I am here for a paranormal romance but with a twist with cowboys. I was expecting Elsie Silver meets Ali Hazelwood Bride. To be honest I thought there would be more aspects of the cowboy romance other than this book mainly takes place on a ranch. Other than that it wasn't giving cowboy romance. The first 2 chapters - I was super confused what was going on. There wasn't any world building or character development. It kind of just catapulted you right into the story with no explanation. As the story progressed I liked it more and more. I liked that it involved werewolves, dryads and vampires. This was a wonderful paranormal romance about forbidden love to start off spooky season. This book was a bit of a mystery and with the few twists and turns at the end itbhad me captivated. I loved Clark and Elin's relationship and how they found out super quickly they were fated mates. Just like with humans, when you know you know, that's why they call it love at first sight. I liked how Clark was so protective of her and he would do anything to make sure she was safe. I was first drawn to this book by the beautiful cover art and all the colors. This book was the perfect blend of paranormal romance and mystery with a hint of spice.

This was so good! I thought this was a fresh take on a supernatural romance involving werewolves, vampires, and dryads. I'm a total sucker for a mating plotline and I really enjoyed the relationship and chemistry between Elin and Clark. Really hoping we get another book in this series to further explore the world of the dryads and a certain relationship the author hinted at!

This story starts out slow but stick with it. The first few chapters feel like there is backstory missing but it eventually figures itself out. Once I understood the world the characters were living in, it was an easy read that kept my attention throughout.

I enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters. You do need to adjust your expectations on relationship timeline due to the supernatural aspect, as the main couple getting together does happen rather quickly.

I wish throughout there was more character building of the side characters, but it does slowly start to happen towards the end. Perhaps to highlight a spin off, or larger roles in a future novel.

Overall a fun mix of two great romance book themes - supernatural characters and cowboys.

Sacrifice Me by Gemma Morr was an absolute delight. It is one of those rare romantasy books that hits so many of the classic plot points while still managing to feel engaging, fun, and full of yearning—the kind that actually pays off.

Each character is described just enough that you can fully picture them without pages of repetitive details. The setting also felt unique, with a Western twist and four different species bringing some much-needed novelty to an incredibly saturated genre.

Elin is our FMC, and like many before her, she has not had an easy go of it. Unlike some other romantasy heroines, however, she remains kind, strong, witty, and quick on her feet—both mentally and physically. It was SO refreshing to have an FMC over the age of 20 who isn't constantly biting everyone's head off and actually uses critical thinking when navigating her unusual situation. She can be strong without being perpetually angry or unnecessarily reckless. I loved her!

And then there is Clark. Strong, stoic, and incredibly duty-bound, he has all the makings of the classic Alpha wolf without feeling like a caricature of one. He takes his responsibilities seriously and carries the weight of them accordingly, but there is a softness underneath it all. I especially loved that, despite everything expected of him, he still makes time for his passion for music. It gives him something that is entirely his own and adds another layer to a character who could have easily just been "the strong, brooding Alpha."

The combination of Clark and Elin was pure bliss. The yearning, the clear communication, the slow build-up, the chemistry... 10/10. Their relationship develops in a way that actually makes you want them together rather than simply telling you that they belong together, and the payoff was absolutely worth it.

My only feedback? I need more. Immediately.

Werewolves, vampires, and cowboys? Say no more! I went into this after enjoying Gemma Morr's cowboy novel Untamed Heart. Now combining cowboys with the paranormal, it somehow made sense.

Sacrifice Me had a familiar lore with the divide between dryads, vampires, and werewolves. We meet Elin who lives with a dryad clan that is her family but is hostile with her. There has been more discourse with the werewolves and they believe it to be prudent to sacrifice Elin, literally, to the wolves as an offering for peace. But there's an ulterior motive for Elin to venture into wolf territory as she hopes to find her mom. When she crosses into werewolf territory she quickly learns that everything she thought she knew is turned on its head.

We also get Clark's POV, the alpha wolf with plenty of responsibility on his shoulders but will do anything for his pack. Having to accept a sacrifice was certainly not on his agenda though.

