Description
I've fallen hard for an alien, but he's harboring secrets.
Massive secrets that threaten the very essence of humanity.
How can I give him my heart when his race plans on taking my future?
Sadie Owens has been slowly dying inside. Bit by bit, piece by piece, day by day. Trapped in a life she hates, she relies on only one person--herself.
Despised by her family and betrayed by an unscrupulous government, Sadie dreams of a different life. When she is chosen to participate in the government's new social experiment, she is ecstatic at the prospect of spending six months in Thalassic City, the shiny new city under the sea.
Immediately drawn to Logan Chandler, Sadie is captivated by the beautiful boy with the ocean-blue eyes. Logan seems to embody everything that has been forbidden, but he isn't all he appears to be.
Confused over Logan's true intentions and concerned when best friend Jenna starts transforming in front of her eyes, Sadie partners with newcomer Jarod in a bid to uncover the government's real agenda. The truth is more shocking than anything she could ever have imagined.
When Sadie finally understands why the Saven walk among us, will it be too late to save her heart and the human race?

I write books with lots of romance and if you only enjoy hard science fiction then this is not the book for you. While there is no cliffhanger in this book it is not a stand-alone read.

One thing that shines in this book is the world building. The society Siobhan Davis has created was so well described that t was easy to picture t all in your head. Yes, there are similarities to the Hunger Games, with the inner circle housing the rich without any of the rules the outer circles have to abide by, but they don't take away from the story what so ever.
While I loved that aspect, I did find Sadie too immature at times. It's understandable that she is naive given her upbringing but the way she carried on about Logan after he winked at her was like a 12 year old girl after a boy accidentally touched their boobies. Thankfully that doesn't carry on for long.
I don't want to give everything away about the plot, it's best to go in blind because the build up and reveal adds a great deal to this story.
It was such a good start to the series and i can't wait to see where it goes from here.

First I would like to say thank you to the author for a free copy of her amazing book to read and review. Then I would like to say wow this book had me hooked from the first word to the last fullstop, it was amazing I love this type of story so I was really excited to read this one and it didn't disappoint, it was a roller coaster of a ride reading this book.It had me up all night to finish it. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fast passed read.

I wasn't sure what I was going in to when I requested this book but I'm certainly glad I did. I've recently been having a hard time with the dystopian genre. This book is a mix of dystopia and sci-fi all in one. It's brilliant. This is one of those "don't judge a book by it's cover" deals. I really don't like it but I do like the book.
Sadie is part of the lower class living in the Outer Circle, also known as stars. Everyone has a small tattoo on their wrists classifying them. The lowest class have bronze stars, the middle class have silver coins, and the upper class have gold bullions. Being a star means Sadie is forced to work at the age of 14, she's not allowed to marry or fall in love, she's not allowed to have children, and much more. They're basically considered slaves to the rest of the civilization. I liked how Davis separated the classes using the tattoos and the restrictions placed on the lower class. Her world building is great.
The government decides to try a new way to lessen the strain of overpopulation. They are sending volunteers to an underground city, Thalassic City, for six months to see if it is possible to live there. Sadie volunteered to get out of her dull life and away from the family that hates her. Luckily, Sadie is chosen and she's whisked away to a new world. One thing that made me role my eyes was the name for their little test drive: "The Experimento." I wish there was a better name or just drop the "o".
We knew there were going to be aliens based on the description. Since we know this, it's obvious who the aliens are when Sadie enters her new life. I like how Davis showed the slight differences between the humans and the aliens aka the Saven. It was subtle but the reader can tell...a bit of dramatic irony added a little twist to the story.
Sadie was a great main character. She's strong, brave, and has a good sense of who she is. She knows what she wants in her life. She's inquisitive and cares about her new friends. She acknowledges her failings and her behavior towards Logan (the love interest). The action really picks up in the last third of the book and we see Sadie shine.
This was a great book. I enjoyed it and I am definitely looking forward to the next one. I definitely recommend this book. I might be checking out her True Calling series.

Wow, I love this book! The uniqueness of the storyline keeps you on your toes and really wanting more. I love how Siobhan raises the very real overpopulation crisis and the drastic actions people will go too.
I love the concept of living under the Sea and I did not expect the ending!
Its great to have such a strong heroine, Sadie has obstacles she needs to face and takes it in her stride, never letting the situation get the better of her and working out solutions for the problems she faces, using her initiative and showing great strength and strong will throughout. The only niggle I had was the slight repetition of her friends keeping secrets and not confiding in her throughout the book. But that's it.
I really loved the storyline, the relationships and really look forward to reading number 2 as I need to know what happens

I received an ARC for an honest review.
This book was really really good. I enjoyed it very much.
First of all I kinda wish the prologue wasn't there, or was put in the middle or something. I would have liked to guess what was going on instead of knowing.
I am really excited for the next book :)

This book will definitely be a hit! Thank you for sharing this title on NetGalley. NetGalley has become an important tool for helping me find new materials for our library.

This book was so amazing! I can't wait to read the next one! The world building was great.

I kept thinking this was going to be similar to other YA dystopian/futuristic/sci fi/romance books, but each time it flew right past all expectations and created something totally original. I genuinely enjoyed this book and look forward to the sequel!

Having read Siobhan Davis' book True Calling, I knew I was in for a good read when I started Saven: Deception. I was wrong. It wasn't just good. It was fantastic.
5/5 stars for me. Siobhan Davis is a fantastic pulse-pounding, frantic page turning action writer. Her romance portions are even better - get out your fan! (We've already ordered this book and are anxiously awaiting the paperback of Book 2).
Some of my favorite things about this book:
-Oh, Nelly, can this woman build a world! You can completely visualize Thalassic City and put yourself in Sadie's shoes. Never is there a moment where you have to completely suspend reality for something that just isn't plausible.
-The title makes sense. You'd be surprised how often I read a book and think the title should have been something else. When you read the key line in the story that connects to the title, it's an a-ha moment.
-Characterization is outstanding. You want characters you can sink your teeth into? Here. Feel like you've known them forever? Here. Love or hate? HERE!
-Dystopian fans (think Hunger Games, Divergent, These Broken Stars, 5th Wave, Article 5, Atlantia) will pick up on the many cues provided by Davis that something is not right from the beginning, although it does not turn out how you think it will. Taking that familiar story line and twisting it in a new direction, I was completely captivated.
-It combines the familiar beats with unexpected elements: espionage, evil government, romance, lower class, aliens. There's something in this book for everybody and I think that sums up why I like it so much! I know there will be many readers for this book. It's going to be a sound investment for our high school library.
-The sequel comes out in April. I love a book with a quick sequel. I hate waiting and I forget so much of the story! Siobhan gets that.
-Does it make my heart happy that she's a self-published author? YES! Boys and girls, you don't have to get an agent and go through the big publishing companies to get your voice heard. Self-publishing is easier than ever and, obviously, good writers do it too! I recommend this book to fans of The 5th Wave trilogy, Insignia trilogy, Across the Universe trilogy, and Unwind series. Atlantia would be a loose comparison, but if you enjoyed the underwater aspect, Saven: Deception will NOT disappoint.

****ARC received in exchange for my honest review****
First of I really liked the world building in this book. Phenomenal! And then a big plus that there was NO love triangle. The romance felt real not forced with happy times and also hard times. There are doubts and betrayal and hurt - all played out beautifully in the book. I didn't like Sadies family. They where so horrible to her that I was really angry with all of them.
Overall a great book, which held me captive with all the twist and turns. I'm definitely reading book 2 in the series - have to know what happens next.
