Description
"Vanished, Dr. David Jeremiah's apocalyptic thriller, swept me into a world teetering on the edge of eternity . . . I couldn't turn the pages fast enough." --Colleen Coble, Publishers Weekly and USA TODAY bestselling author
In this gripping sequel to Vanished--and the second installment in Dr. David Jeremiah’s three-book apocalyptic thriller series--a global power rises, and the ancient prophecies of the Antichrist are set in motion.
Two years have passed since millions across the globe disappeared in a heartbeat including John "Haggs" Haggerty's own family. Haggs, a military expert in pandemics, warned his agency of growing patterns in deadly epidemics and other threats to security. Then the "Great Disappearance" and the nuclear destruction of the US changed everything. Now he is invited to join the powerful Trident Group, led by the wealthy Matthias Vilks.
Inside Trident, Haggs sees patterns that suggest a coordinated plan to control economies and governments. He is not alone. Israeli tech expert, Saul Katz, saw his colleague disappear before his eyes. Now the Israeli government confiscates his life's work, a defense system for Israel. Li Fan, monitoring seismic anomalies, sees terrifying signals in the earth's activity, but no one will listen to her warnings.
As the disturbing pieces fall in place, governments fall, and John and his best friend's daughter, Abigail, begin to see those prophecies from scripture come to life--Israel is in danger, natural disasters rake the planet, and world leaders bow to one powerful man. The signs are clear: the end times are no longer approaching--they have begun.
New York Times bestselling author Dr. David Jeremiah returns with more apocalyptic action and emotion that's infused with his signature perspective and compassion.

Shattered is the gripping second installment in the Vanished series—a fictional yet biblically grounded exploration of the end times. The story opens in the immediate aftermath of the Rapture, picking up seamlessly where book one left off.
John Haggerty, a doctor introduced earlier in the series, is consumed by grief and vengeance after losing his entire family in the Rapture. Although many know that only Christ-followers disappeared, a growing movement now claims the event was nothing more than the result of a new global pandemic. Caught in his uncertainty, John finds himself working alongside the self-proclaimed Anti-Christ.
Saul Katz, a scientist also left behind, undergoes a profound transformation and joins the rapidly expanding group of new evangelists. Meanwhile, Abigail Hart—who lost her husband and infant son—never doubts what caused the “Great Disappearance.” She has built a thriving underground network of believers who are courageously spreading the truth.
This fast-paced, compelling story blends faith, courage, and the eternal battle between good and evil during the perilous days of the Tribulation. It’s an absorbing continuation of the series and a powerful reminder of hope in the darkest times.

A Look at "Shattered"
"Shattered" is the second installment in Dr. David Jeremiah's "The Vanished" series, a fictional exploration of the end times. This Christian futuristic thriller is set in a world still reeling from the Rapture, where ancient prophecies are unfolding and the Antichrist is consolidating his power.
The novel follows two central characters on their perilous journeys. Saul Katz, a brilliant scientist, finds his life transformed as he is chosen to be one of the 144,000 evangelists. Meanwhile, John Haggerty, who was introduced in the first book of the series, "Vanished," is on a path of vengeance. He holds the Antichrist, Matthias Vilks, responsible for the destruction of America and his own profound personal losses.
"Shattered" delves into themes of:
•Faith and Courage: In a world succumbing to darkness, the characters must rely on their faith to resist the forces of evil.
•Prophecy and Redemption: The novel weaves a narrative of intertwining prophecy, betrayal, and the hope for redemption.
•The Rise of the Antichrist: The story provides a fictionalized account of how the Antichrist, a charismatic but malevolent leader, comes to power.
Dr. David Jeremiah, a renowned pastor and author of over fifty books, is known for his extensive work on biblical prophecy. In "The Vanished" series, he brings his theological insights to a fictional narrative, creating a story that is both a thrilling page-turner and a reflection on biblical end-times prophecy.
I really enjoyed this book and couldn't get enough of it! The way Dr. Jeremiah blends suspense with biblical themes is captivating. I can't wait for the next book in the series to see what happens next.
Please note: "Shattered" is scheduled for release on June 16, 2026, and is currently available for pre-order. For those new to the series, it is recommended to start with the first book, "Vanished," to get the full context of the story.

