Description

It’s been six months since Trinity’s death and I still can’t believe she’s gone. She was the closest I ever came to having an old lady. Then those bastards took her from me, snuffed out her life while I was on a run. My brothers want the old me back, but that man’s lost in a haze of guilt and grief. I give in and agree to be set up on a blind date. I don’t expect much. I don’t even want to hear about her. It’s enough knowing Ainsley Valois is the best friend of the RC’s side piece. Once I get the damn date out of the way, they’ll get the hell off my back. What I don’t expect is to hit it off with her and end up in her bed. The morning after gives me the shock of my life when I see my Ainsley standing next to him—Roman Mac—in a photo with a frame that says ‘Best Big Brother’. I dress and hightail my ass out of there, vowing to forget Ainsley’s existence.

Roman is the best big brother a girl could ask for, but also the worst. He gives new meaning to overprotectiveness. He has been my guardian since I was ten. To protect me from his enemies, he even made me use our mother’s maiden name as my last name. Roman’s entire life revolves around his club and me. My first date took place at his clubhouse. Needless to say, I haven’t been asked out much since then. My best friend is sneaking around with the Road Captain of the Kansas City Chapter of the Royal Bastards MC.

When my brother goes away for a weekend, Nova convinces me to go on a blind date with RBMC’s SAA. What better way to thumb my nose at all Roman’s stupid rules? I never expected to hit it off with Reese and I especially didn’t expect to fall into bed with him. I fell asleep after amazing sex, thinking it was the start of a great secret romance. But Reese was gone and I knew he discovered my relation to Roman. Three months later while Roman is on a run, I’m facing a crisis—get rid of the baby I conceived during my one night with the biker or find Reese and confess I’m carrying his child.

It’s been six months since Trinity’s death and I still can’t believe she’s gone. She was the closest I ever came to having an old lady. Then those bastards took her from me, snuffed out her life...

You know how you see a book cover, read the description, then start the book & IMMEDIATELY know you're going to LOVE the book???? 100% what happened with this book!! 🥰🥰

The narrators did a fantastic job - I definitely got hot biker from Reese and while I found Ainsley's character to be pretty whiny... she is only 21... so I would say it fits who she's supposed to be.

I loved the characters... main & supporting.
There was good suspense & the book was fast paced.
Great spice level with many steamy scenes. 💕🌶️🌶️🌶️
Loved the ending... 💑 I appreciate how her brother Roman & Reese were able to make up & she didn't have to choose between the 2 of them, even though they were on opposing sides..,. (although, to be fair, they did work together to eliminate most of Roman's side LOL)

This is book 1 in the Royal Bastards MC series. I can't wait to read (or listen to) more!!!!

Thank you to the author (Kathryn C. Kelly), publisher (Makin Groceries Media), narrators & Netgalley for the ALC. All opinions are my own.

This book had an interesting storyline and fun tropes. I liked the characters for the most part, though Aisley being the naive little girl schtick went on a little too long for me. The author created plenty of tension between the 2 biker gangs, between the main characters, and even between friends/bikers. Overall, this was an enjoyable listen/read that had tension, spice, and drama.
The narrators were fine. I loved the male narrators voice for his character. It sounds like a grizzly biker and his voice acting was great. The female narrator sounded like she was doing a child like Marilyn Monroe for the FMC and it made the character a little irritating. The rest of the voice acting was fine.

I received this as an ALC from NetGalley in exchange for review.
This was my first book by this author and it was also my first MC with this much violence and gore. The MC romances I have read before were more mild and focused on romance. This one had more club politics and violence, but there was also a good romance in it. I loved the drama and suspense. My jaw was on the floor at times (in a good way).
I liked this as one of my first MC romances and I look forward to reading more from this author!!
The audio book was great. The audiobook was dual narration and both narrators were easy to listen to and the accents were awesome.
Definitely recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.

Motorcycle romance
Brother's best friend
Dual POV - 1st person

Duet narration - Melanie Hastings & Stone Smith
Good performance of this motorcycle romance.

Book #1 Royal Bastards MC - Kansas City series

This was deliciously forbidden and a fun listen. Reese and Ainsley's story was a good one. I enjoyed the authors writing style and felt the characters were well written and preformed.
I would like to continue this series.

OMG. This audiobook was so good that I was captivated. The name gives away the premise, but you definitely don't expect the outcome. I was constantly blown away by the character development and the unexpected choices everyone made. Every time you expected it to be boring and chose the easy option, they chose the hard option, and the author found a way to make it seem like the correct choice every time.

