Beloved author of The Austen Affair, Madeline Bell, returns with a twist on Shakespeare featuring fiery exes, scheming friends, and sweet revenge.
Beatrice and Richard. Once-soulmates-turned-mortal-enemies.
Ten years after a devastating breakup, the two feuding exes are forced into proximity to serve as the maid of honor and best man at the wedding of their closest friends. For one weekend, Beatrice and Richard need to put aside their pride, spite, and weirdly exhilarating hate-fest in order to celebrate a more functional couple's happy ending. The thing about a feud, though, is that when it’s the only thing tying you to the person who broke your heart, it’s really hard to let it go. And isn’t it better to fight with your mortal enemy (*cough* the love of your life) than to never speak at all?
Over the course of the weekend, six friends reconnect for an Italian wedding extravaganza—and a scheme is hatched to get the exes back together. Inspired by Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, this is an ensemble story about the friendships that evolve with us as we grow up, from barely-adults in college to fully-formed humans, warts and all. And of course, it’s a heart-pounding second-chance love story about two stubborn, prickly, hilarious exes with sizzling chemistry. Beatrice and Richard's hatred is so fiery it risks explosion. But maybe burning things down is the best way to start over.

Beatrice and Richard had me completely hooked! The enemies-to-lovers tension, sharp banter, sizzling chemistry, and second-chance romance were EVERYTHING. I loved watching these two stubborn, wounded exes navigate old heartbreak while being thrown together for an unforgettable Italian wedding weekend. The friendships added so much heart, and the Much Ado About Nothing inspiration was such a fun touch. Funny, romantic, emotional, and absolutely unputdownable!

I knew from the very beginning I was going to love this book. The humor is on point for me, but there is also this emotional depth that never fails to pull at my heartstrings and force me to attach myself to Madeline Bell characters.I look forward to what she writes next!

This was great! “Much Ado About Nothing” is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays and this lives up to the name! I loved the small changes to the characters to make them more realistic. I’m obsessed!

Much Ado About Everything is my absolute favorite Shakespeare play, and I also love when an author puts a fresh spin on a classic tale (I watched 10 Things I Hate about You -- based on Taming of the Shrew -- approximately 100 times as a teen). So when I saw this novel pop up on NetGalley, I downloaded it immediately! And I loved it!
Beatrice and Richard are set to re-meet after 10 years of sniping, at their friends' destination wedding in Italy. I loved the way Madeline Bell stayed true to the source material (even incorporating some direct lines to the best of my recall) while updating the conditions of the relationships and sprinkling in text threads and other modern elements. She took a left turn in the aftermath of the wedding (which of course famously goes wrong) that I loved as well.
Beatrice will always be that girl and Bell's version is as delightful as Emma Thompson's. Recommended for fans of enemies-to-lovers or second chance romance, destination weddings, or of course, the Bard himself.
