It Ends Here by Heidi Perks is the kind of psychological thriller that makes you question absolutely everyone. Five strangers are trapped inside a café after a gunshot is heard, and the biggest question isn’t just what is happening?—it’s which one of them is responsible, and why?

What I loved most was the way the story unfolds through different perspectives and slowly reveals the secrets, relationships, and hidden truths surrounding the people inside that café. Just when I thought I had someone figured out, another piece of information would make me question everything all over again.

The tension builds so well, and I especially loved how much the story plays with the idea of how well we really know the people closest to us. Everyone has secrets, everyone has something to hide, and absolutely no one felt completely trustworthy.

And that ending?! 😳 I loved the way everything came together. It was suspenseful, emotional, and had me constantly reconsidering my theories.

This was such a clever and gripping psychological thriller, and definitely one I’ll be recommending to anyone who loves twisty mysteries, unreliable characters, secrets, and trying to figure out the truth before the author reveals it.

When a gunshot is heard in the vicinity of a cafe situated on a quiet marina very early one Monday morning, the police in Southampton are less than worried, was it really a gunshot or something much less sinister? It’s not until the local yachtsman who called in the noise, happily sitting on the deck of his boat in the Marina having his morning coffee, expands the circumstances of his call that actions are taken. To the caller’s knowledge there are five people inside the shuttered cafe, all arrived independently, and none have left the premises. This information soon has the mainland police hightailing it over to the Isle of Wight to investigate further.

A book that grips from the very first chapter. So intriguing that it becomes one of those ‘just one more chapter’ reads that takes over your life!

Written from various perspectives, this is very much character driven. As the story unfolds and personalities emerge, can the reader guess who the shooter is?

Fast paced and exciting. Great writing and plot, with a nice little twist. Good epilogue.

100% recommendation.
