If you read any self-help book this year, this is it! Spencer is well known on social media and as a public speaker. The book brings you the same humor you'll see from him elsewhere. The book guides you through different areas of your life. It prompts self reflection. It then helps you set goals and expectations to live our life to the fullest! I know there are a lot of books out there that promise to help set your mindset for success and instead is the author rambling about themself. This book is not like that. It is well laid out to both share some of Spencer's experiences while focusing on the reader. I appreciated that about the book.

All of the questions were thought provoking. Each reader will have their own answers depending on where they are in life. I'm sure I'll have different answers if I read this again next year. I've been debating what to do with my job lately. This book's questions forced me to face what the situation really is and consider what it is that gives me the most joy.

My favorite passage from the book is one that really spoke to me. "Each of us has within us someone whose true nature has only just been glimpsed before we, consciously or not, push it behind a curtain. There it stays, sometimes forever, a shadow whose presence we choose to ignore or quiet." So true!! So many people (including me) put ourselves in a box. We present ourselves a certain way because we believe that's what is expected of us. Acknowledging it is the first step to setting yourself free to be who you really are.

I took one star off because some of the stories became repetitive.

This book was uploaded in PDF format or something I believe as it was near impossible to read on my kindle unfortunately. That is expected I guess with ARCs on ereaders but it made it almost entirely inaccessible to me. Beyond that tech issue, I think this book will read well and connect well specifically with high school and middle school students and children. That being said, I did not connect with it as much as I hoped I would. I ended up putting it down at 24% due to issues with not being able to read it and not connecting with the book in the way I had hoped.

I genuinely think this would be an amazing audiobook, but the format for the ARC was inaccessible unfortunately. I would still recommend this book to others and am hopeful it becomes an audiobook! I think all schools should have this book in their libraries and in the classroom setting, that would be wonderful.

Thank you for the opportunity to sample this ARC! I appreciate the opportunity to provide honest feedback voluntarily.

This book is a self help book without being preachy or giving you how to. It gives you the oportunity for self-reflection and makes you think about different parts of your life.
The author manages to write with a great sense of humor, while reflecting on his own life and talking about opportunities he used to grow. He asks questions in every chapters you can use to reflect about your own life.
Some stories in the book are used multiple times and do become repetitive.

I recived an ARC copy of the book trough NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve been following Spencer West on TikTok for a while, and his energy is just as powerful on the page. The book feels incredibly honest and motivating, like a reminder to stop shrinking yourself for other people’s expectations. His perspective on resilience and self-acceptance really stayed with me and left me feeling genuinely inspired.

Spencer actually gave a talk at my high school back in the day, and I recently started following him on social media.

This was a great book from someone who faces some many obstacles both psychically and mentally - being a disabled queer person is not for the faint of heart.

West's strength is admirable, and his use of humour is a well needed reprieve.

I first came across Spencer on TikTok and when I saw this book I knew I needed to read it. This book is not just part of Spencer’s story but in each chapter he asks you questions. Which gives each reader a different experience while reading it. As each reader will have different answers to the questions. They are some deep questions that really made me think about my life as well as my career ambitions. I started applying for new jobs after reading this.
Only downfall was some of the stories got repetitive, so that was a bit annoying.
