Description
This deluxe limited edition includes stunning designed endpapers, stenciled edges, and beautiful foil on the case.
An ambitious alchemist must uncover her university's dark secrets while trying to escape from her mysterious past in this electrifying debut.
On a rain-soaked night in modern-day Paris, Larkspur Lee and her academic rivals find themselves at the center of an impossible crime-the murder of their university's headmistress, the immortal Petronelle Flamel.
In the aftermath of Flamel's death, the school devolves into chaos. The mysterious investigator assigned to the case, Violaine, believes a cult known as the Promethean Genesis is responsible for Flamel's murder. But Lark, who is all too familiar with the Prometheans' horrors, will do anything to stay out of the cult's reach. Matters are complicated when the mentor she crossed an ocean and a continent to escape re-enters her life, enticing her to his side once again while secretly wielding an agenda of his own.
As the Prometheans' plans come to fruition and the university's dark history comes to light, Lark has no choice but to decide whether the power she desires is truly worth the price.

Did someone ask for a unique atmospheric Dark Academia standalone read with beautiful writing?
Mothsblood by Lynn D. Jung
For fans of Ninth House, Babel and maybe even Frankenstein.
This is not a Romance forward book, this is a dark academia with morally ambiguous characters, a murder mystery and honestly some messed up stuff that had me saying “wait, what did I just read!” I absolutely adored the gothic setting in Paris and I am always a fan of books that have an immortality twist.

An absolutely chilling read, from the body horror to the mystery to the all-too-familiar story of a powerful man grooming intelligent young women and taking credit for their accomplishments and discoveries. My heart was in my throat the entire time I read it, and I could not be more eager to read it come October. 10/10 book for Spooky Season!
I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS A DEBUT.
Mothsblood was stunning. Lynn D. Jung pays attention to every little detail, and it made the world feel so vivid and immersive. I especially loved the European setting—the multiple languages, the reluctance to speak English, the tourists in Paris. Those small details added so much to the atmosphere.
We follow Larkspur Lee, our FMC, who is ambitious, brilliant, and incredibly difficult to fully understand. Her thoughts and actions constantly contradict each other, and I kept turning pages trying to unravel the truth. There were so many questions I wanted answered: Why does she see moths everywhere? What does her flame tattoo mean? Why does she need to become immortal? What happened to Shea? Why did she run away from Cali and her mentor?
I loved the worldbuilding, especially the unique take on alchemy in a modern world. Add in dark academia, a murder mystery, and a cast of incredibly complex characters, and I was completely hooked.
The question that stayed with me most was when the hunger for knowledge and immortality becomes too high a price to pay.
And that ending. Phenomenal. So much tension, rage, and revelation, with a quiet love underneath it all that had been there from the beginning.
Lark was another character I loved—smart, independent, and an outsider. I just wanted to know more about her.
If you love dark academia, alchemy, murder mysteries, and complex characters, I highly recommend adding Mothsblood to your TBR.
I genuinely cannot believe this is a debut. I cannot wait to see what Lynn D. Jung writes next!