This is dark romance with some very dark themes, but it was done so well that you don't even notice if it was a dark moment. There were many times when I had to go back and be like, "Oh, that was actually really messed up." Didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying it.

This is an age gap romance, sorta enemies to lovers book. We have the MFC who is 21, who's brother is trying to marry her off and she wants one last choice in her life to be hers. So she chooses to lose her virginity to out MMC. Little do they know how that one night will entangle their lives. He finds out she is the baby sister of Roman a rival enforcer from another biker gang. Her best friend Nova is actually a snake in the grass and MFC will need him to save her life from Nova's father. Oh Nova how she is a ticking time bomb that causes our MFC brother kill them all from the inside out. Our MMC will burn the world for MFC because she is offering him a family to replace the one he lost.

I was not expecting this book to be as good as it was!!!! Not only was it written well, it had just enough drama to keep me hooked and enough spice to make me blush. I love how even though the gangs were rivals the love he had for his sister overcame it all. Love love love this book and have already pre ordered it on audible.

If you were a fan of SOA (Sons of Anarchy) this book would be right up your alley! I loved SOA and I genuinely enjoyed this book! This was a first for me by this author! I have it 4 stars solely because Some of the beginning plot was predictable and kinda of Rome Juliet-ish. Like sister falls in love with brother’s rival. But the rest of the plot and book was so captivating. I barely put it down. I will be reading the rest of the series when it comes out. I received an audiobook book format from NetGalley! So thank you to NetGalley for that opportunity!

One Night With the Biker by Kathryn C. Kelly* is definitely not your typical biker romance, and honestly, that’s part of what makes it so entertaining.

At first glance, it might seem like a standard enemies-to-lovers setup, but Reese and Ainsley are anything but typical. Reese is still dealing with the fallout of losing Trinity—the one woman who actually meant something to him—so he’s not exactly in the mindset for romance. He only agrees to a blind date to get his brothers off his back, expecting nothing from it. Meanwhile, Ainsley is over here making a very intentional choice—going on a date with her overprotective brother Roman’s enemy just to push back against all his rules.

And of course… that’s where everything starts to spiral.

Their first meeting? Way more chemistry than either of them expected. What was supposed to be a one-and-done situation turns into a night neither of them planned for—and definitely one they can’t just walk away from cleanly. But the second Reese realizes exactly who Ainsley is connected to, he’s out. No discussion, no looking back… or at least, that’s the plan.

What I liked is that Ainsley isn’t as innocent as she first comes across. She knows what she’s doing when she goes after Reese, and she definitely gets one over on him in the beginning. But at the same time, she’s also incredibly naive in other ways—especially when it comes to trusting the wrong people. And Nova? Yeah… absolutely not. That “best friend” label is doing a lot of heavy lifting because the manipulation and betrayal there is unreal. Some characters really earn what’s coming to them, and this book does not hold back in delivering consequences.

Roman is another character who adds a lot to the tension. He’s that classic overprotective brother turned up to the extreme—his entire life revolves around the club and keeping Ainsley safe, even if it means controlling every aspect of her life. And while you can understand why he is the way he is, some of the things tied to the club life—and the violence that comes with it—definitely make you question where the line should be drawn.

The story really kicks into another gear when the fallout from that one night comes into play. Suddenly, it’s not just about attraction or rebellion—it’s about choices, consequences, and figuring out what happens next when everything gets complicated fast.

Overall, this book is messy, dramatic, and full of morally gray characters making questionable decisions—which is exactly what makes it such a wild ride. If you’re into biker romances that lean heavier on chaos, tension, and complicated relationships rather than clean-cut tropes, this one definitely delivers.

3.5 STARS

this is my favorite type of MC romance, darkness, hotness, complicated characters. The more I listened the more complex they all became and I really enjoyed it. My only reason for lower stars would be the Female voice - she sounded like she was Glinda from Wicked and just didn't fit the character in my opinion. The male voice was PERFECT for all the male characters and they change for each one was so good, I knew who was who by the tone and accent. This definitely made me want to know more about this world and the characters, I feel Roman' story will be amazing.

