This book's illustration was really well done. I especially enjoyed the visual on the page with the leaves falling. The story was really cute too! I loved the message. I do think this book should be read by older children who don't struggle with nightmares, even with the message and the ending i fear the beginning pages could still cause a child fear at night.

The poetry is fabulous; it's like the wonderful books of classic poems that we used to get years ago.
"Something In the Darkness" would be an outstanding read for young elementary students, especially for those who need an extra dose of courage during the haunting season. The lesson that the little girl learns at the end of certainly true.

I thought this was fun to read to kids in a spooky whispering voice until the climax of the book. I could definitely feel the creepy chilling feeling that’s described well with that feeling of being watched and the chills you get out of fear. It also had a good lesson about how usually the things you might find a little scary in the dark really aren’t in the light of day at all and it’s usually an overreaction to something that you’ll feel silly about later. The illustrations were great as well and very seasonal and done well with the color scheme. Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this early to my kids and know how much they’ll love it before purchasing it to keep and reread to them!

Beautiful poetic phrasing draws a stunning photo of night closing in while subtly whistling of unexpressed fears. As the scary process builds to a climax, surprise! What's frightening in the Dark really is not so scary in the Light!
Beautifully written and illustrated, this heartwarming tale of wise encouragement is a keeper!

We had a lot of fun reading this book at home, the descriptions were vivid and detailed. The ending of the book was unexpected but fit in with the message of the story. I think it would be better for a little bit of an older audience (5 and up) or in school because it could lead to a lot of great discussions and activities.
