One of the biggest resolutions I set for myself this year was to keep my whole family fit and more active. I love yoga so it is only natural that I seek out yoga for kids for my children so they can join in on the fun. The ABC's of YOGA for Kids is the perfect book for my 8 year old daughter and 6 year old twin boys. I love that these are traditional yoga poses but given a "kid" spin on things by the renaming of poses to fit the alphabet format. There are several fun games and activities to keep being active a fun practice for kids. My only complaint is that the book is a little short, otherwise I would rate it 5 stars instead of 4, but this will be a good start! I recommend this book to parents of children ages 4-8.

I really like the look of this simply written but thorough, and safety conscious, book of yoga poses for children, which includes suggested poses for children with disabilities. The book speaks about the benefits of yoga generally, the benefits of each pose, and suggests yoga plans for various age groups.
Because I downloaded this onto my kindle, all of the illustrations were not available, and so I'm going to purchase this book in paperback, when it is released in April intending initially to use it for myself. I notice it has already been published in hardback and that there are learning cards, and even a colouring book available. Great!
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a delightful little book introducing young children to yoga posses and explaining the importance of it to parents. Poses are clearly described and and it even give you an idea of what to tell children while doing it. If you find yourself struggling to understand described position, let me tell you, illustrations in this book will show it all. (illustrations are so good, you don’t even need to read the book ;) )

Yoga is an amazing too to wind out children, help them to focus and increase their awareness of their own body. As an Early Childhood Educator this is a wonderful tool I will definitely incorporate into my curriculum!

By the way, did you know that this book is suitable for adults too? If you always fancied trying yoga, but didn’t want to commit to expensive classes, look no further – you can benefit from this book too.

This book is fantastic! I cannot say how much I adore it. I use the ABCS of Yoga for Kids in my yoga story time, so I had some idea what this book was going to be about. It was full of great tips and games to get kids fired up about yoga! I can't wait to use everything I read!

This book is useful introduction to teaching yoga for novice parents and educators. The sample lesson and classification of yoga poses into four main categories are particularly helpful in allowing educators to easily design lesson plans. Some of the authors claims about the benefits of yoga seem overreaching without being sufficiently supported by data ("Yoga is also a healthy alternative to medications used to treat children with ADHD"). Also, as this book is intended to be a companion to The ABCs of Yoga for Kids, most of the poses are not illustrated or explained. Overall, though, I would recommend this book as a beginner's guide to teaching yoga for collections that already own The ABCs of Yoga for Kids.

This book is a companion to ABCs of Yoga for Kids, a picture book that uses the alphabet, rhyming and colorful illustrations to introduce children to yoga.

This book has a few cute ideas for classes for kids relying heavily on the ABC's of yoga book. If you are new to teaching yoga or someone just starting out teaching yoga to kids this is a nice companion book that gives some great explanations as to how yoga can help children with Autism, ADHD, and also just the every day stress that kids these days have. There are great ideas for activities that unplug kids and teach them ways to help move their bodies, learn breath techniques and meditations that can help them throughout life. Children who learn these techniques early in life will have lifelong skills to help them relieve stress and bring awareness to their bodies. Yoga also helps teach kids about living a healthy lifestyle in a fun and non-competitive way.

This is a nice starter book for teacher or parents of young children who would like to incorporate some fun stress relieving movement into a classroom. Even in a normal everyday school schedule a 10 minute break doing a few of these fun exercises can really help kids focus and retain more.

Activities are described a little vaguely so I would suggest you are familiar with the ABC's of Yoga for Kids book. Since the poses names are the ones used in her book and not necessarily the mainstream yoga pose name you may not know what pose she is talking about. There are several illustrations of poses in the book but I still suggest buying this book as a set instead of on its own.

I feel like many of these activities would be good for pre-school to kindergarten age children.
