Description
She needs a husband. He cannot offer his hand. Together, they may lose everything—or find the future they never dared hope for.
When the fortune supporting Celia Westhaven and her cousins disappears overnight, she knows she must secure their future. The spirited Irishwoman needs an income, a home—and, by necessity, a husband. Since the one gentleman she truly wants insists he cannot marry her, she is prepared to wed anyone willing to provide for her family.
Peter Alcott was preparing to propose to Celia when anonymous threats against his sister changed everything. A former military strategist now entangled in dangerous intelligence work, he cannot risk bringing Celia into his uncertain life. To protect both his sister and the woman who secretly holds his heart, Peter must devise the most important strategy of his life.
As pressure mounts from an increasingly determined suitor, Celia's prospects—and her cousins' futures—grow more precarious by the day. Over tea and iced biscuits, Celia and her cousins form The Bonnet Brigade. With a self-appointed Madam General at the helm, they devise a plan to outmaneuver the London marriage mart before financial ruin strikes—or Celia's unwanted suitor makes his next move.
But as danger closes in and society's expectations tighten their grip, Celia and Peter must decide whether duty demands their sacrifice—or if love is worth risking everything.
Devour The Bonnet Brigade, a swoon-worthy Regency romance perfect for fans of Bridgerton's intrigue and Little Women's sisterly devotion. Featuring a secret spy, determined heroines, found family, and a slow-burn romance that sparks into passion, this charming tale of courage, loyalty, and love will capture your heart.

In this finely-paced Regency romance, Celia has a dilemma: she doesn't want to marry, but is living with her cousins and her aunt has said that she must marry this Season. When she learns why, she makes the effort to be sure she shows herself in her best light, despite her misgivings. She enlists help from her cousins, forming the "Bonnet Brigade", in finding a suitable husband.
What is the hurry? How is "suitable" defined here? Will she succeed? What will become of her cousins?

The Bonnet Brigade was one of the most delightful and well-researched historical romances I have ever read.
I absolutely loved this book! It is a beautiful, entertaining historical romance, but what impressed me the most was the incredible amount of research behind the story. The use of period-appropriate language and slang made the setting feel incredibly vivid and immersive, and I loved discovering all these little details throughout the book.
The romance at the heart of the story is built on much more than attraction. It is a story about companionship, trust, politics, and the social expectations and restrictions of the time. I loved watching the relationship between the main characters develop while the story explored questions of status, reputation, and power.
Another aspect that completely won me over was the way real historical events and details were woven into the narrative. I know historical fiction naturally involves research, but the author's dedication to making the story feel as historically accurate and authentic as possible truly impressed me. The political intrigue, blackmail, and even espionage added so much to the plot and made the story even more engaging.
But one of my favorite parts of the book was the friendship and solidarity between the women of the family. Their relationships were beautiful, emotional, and genuinely moving. I loved seeing women supporting, protecting, and caring for one another in a story where their personal and social freedoms were so restricted.
This is easily one of the best and most thoroughly researched historical romances I have read. It was romantic, funny, clever, emotional, and completely immersive. I loved it!
