vivid imagery and a strong heroine, this one’s worth picking up! The narration of the audiobook is wonderful.

Light Weaver by Lusine Torrosian was an incredible book from start to finish. Satya and her father are on a mission to bring bath her mother and little brother from the dead but when they are caught stealing from the golden king and Satya's father is taken and killed, she is forced to flee her village with her school teacher. He brings her to another village full of warriors and Sacreds, a group of magical people long thought to be extinct from the world. To protect the people still living in this world and to protect those she has grown to care for and love, Satya must dig deep to find the power living in herself. This is when she discovers sometihng about herself that she never thought was possible.

I really loved that even though there was a minor undercurrent of a possible romance, the book mainly focuses on Satya's development and how she comes into her powers. We get to see her grow into a formidable Light Weaver and we get to see the depth of her character. At her core, she is just a girl with a really big heart and a desire to save everyone.

There were a few times I was lost in the story, but since I listened to the audiobook, it's very likely that I spaced out without realizing it. This is a great book for anyone interested in fantasy with high stakes, rich world building, and characters you will love.

I also really love that this is based on Armenian mythology, which I know next to nothing about but after reading this book I am intent on learning more!

Thank you to Netgalley and Whisperweave Press for the ALC. All thoughts are my own!

I really loved Light Weaver and found the audiobook a wonderful way to experience this story. One of the strongest aspects of the book is its use of Armenian mythology and folklore, which felt fresh and thoughtfully woven into the storyline. I especially enjoyed learning more about the mythological elements of the culture and how they shaped the characters and the world they inhabit. The narration complemented the story well, bringing emotional depth and clarity to the unfolding plot. The pacing kept me engaged throughout, and the narrator’s delivery helped highlight both the quieter, reflective moments and the more intense, high-stakes scenes. The storyline itself is compelling and immersive, blending mythology and character-driven storytelling in a way that feels both meaningful and entertaining. By the end, I was fully invested in the world and the characters, and I found myself hoping there will be more to come. This audiobook left me eager to continue the journey if the story is expanded further.

I would recommend Light Weaver to listeners who enjoy mythological fantasy with strong world-building and a sense of wonder.

Thanks to NetGalley for the audiobook to preview.

Thankyou to Lusine and Netgalley for the advance listener copy!

Lightweaver is a wonderful blend of Armenian culture, descriptive worldbuilding and a unique magic system involving the weaving of tapestries. It was a pleasant change to read a romantasy based on another culture's mythology and gods, not just fae and dragons!

The writing is quite lyrical at times, which conveyed the beauty of the world and magic system. However, this made the story a little difficult to follow, especially in an audiobook format where you can't easily flick back to an earlier page to remind yourself of key information. I had to work to recall and understand the characters and worldbuilding, which meant that this was the type of audiobook that needed my full attention.

The narrator was a brilliant choice for this book. She seamlessly incorporated a wide variety of voices into her narration, making it easy to follow the dialogue of each character. Emotion and emphasis were conveyed through her words, and she had a lovely musical voice when reading the enchantments!

As someone who generally reads adult romantasy, it was refreshing to read a fantasy book where the plot takes the forefront. There are still some tender moments, yearning and realisation of feelings with the romantic interest, but they do not overtake the mythology and magic of the story. The main relationships in this book are those between Satya and her family, mentors and friends.

The star of the book is Satya's character development as she comes into her own with her Lightweaver powers and family legacy. She faces the losses of her family but does not allow it to change her into someone angry and seeking revenge like many fantasy FMCs. Instead, she remains kind but determined to use her new powers to save others, with a quiet strength that serves her well throughout the story.

Characters: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Plot: ⭐⭐⭐️⭐/5
Romance: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Key tropes: found family, hidden identity, family legacy, strong FMC

Perfect for readers who love:
✅ Rich culture and mythology
✅ Found family and mentor/mentee dynamics
✅ High-stakes fantasy
✅ Unique magic system

I was given access to this work in audio book format from NetGalley free of charge in return for an honest review.

I was drawn to the cover art it looked like a woven tapestry . beautiful rich colors and the stunning flowers and white doves. with the intricate golden symbols then the blackness of the coiled shadow serpants it was bold and it drew me back to it several times. I wanted to know what story was waiting to be told , in the end i gave in and I found myself in the midst of an amazing adventure.

As with all audio reads I will start off by saying the narration is excellent. I adored this particular read even more because it was done by the author themselves so there was no guessing at pronunciations of names and places as is some times the case with things. Because she wrote it she knew exactly how it was ment to sound.

When I first picked up this story I never expected to find myself in the midst of a hiest nor an epic tale of Godpower used to entrap the souls of the dead or transform and corrupt living souls into terrifying monsters. But that is exactly what I got when I met eighteen-year-old relic thief Satya and her father in the middle of making their way into a treasury room of none other than the evil Golden King. They have searched the the kingdoms for a relic of myths and folklore for an ancient resurrection artifact all in the hopes of returning her mother and brother to life . Instead they are caught her father sacrifices himself to ensure Satya and the relics get away and she uncovers The most highly guarded secret in all the lands The King is nothing more than a monster: puppet to a soul-harvesting Priest sorcerer who is building an undead army—one that includes her fallen family.

Following Her escape The Kings halls, and her home city through the treacherous Sophene Highlands leads her to Rei, an enemy warrior whose haunted history is intricately woven with her tragic past. As forbidden love blossoms amidst a divine war, Satya discovers that the legendary relic holds dual powers. Now she faces an impossible choice: resurrect her family by sacrificing her soul, or save the kingdom and lose them forever.

Some legends refuse to stay buried. Some choices demand everything.
I really enjoyed this read it was amazing . The verses and bits of lore at the start of each chapter really helped to make the setting feel more real and alive. The mythology is based on Aremina myth and folk lore and was a really neat introduction to that as it was compleatly new to me and even as it was introduced it didnt pull me out of the story.

Amazing audio book. Loved the coming of age magical story. Slow burn, forbidden love mystery. It’s a story everyone can relate to with learning the consequences of trusting those in power, having magic and gaining power. Definitely made me more curious about Armenian mythology.

This was a very interesting book! I loved the folklore and dark fantasy elements. I had a difficult time paying attention to the audiobook. Towards the last 35% I was definitely more into it and that is why I’m giving 4 stars. The subplot no spice romance was sweet. The magic was very unique. I think I would like to read the physical copy!

A classic light vs. dark story with Satya discovering her powers and fighting the darkness. I very much enjoyed listening to Light Weaver. Erin really brought Lusine's world to life.
I liked that the book included small proverbs, song excerpts, etc, at the start of each chapter to provide more information about the world and added depth to the story.

Bullets of things I would want to know:
- 1st person, Single POV
- magic items & deity derived magic system
- female heroine

My favourite characters (if spelt wrong, I listened to audiobook- sorry!):
Mona
Rahman
Satya
