Description

June Calvin's enchanting Regency romance follows one woman's fight for freedom against a society determined to chain her.

Eden Henderson has crafted a new life as a governess, hiding from the shadows of her past. When she meets the charming and rebellious Earl of Dudley, Roger Brentwood, she discovers a kindred spirit who challenges everything she believes about love and trust. But her carefully constructed world begins to crumble as her past threatens to destroy not only her future but everyone she holds dear.

Set against the glittering backdrop of Regency London, this novel explores themes of female autonomy, healing from trauma, and found family.

Can Eden trust her heart to a man who guards secrets of his own? As danger closes in and society threatens to expose her, she must choose between protecting herself and embracing the love that could be her salvation. The clock is ticking, and Eden's very life hangs in the balance.

This regency romance set on the cusp of reform in England is extremely unexpected. The banter between the characters draws you into their world to the point that you would love nothing more than to pull up a chair and join them in their fight for women and children’s rights. It shows the horror of domination and oppression and what people will do to escape such tyranny. But it’s not all dark. The main male lead has such a witty personality and the supporting characters keep you engaged as well. I definitely would recommend this wonderful book!

"Introduce me to my family, Sir."

My heart melted. This book was very sweet and I greatly enjoyed being along for the ride. Eden is such a sweet character and even after what she endures. The banter is adorable and her relationship with Brent is very cute.

I unfortunately ruined the secret for myself pretty early on but I still enjoyed the book immensely. The dowager duchess is definitely my favourite character but I adored Isabella.
Its not a light story in parts but it is still a very pleasant read and I would recommend to anyone looking for casual Sunday afternoon read. A cup of tea and this book; you are in for a grand time!