I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really loved the female main character. She was feisty which is always a selling point for me. I’m not a huge fan of the male main character. His emotions feel to… wishy washy. Especially in the middle of the book. It didn’t take much to sway his thoughts and feelings. If there was more of a slow build up (especially for the length of the book) I would have liked the book more. I also wasn’t a fan that the essentially same event happened twice. A different plot device for the second event would have pushed this to a five star rating. That being said… I did really enjoy reading it and would recommend it to future readers.

Ainsley and Reese were set up on a “blind date” Ainsley immediately knew that Reese is that enforcer in the rival motorcycle club to the one that her older brother, and only family, is the enforcer for but Reese has no clue. That doesn’t matter to Ainsley though, all she is looking to do is lose her virginity to a man of her own choosing before she marries the man that her brother has arranged for her to marry. This is the first book that I have read by Kathryn C Kelly, but I fear it will NOT be the last at all. My biggest gripe is that I unfortunately kept confusing Reese, the MMC, and Roman, my FMC’s brother. Not in the way they acted because they were supposed to be similar, but because their names were too similar for them to also both be the “scary brooding” guy that was the enforcer in their motorcycle club. That may just be me but I do believe that they should’ve had names that were easier to tell apart.

As a female motorcyclist, this is my first book about an MC & I don’t know why it took this long to read one! I got this audiobook from NetGalley & it was so good!! I followed along with the KU book & the chapters have beautiful artwork! It was a multi POV book with a woman stuck between two rival MCs. I think being in a club myself (social club, not motorcycle club) gives me a whole new perspective on this book than I would have 2 years ago. I understand the significance of the cuts & what it means to be committed and loyal to the club you’re in.

I was given the ALC for One Night With the Biker, and it delivered the gritty, violent MC vibe I enjoy. Reese’s grief and Ainsley’s sheltered‑but‑strong energy made their one‑night connection feel messy in a good way, and the surprise‑pregnancy twist added real tension. The story kept me listening, and the duet narration made the experience even better - the voices suited the characters perfectly.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to listen.

I enjoyed this book I love when a mmc is obsessed with an fmc but can’t really explain it. Not usually a fan of Pregnancy trope but I appreciate how the author used it in the book definitely adds to the stakes. And the brother of the next books not about him I don’t want it! I need more of him asap!

Ainsley has a few reasons for wanting to loose her virginity to Reece, and then when her brother goes out of town for the weekend, her best friend convinces her to pounce. Nothing could possibly go wrong, right? This has a couple of rival motorcycle clubs, full of tough guys who aren't know for their delicacy, and the women who fall for them. Go on an adventure on the open road with audiobook narrators Stone Smith, with his impressive voice range, and Melanie Hastings sweet as honey voice. Prepare for the ride of your life.

This was an okay dark romance. The story was okay, but I really could not get into the narration of the audiobook. The story has some really good spicy scenes, but that was the best part of the story.

One Night with the Biker by Kathryn Kelly
MMC: Reese, 31
FMC: Ainsley, 21

Thank you to the author (Kathryn C. Kelly) & Netgalley for the ALC. This is the first book I’ve read by this author.
This is the first book in the Royal Bastards MC: Kansas City, KS series. I listened to this book by listening to the audiobook. However, I did not care for the narrators. The male narrator kinda grew on me after listening for a while. They were new to me narrators but I’m not sure about them. Reese Sinclair is the enforcer of the Royal Bastards MC: Kansas City chapter. Ainsley’s older brother, Roman, is from a rival club and he’s VERY overprotective of her. He wants to “arrange” a marriage for her so she’ll be well taken care of. He doesn’t want her in club life since it took their parents lives. She has other plans. She has a one-night stand with Reese who she loses her virginity too (rival of Roman and come to find out Trinity was screwing Reese and Roman) Reese cuts off Roman’s hands !!! Like seriously! He was the rival clubs enforcer and now he’s handless.
I could NOT stand the violence and grape against women in the Bloody Scorpions 🦂. Boom Boom is Novas father & the club president of the rival club — he beat his daughter and had her sexually assaulted by another club member. Although, I couldn’t stand Nova at all (she was so bitchy and so nasty towards Ainsley. She was so jealous of Ains and it was sickening) Nova definitely didn’t deserve a place in her life and Ainsley knew it (you could tell by her inner monologue) Nova ratted Ainsley’s pregnancy out to BoomBoom and Ainsley’s brother…. I’m so glad Roman took care of Nova ;) this was definitely a different side of the motorcycle romances I’ve read. It shows the much darker side of it.
I really hope that Roman gets a book!