Shattered is book two of Dr. David Jeremiah’s speculative account of soon-coming prophetic events, and this series is for anyone watching world events as they unfold; as timely as any news source. While the characters are fictitious, the basis for the novel is from the book of Revelation, and the tone of the book is informative, enlightening and inviting further study, while keeping you on the edge of your seat. Vanished, the first novel, was a page-turner, and this second has not disappointed. Now to wait for book three…

SHATTERED is the second novel in the Vanished series by DR DAVID JEREMIAH and I can’t wait for the next one! It is an exciting and gruelling read as we see the rise of the Antichrist and False Prophet, who use the Trident group to control those who have been left behind after the Rapture of the church. We also see the minitry of Abigail Hart and the World Wide Way, which consists of like-minded believers, as opposed to her “Uncle” John Haggerty, a doctor who joins the Trident Group and is caught up in a world of lies. There is also Saul Katz, who has become a believer in Yeshua, to name a few of the characters. ……
The author is a well known Bible teacher who is well versed in End Time prohecy, and the story is totally based on the truth of God’s Word. The book is full of relevant verses, mostly from Daniel and Revelations, which help us to understand the coming horrors of the Great Tribulation.
I cannot recommend this brilliant book strongly enough.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. This is the second in a series and details what happens after the Rapture of the Church. Such a scary time. He brings the end times to life in a very real way. Hopefully there's another book coming.

I really enjoyed this second book in this series. I was waiting impatiently for this book once I finished the first book.
My wait was worth it. This book was incredible. If you read the first book, you know you must read this one. If you haven't read the first, go back and read that first. This isn't a book/series to read out of order.
I highly recommend this series to anyone.
This is an excellent continuation of the novel Vanished. Tribulation is described believably; the characters are relatable. Great storytelling about the things to come.
I'm looking forward to the next part of this great series.

I had been looking forward to reading this book since I finished the first one in the series last year and it did not disappoint. The plot is too close for comfort with all that is going on in the world. The Rapture or Great Disappearing has happened and the Rise of the AntiChrist is happening. This is a page turner and you will want to make sure you have read the first book in the series before this one to give you the background details on what is happening. Looking forward to what comes in the next book!
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this in advance.
I really enjoyed this book; it was even better than the first one. It’s about the first half of the 7 year tribulation. Very suspenseful, full of the unexpected, even though you half-way know what’s going to happen, if you have read Revelation. Definitely a work of fiction, it kept me on the edge of my seat! Can’t wait for the next one!
Shattered" is book 2 in "The Vanished" series by Dr. David Jeremiah co written with Sam O’Neal. The series explores what may happen during the end times based on Biblical fact. Shattered takes up where Vanished left us, with the world still reeling from the Rapture. Ancient prophecies are happening and the Antichrist is growing his power.
The novel picks up from the Vanished with Saul Katz, a brilliant scientist. Saul finds his life transformed as he is chosen to be one of the 144,000 evangelists. Meanwhile, John Haggerty, also from book one, is on a path of vengeance. He holds the Antichrist, Matthias Vilks, responsible for the destruction of America as well as his own personal losses.
Dr. Jeremiah deals with faith and courage in a dark and desperate world where characters must rely on their faith to resist the forces of evil. In a haunting manner, readers are exposed to prophecy, betrayal, and hope for redemption. Scary and jarring is the Rise of the Antichrist depicted in a fictionalized account of how the Antichrist, a charismatic but malevolent leader, comes to power.
All this from the scholarly and renowned point of view of pastor Dr. Jeremiah, He has penned another thrilling page-turner, giving readers a look into biblical end-times prophecy.
The co authors have blended captivating text into intense suspense all with biblical themes.
“Shattered" scheduled for release on June 16, 2026, is not a stand alone read, so grab your copy of The Vanished to read prior in order to understand the full context of the story and the well developed characters.

