A shattered piece by Gabriel Tesone is a wonderful old school fantasy in the same vein as JRR Tolkien. It follows several viewpoints that eventually converge into one as a group develops.

We're treated to some old fantasy tropes that are used regularly such as elves, dwarves, Orcs and goblins. As the story progresses were even introduced to some unique characters and races that are new to me but maybe not new to the fantasy world.

The stories paying is quick with lots of action and the characters are thoughtful and well written. With the story following an ancient evil showing its head again and threatening the peace of the realm. Although this is not a New Concept; when it's well done it cannot be overdone. Although I've really enjoyed many unique fantasy stories and different tropes than the usual it's always nice to come back to a comfort zone with something like this.

Magic in the story is ever present and used in some minimalistic as well as grandiose ways. Old Guardians and Powerful Mages are Representatives throughout the story.

I'm confident that most fantasy lovers will enjoy this throwback Tale cool

This was a strong start to the Chains of Solitude series, it had that feel that I was looking for and enjoyed in the genre. The plot was everything that I was hoping for from a epic fantasy and thought the overall journey worked in this and loved the addition of military elements. Gabriel Tesone was able to create a world that I wanted to get back into and loved the characters of this world, it left me wanting to read more in this series and from Gabriel Tesone.
