There’s so much love and detail that went into this story and all the characters! The setting was picture perfect, the performances mesmerising, that first shopping trip exquisite for its endearing oddness, and the steam delectable. Especially that midnight mirror scene!
But what I loved most is that these two extremely lovable, unique and multi-layered birds of a feather don’t fight their feelings. Their chemistry is sizzles! They verbally spar at leisure, tease and taunt, but there’s always this innate sense of trust between them. They belong together, they know it in their bones, and close proximity away from prying eyes (only one room left at the grange which effortlessly plunges them into a pretend marital state) offers them the freedom to explore and explain. They’re so vulnerable and open with each other, unfiltered, real – it was a thing of beauty – and every time he says “My wife!”, goosebumps!

This was a brilliant read! Could not put it down, and it’s most definitely going on my Fall Favourite Rereads list!

This book gave me exactly the same sense of childlike wonder I found in fantasy books as a child, along with the spice I’ve come to appreciate as an adult!The writing was engaging, the worldbuilding fantastical and realistic at the same time, and the relationships between the various characters lifelike. The romance was beautiful, authentic to the characters, and both sweet and spicy in equal measure. I intend to read the rest of the series as soon as I have an opening in my reading schedule!

I really liked The Trick of It! The enemies-to-lovers tension between Rhys and Seph was so good, and I loved that they had history together that made their relationship more complicated. The mystery and magic added something fun without taking away from the romance. Overall, it was a fun, slightly spooky read with great chemistry, and I’d definitely recommend it!