“The time has come to pick a side.”
Characters old and new come together to create a vivid picture of what the tribulation could look like with the technology and knowledge we have in today’s world. The beginning was a little slow and wandering, but increasing action kept me turning pages. The second half was impossible to put down, while the ending left me so stunned I read it more than once. I definitely cannot wait to see what the next book holds. I need to know what happens! A spectacular series from Dr. David Jeremiah!

This is a page turner. I liked it more than I did the first book even though the first book was also very good. We see what it might look like for those who are left behind after the disappearances. What feelings, choices, and situations will these people face? Will scientists continue to rely on their theories? Will people seek vengeance and to whom? There is a lot of courage displayed in the characters and there is a haunting quality in those who choose to side with evil. I would recommend this read to anyone who is studying the books of Daniel, Isaiah, and Revelations and wonders what it might look like.

This hard-hitting apocalyptic novel begins the story where the first book in the series Vanished ended, so I highly recommend that you read the series on order. In this book John Haggerty and Abigail take center stage as the opposition to the appearance of the Antichrist and the destruction that he and his minions want to reap on the earth. The story is not totally Biblical but it is definitely Biblically based, with fiction interspersed with scriptural truths. If you have read Matthew 24 and Revelation, you will notice that the events of the end times are well and mostly accurately portrayed. The characters are realistic and relatable as the ones left behind after the Rapture. The action is fast-paced and mostly centered around Israel. There is a great deal of use of technology to spread the word about the “rebels” and this rang true to me even though it isn’t specifically in the Bible because technology is rampant these days already so I can see how it could be used for both good and evil during the time of the Antichrist. The book is intense but a completely clean read and a must-read for those who enjoy stories about what will happen before the end of this age.

John "Haggs" Haggerty's own family disappeared in the "Great Disappearance".. Well-known End Times scholar, Dr.. David Jeremiah, started the series with Vanished and this is part 2 of this modern "left behind" series. The author has turned all of his knowledge avout the end times into a nail biting fiction series, and it kept me up to see how this installment ended. I hope that there are more to come. I did not read the first book before this one, but the author gave enough backstory to understand the characters and times, but I will go back and read the first book at some point. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for offering this book and you will see much of today's events in it.
This series gets better and better with each book. Following Haggs and Abigail through the tribulation in the Vanished series is not only just entertaining, but informative as well.

This book did not disappoint. In fact, I think it was more engaging that "Vanished" While this book can be read without reading the predecessor, you will miss some of the subtle nuances that are given. The author does give some background information, but it's better if you read "Vanished" first. These books tell about the second coming of Christ and the Tribulation Years. Dr. Jeremiah does take a different point of view than the Left Behind series, but his view is no less terrifying. If you are a Christian, you may think, "How could people be so gullible?" Trust me. The situation will be so subtle that it will make sense to the unbeliever. I don't know if there will be more books in this series or not. "Shattered" could be the end, but the story is open enough for another book.
I love stories of after the rapture. The main characters of Abigail and Hags are captivating. This was a story that I devoured. Looking forward to the next in the series. Outstanding narration. Highly recommend. Definitely read in order.
I was blessed with an ALC and ARC. . Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction Audio. The opinions expressed are my own and unbiased.
In terms of an action-packed thriller, this book delivers, reading like a news report you wish you didn't have to see while weaving in biblical prophecy that warns of impending danger. For Christians, it's a sobering reminder of what can happen in our personal walk with God when complacency overrides discernment. Using examples from other nations where social currency is enforced, this post-Rapture setting takes it to extremes that somehow seem unbelievable and yet not entirely infeasible. It's a harrowing state to exist in and one that shows what a truly godless and corrupt world can look like when the fear of God is no longer prevalent or accepted.
I appreciate that those who have become believers in the new world express complex emotions, everything from regret that they did not turn to the Lord sooner to fear of what's to come as persecution ramps up to gratitude for knowing the Lord. Being able to understand the signs of the time from the Bible, these new Christians are taking to heart the hope that God will overcome everything that is happening. It is in this same vein that Dr. John Haggerty is presented as a very conflicted man trying to process further discoveries that make him question everything that he has known, allowing readers to work through the same moral quandaries. Readers who enjoy end-time prophecy will find Shattered to be a realistic and futuristic sequel that references many of this world's current issues of artificial intelligence, environmentalism, and totalitarian regimes while incorporating the biblical promises of God that He is always with us and that we can look forward to encountering Jesus, our Messiah.
Dr. David Jeremiah offers biblical wisdom and encouragement for navigating brokenness and uncertainty. His message is both timely and hopeful, reminding that God's faithfulness remains constant even in difficult seasons. It is filled with Scripture and practical insights, this is a book that will encourage and strengthen believers.

