This is not my normal go to genre. I don’t know why I was so drawn to this series. I only know that I loved the characters and some of the redeeming qualities of Azi and the love Jax has for Samantha.

The battle between good and evil ensues in this last Chapter of the series. There is nonstop action and twists and turns. Every time they turn around something new is revealed and sometimes Sam feels hopeless. But there is also a new character introduced that gives Sam some hope. Time is ticking and Jax is fading and Sam can’t stop now to find the stone and try to release her “pure” powers to find a way to make Azi leave Jax’s body and for them to have a normal life. If that’s even possible!

Heckle, also known as Abel from the Bible, is the balancer in life and he seems to pop up at the most bizarre and critical moments to balance things out and to trade for things to keep it even. They always make the trade of whatever he wants just to get them safe, even if they know that it will bite them in the butt later.

Since Jax killed Azi’s mate, Azi punished Jax by not allowing him to surface. Jax is aware of what is going on but is unable to do anything about it. When Azi pretends to be Jax and tries to seduce Sam to get her cooperation in finding a stone that belongs to Azi, Jax becomes furious and finds that for a moment, he was able to take control. But only for a moment. Azi is impressed with it since no one has ever been able to take back control in all his lives. Azi respects Jax for that but it is too late for it because now that Azi has suppressed Jax he has little time to survive before Azi totally takes over Jax and Jax just stops existing. Jax is not going to stop trying! Azi does give them some time to be alone before Jax dies. Those moments are sweet and tender. And also with graphic intimate moments.

There is a bond between Jax and Sam and Azi sees it and feels it. Shoot Azi is also in love with Sam. Azi is intrigued by it and has left Sam an inheritance. He also vows to always protect her.

My only issues were that it kind of ended quickly. It was just too easy after all the conflict. I mean that the resolve was too easy after so many twists and turns for this to just happen. But it still gave me the ending I wanted so I didn’t balk too much. The other was that sometimes in the past two books things would pop up that it seemed that everyone else but Sam, Jax/Azi knew about. It happened a lot. For those with strong Christian backgrounds, you may not want to read it since Abel kind of straddles the line sometimes, even though he can only balance good and bad. There are fallen angels like Michael and Gabriel.

If possible, I would venture to say that Azi is a good demon from hell. He doesn’t make decisions lightly. He is still evil but there might be some redemption for him someday.

As I stated earlier, Azi, does have his good qualities and listens to and senses Jax and Sam’s relationship and their qualities. When he is in control of Jax, Sam learns how to tell the difference and everyone can see the different personalities between Jax and Azi. Sam wants little to do with Azi but senses that Azi cares for her too. He will take care of Sam. Jax is a little jealous of it but doesn’t voice it. I love Sam’s dialogs with Azi, there is snark and disgust and some kind moments. I mean Sam can only handle so much of Azi!

If you like nonstop action, twists and turns, not knowing who to trust in a book, betrayals, good vs. evil, climbing in trees, magic, demons, a bond between two people that is so deep and tender, big ugly dogs that are vicious, an ending that you sigh from because you can now breath after so much turmoil has resolved, characters from the Bible that may be different than you would think, than this might just be for you.
