Description
Story Summary:
Auryn is a disabled fallen star—reborn too early and bound in breath and soul to an immortal god of war, Kailorien. She is worshipped as a miracle, feared as a heretic, and hunted for the silver in her veins. Kailorien would protect her at any cost…but his love may take everything from her: her future, her voice, even her freedom.
As the Cycle of Dark swallows the sun and summons ancient monsters to devour the living, Auryn must choose between becoming the myth the faithful demand…or the reckoning they deserve.

ARC Review (Goodreads):
I’m at a loss for words. This book is beautiful and difficult to describe.
I refuse to reduce it to tropes. While some of my favorites exist organically, this book is anything but formulaic.
It is unique, unexpected and often crushing.
While the romance is the main focus, it does not overwhelm the plot. It is yearning and tension and denial and it’s absolutely beautiful.
It’s also character driven, with fully fleshed out characters that feel full of motion. They don’t just stop existing off-page. This is so rare in what would be considered Romantasy, but, again, this book doesn’t follow the rules.
This book follows the philosophy of its main character-it is what it is-and what it is, is powerful and full of unique voice.
ARC Review (Goodreads):
Breath of Starlight is an epic that demands you slow down and seriously immerse yourself in the beautiful world built by its Author Ravenna Vale. This is a character-driven journey steeped in rich lore, cultural depth, and a fascinating exploration of how names define an identity. It’s far more than a quick read; it’s an immersive odyssey.
At the center is Auryn, a "fallen star" who provides powerful disability representation. She is a lyrical, inspiring protagonist whose resilience proves that true strength isn't just physical. Her complex dynamic with the MMC—the relentless God of War, Resh’Agar—is electric, filled with intense tension, "spicy" moments, and plenty of reasons to scream at the pages. But don’t be fooled. This book is NOT spicy, the scenes are intimate and loving, with real purpose for the story.
The story's emotional weight is bolstered by a phenomenal supporting cast, including the standout Thessia, and meaningful inclusions of LGBTQ+ representation and trauma. This beautifully written tale is a total emotional rollercoaster that will have you laughing, crying, and literally kicking your feet in excitement.
The world-building is both grand and intimate, moving from the sweeping, high-stakes drama of an epic odyssey to the nuanced development of its diverse inhabitants. It masterfully incorporates relatable themes of trauma and inclusive LGBTQ+ representation, making the world feel lived-in and profoundly real. Whether it's the transformation of the landscape around a fallen star like Auryn or the presence of powerful, relentless figures like the God of War, Resh’Agar, every element serves to heighten the stakes. For readers who love to get lost in complex mythologies and crazy plot twists that redefine the story’s landscape, this world is an absolute triumph.
“I am myself” - Auryn
ARC Review (Goodreads):
This is wow. Breath of Starlight took me much longer than I anticipated to complete but I also enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. The writing is woven into a beautiful tapestry that tells so many different stories with varied voices and depicts so many different places. As the first novel in the Nine Rivers Odyssey, Breath of Starlight does a lot of heavy lifting - establishing the characters, conflict, worldbuilding, etc. but it also does a stunning job doing all of it. The pace is not rushed despite balancing tension and urgency; the changing povs are easy to follow but provides readers with a space to question what is happening without feeling too frustrated (keep in mind, it is a slow burn but it’s definitely not what I would consider a “typical” one);the overall story about Auryn and the Resh’Agar is one that leaves one wanting more. It’s the more “epic fantasy” type that I never knew I wanted and that I never knew I needed.
ARC Review (Goodreads):
First of all… stunning… just stunning.
I have not come across a fantasy book that captures disability rep in such a true yet compelling manner.
Auryn (FMC) is a reborn star, awakened too soon, but she is a force all her own.
The dynamic between her and Kailorien (MMC) is beautiful and at times, frustrating.
I see both POV’s.
Yet; I only agree with one.
It is still an epic love story underneath darkness and war.
The YEARNING? Oh my goodness 🥵
This one is a sloooww burn 🔥 so be sure to hydrate.
Thessia is my favorite, well no; I think it might be Zarrek.
Maybe I’m a why choose when it comes to the besties.
These two define ride or die 👊🏻
I felt the energy rising up from the pages.
The world building is WOW.
I don’t even know how to express words.
The characters have so much dimension, emotion, and complexity… the world around them felt even richer and more intense.
I felt as if I were standing next to her as she was painting the entire book on a canvas.
I wonder if my imagination aligns to what it actually is 🤔
Sooo many brava’s and kudos… this book is more than just good, it’s top tier!

ARC Review (Goodreads):
I received a copy of this book from the author; all opinions are my own.
Breath of Starlight is one of those stories that feels expansive and intimate all at once. It blends epic fantasy, rich world-building, and a slow-burn romance with deeper themes about identity, strength, and what it really means to be powerful. Auryin completely stole the show for me. She’s not strong in the traditional sense, but her resilience, self-awareness, and quiet defiance make her such a compelling FMC. Watching her navigate a world that underestimates her while still holding onto who she is was honestly one of the most impactful parts of the story. The dynamic between her and Resh is layered with tension, protectiveness, and vulnerability that never feels one-sided. The story itself isn’t simple or straightforward, but that’s part of its charm. With multiple perspectives and complex character arcs, it invites you to sit with the narrative rather than rush through it. The side characters add so much depth, and the representation woven throughout makes everything feel even more grounded and meaningful.
If you love slow-burn romantasy with protective MMCs, emotional depth, and a story that challenges what strength looks like, this is absolutely worth picking up.
ARC Review (Goodreads):
This story broke me in ways I wasn’t prepared for.
Auryn’s journey was fragile, powerful, and constantly fighting to exist in a world that both worships and hunts her. Her bond with Kailorien is the kind of love that isn’t just intense…it’s consuming and suffocating. And it’s so devastatingly beautiful. Every moment between them felt like it came with a cost, and I could feel it on every page.
The stakes were relentless. The world dark and unforgiving. Auryn’s quiet strength, her pain, and her impossible choices ruined me. Watching her stand at the edge of becoming either salvation or destruction had me holding my breath the entire time.
This wasn’t just emotional…it was beautifully haunting. An unforgettable, soul-crushing 5⭐ read that I won’t be able to stop thinking about.