Personal relationships cause a lot of heartache in the Last days.
Saul's best friend Isaac disappeared right in front of his eyes and John Haggerty lost his wife and children to the disaappearances and soon after that the United States was obliterated and the remaining Americans were sent to any country that would take them.
But there is an organization that promotes hope and life for the future.
John's niece is part of it and she and others are being targeted.
Who will win ?

Shattered by Dr. David Jeremiah is the second book in The Vanished series. This book takes over after the first ends, so it is best to read them in order to get the full story. This story focuses on what happens after the Rapture, especially the first three years. This book is so interesting, it uses Bible scripture to make it so real, while focusing on prophecy and redemption of those left behind.
In this story we follow along with John as he works for President Vilks to get vengeance for the loss of his wife and daughter. And, Abigail as she makes an online Christian ministry to help support others through this time. The story also contains scientist as they work through events that are happening and the rise of the Antichrist. I found inspiration in those left behind that turned to God and refused to follow the Antichrist.
It is so well written, I struggled at times knowing events similar to those describe with someday happen.

What??? This is completely unfair. I cannot sit still and wait for the next book in this series!
I did not see that ending coming. I won’t spoil anything, but the book ends on a major cliffhanger, and now I’m left completely on edge waiting for what happens next.
Beyond the suspense, this book also made me pause and reflect on my own life and where I stand in relation to the Rupture. It deepened my understanding of Scripture and highlighted details in the Bible that I hadn’t fully noticed before.
What impressed me most was how vividly the characters’ emotions came across. Through Haggs, Abigail, Li Fan, and Saul Katz, I could feel the confusion, uncertainty, grief, embarrassment, and fear as though I were experiencing those moments alongside them. Their reactions felt human, which made the story’s larger spiritual themes even more powerful.
I also loved seeing biblical concepts and prophecies brought to life in such a vivid way. The book balanced action, emotion, and spiritual reflection remarkably well.
Even though the suspense kept pulling me forward, I slowed down and took my time with this one, and I’m glad I did. It gave me a lot to think about.
Highly recommended!

This book picks up two years after book one, Vanished. If you haven’t read that yet, stop now and go read it to understand what is happening here. This story is mostly told from four points of view: John Haggerty, a doctor and former military man who is the last remaining member of his family after the Rapture; Abigail, the daughter of John’s best friend who is also the last of her family and the creator of The Worldwide Way, a website for Christians; Saul Katz, an Israeli who created an AI defense shield; and Li Fan, a seismologist who can’t get anyone to listen to her warnings. Only Abigail has become a Christian since the Rapture.
This is a novel about the end times, following closely to events described in the Christian Bible, mostly in the book of Revelation. It is God’s judgment on wickedness, offering people one last chance to turn to Him before time comes to an end. Neither this book nor Revelation are happy books. Shattered puts faces and personalities to people who will suffer during the seven year Tribulation that begins at some point after the Rapture and ends with the Second Coming of Christ. Book two takes place basically through the first half of the Tribulation.
This is a warning to those who continue to reject God, who refuse to believe what is right in front of them. It is a plea to repent and let Jesus in. This book ends with a doozy of a cliffhanger, but if you want to know how it ends, Revelation is the last book of the Bible. If you are interested in diving deeper, David Jeremiah has a Jeremiah Bible Study Series that includes a study of Revelation.
Shattered is a great book that I really enjoyed. I would recommend it to lovers of eschatology, apocalyptic fiction, and the Left Behind series.
Family friendly but the horrors of the Tribulation might be too scary for young readers.
