This is so cute, the illustrations are amazing, the colours are stunning.
Only issue i have is that the white lettering for the writing is hard to see when reading.
A simple story, with roots in many different folk tales. The art is what really sets this book apart. I also love the specificity of the birds mentioned. It almost feels as if the art and the upbeat rhyming text go with two completely different books, but still very sweet and lovely.
The Magic Feather is a gentle fairytale-like story that blends magic with an inspiring message about caring for nature. Julia Donaldson’s rhyming text flows beautifully, making it a pleasure to read aloud, while the lush illustrations bring the birds and landscapes vividly to life.
The idea of a child who can understand birds feels sweet and thoughtful, encouraging empathy and environmental awareness in young readers. Calm, imaginative, and visually stunning, this is a lovely choice for children who enjoy magical adventures with a meaningful heart.

this was so cute! the illustrations were absolutely amazing, it wasn’t too boring, and I definitely enjoyed it more then most picture books. the inky reason it isn’t 5 stars is because this just isn’t my type of book- while yes, maybe ten years ago I would have loved it, im definitely too old for it, but I can still appreciate that it’s a great book!
I really enjoyed The Magic Feather by Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Catherine Rayner.
The story is fun and entertaining and the illustrations delightful.
This book would be appreciated by boys and girls alike. It is a story that will teach them about birds, environment as well as magic and principles.
I am confident that is the kind of story that kids will be asking parents to read over and over.

This was sweet. The illustrations felt very nostalgic, and I loved the rhyming scheme of the prose. It was a cute, magical story that I think many kids would like.

Anything by Julia Donaldson is gold. Of course it's a story in rhyming verse and it's absolutely beautiful. Fear not, even if you are used to her working with a different illustrator! This story is more of a whimsical journey than many of her others, and the illustrator (award-winning Catherine Rayner) did the most incredible job. Using a mix of watercolour painting and coloured pencils, all of the birds and nature are so beautiful that you will fall in love with her work. Will definitely be recommending this ones, as well as adding it to my own collection!
