I want to first start off by saying this story was nothing short of amazing down to the title, the illustrations, and the representation. It will definitely be a book on my shelf in my classroom this upcoming school year! This story hit so many points regarding math and kids overall feeling toward it nowadays (I'm an elementary math teacher, so maybe I'm biased lol), but I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The cover and title were definitely eye-catching which led me to this read.

Nikhil is a primary grades math student who doesn't like math, so his teacher suggests he writes letters to math to becoming friends. The story progresses throughout the entire academic year and shows his progression with his relationship with math as well as how he's now noticing math all around him.

As an educator herself (which totally makes sense lol) the author hit every educational checkpoint. Windows and mirrors, multicultural representation, real-world connections...I could go on, but I'd get completely lost. I even read the author's note, which I never read the author's note, but even learning that her dad helped with her relationship with math which is also helped me with mine made this story even more special, plus I was able to use my new Kindle color to read it and it made the experience even more special.
