Description
A beautifully illustrated fairy tale about kindness, transformation, and adventure.
Plumelet is a captivating fairy tale for children aged 5-10, written and illustrated by the author.
This enchanting story follows Plumelet, a spoiled young princess who takes her privileged life for granted, treating those around her with disdain. One day, she insults a mysterious old woman at the palace gates—unaware that she is actually a powerful witch named Gargoyle. As punishment, Gargoyle casts a spell that makes Plumelet weightless, and her servant, Cold Wind, carries the frightened princess far from home.
Swept into a world of magic and adventure, Plumelet finds herself trapped in an enchanted castle—a labyrinth of salt and pepper—where she must navigate unexpected challenges and encounter both kind and mischievous magical beings. Through these trials, she begins to understand the consequences of her selfishness and learns the value of kindness and friendship.
Featuring stunning, surreal illustrations that blend elements of classic book art, board game design, and realism, Plumelet is a visual and storytelling delight. Readers will be captivated by its imaginative world and the heartwarming journey of a young girl discovering the true meaning of compassion.

What an adorable story.
The art worker was amazing and needs to be seen.
The story itself was super sweet and taught about kindness. This is a great book for your primary school kids
"Plumelet" is a visually enchanting and morally rich picture book that stands out for both its stunning illustrations and its thoughtful message. The story follows a spoiled and capricious royal who learns the importance of kindness and empathy after a witch’s curse sends her on a surreal journey to a gray, flavorless castle. Along the way, she faces strange challenges and discovers that politeness and compassion are her keys to returning home.
Victoria Fomina’s artwork is absolutely gorgeous, full of vibrant colors, clever details, and a unique collage-like style that makes every page a feast for the eyes. The contrast between the joyful kingdom and the dreary castle is especially striking, and there are lots of hidden gems in the backgrounds for curious readers to find.
The book’s message about the power of kindness and the consequences of our actions is perfect for kids ages 4 to 8, and it’s a great choice for reading aloud or for early readers.
Highly recommended for families and classrooms looking for a beautiful book with a meaningful lesson!

Plumelet was a book entirely unique to me. With a kind of wistful fairytale-like art, but at the same time surreal and nightmarish. It is seemingly done with mixed media (?) For the fabulous art alone, the book is worth a look.
There is a clear moral to the story; be polite and thankful to people. Plumelet, the rude little princess was cursed by a witch for her bad behavior and sent off to an odd castle. The book gets increasingly surreal at this point. Plumelet meets a similarly cursed and banished soul in the form of a unicorn, and together they fly off home, and have learned their lessons. Happily ever after, just like a true fairytale.

This was a really good story that was a bit quirky and different to the numerous books out there in this genre.
I liked the idea behind this story and it was a little reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast at the start for me in that the Princess was cursed, by a witch in this case, who was disguised as an old lady, who the Princess went on to mistreat. A spell was cast but then it takes its own path and has a well developed story.
The book has some good messaging as the princess has to work her way back and to do this she faces a number of challenges that ultimately help her to discover that politeness and compassion are her way of returning to her own Castle - along with the help of a magical unicorn that is!
The illustrations worked well with the story and they helped to bring the story to life. The story was well written, it was easy to follow and understand.
It is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!
Plumelet by Victoria Fomina has wonderful illustrations and is a great story. The story was weird at times but my one year old seemed to love it which is what matters.
Some of THE most beautiful artwork I have ever seen, especially in a children’s book! The story itself is just as magnificent - a wonderful tale of princesses and fairytales and unicorns, with a great lesson on kindness and gratefulness. Truly a joy not only for children, but for whoever gets to read this beautiful book to them as well! I can see this being a book I recommend to every parent I know. I can’t wait to go back and just look at the art, picking up new pieces of beauty with every turn of the page!