I did have a tough time at the beginning where it felt like being thrown into the middle of a story and feeling a bit confused to what the setup was. However, I'm glad I pushed through the confusion because the story had me hooked once things were rolling. The chapters were a bit long and there were characters I wanted to learn more about, but overall I was invested. I enjoyed the pack dynamics, the intimate moments between Elin and Clark, the dramatic reveals and intense face-offs. It was a fun read and fed my paranormal romance need and love for cowboys at the same time, with a dash of musician and billionaire. There are lots of fun tropes and antics in Sacrifice Me but I don't want to spoil too much. Check it out for a fun escape!

Sacrifice Me by Gemma More was such a fun paranormal romance with a dash of mystery.

I loved the world-building and how it felt complementary to the world we live in. I also loved how, from the start, the main characters were pushed to change their worldview and accept that the world they knew was not as grounded in reality as they thought.

Elin and Clark’s romance was so cute. I loved how he helped her embrace her true self and how she helped him become a better Alpha to his pack. It was really cute how they both made sure they knew they didn’t have to go through things alone anymore.

I really liked the mystery subplot. It added so much intrigue to the story and was what made me read the entire novel in one afternoon.

I really enjoyed Gemma’s western debut and loved this one even more! I can’t wait to see what direction she’ll take this fictional world in.

Thank you so much to Pan Macmillan and NetGalley for the ARC!!

I was not prepared for how deep the conflict goes between different species in this! There’s a whole layer of dryad x werewolf x vampire x human tension that made this stand out to me. I came for the romance, but stayed for the intriguing world building 👀

Something about me is that as soon as I see fated mates, I’m in. And Clark & Elin were so cute together omg 🥹💗 my Kate/Anthony (from Bridgerton) loving heart fell to my knees at this. Another duty vs desire, forbidden love situation. Think of Anthony sniffing after Kate like a dog, yeah 😭 That’s Clark.

I won’t spoil anything, but the way this ended has me begging for a certain pairing to get their own book. Don’t play with me Gemma Morr, the vision is so crystal CLEAR 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Thank you to Pan Macmillan, Gemma Morr and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review!

I have been in a reading slump for... at least six months. But this book had me feeling that itch to pick it up, something I haven't felt in a long long time. To give a bit of further context to how big this is for me - I received a digital ARC for this book, and it was in PDF form. That means that the formatting was a bit off on my Kindle, and that I couldn't use the text to speech app on my phone. So all that to say, I had to fully read this book with my eyeballs and couldn't utilize audio to support it. When you've been in a reading slump for as long as I have, reading with your eyeballs and not ears is a SLOG. But this book had me picking up my Kindle, turning everything else off, and sinking into it. That says alot.

While this book was a blast to read, it did have its faults. I found the plot to be convoluted at times and the motivations of the characters to be a bit confusing. Without getting into spoilers, since all the big reveals are at the end, I'll just say that I struggled throughout the book to understand the human women disappearances and the reasoning for our FMC to be sent as a sacrifice to the wolves. The reasoning was explained, but it felt thin and not solid enough to justify the actions everyone was taking.

One thing that did pull me out of my immersion is that this book is set in the US (it is the Yellowstone pack that we are following), but very UK terms were used. Tyres (tires) and safety belt (seatbelt) were used. Had I been listening and not reading, I don't think I would have noticed this as much.

Thank you to Pan Macmillan and NetGalley for a digital advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Sacrifice Me by Gemma Morr Review 💕

If you love paranormal romance like me, I have your next five-star paranormal romance book for you! Sacrifice Me by Gemma Morr was such a fantastic read, and I need a physical copy for my library because I will 100 percent be re-reading it! Once I started reading I honestly couldn’t put it down! The love story between the FMC Elin and MMC Clark is slow-burn perfection! The tension and chemistry between these two had me on the edge of my seat and I was so giddy and swooning when they HELD hands!! That is how you know the slow burn is written flawlessly!!
I loved both MMCs in this story.
Both have been through so much and truly understood each other as no other has before. I was not prepared to cry while reading this book but Elin’s story had me emotional. She doesn’t feel like she deserves love and happiness because of how people have treated her in the past. I loved seeing her journey to loving herself and channel her fierceness! Elin is easily one of my favourite FMC’s and Clark has easily earned his spot as a swoon-worthy MMC because of the way he treats Elin 😍😍 You just have to read this story and you will see why I love both these characters!!
I cannot wait for the second book in this series to be released! I haven’t had nearly enough of these characters and this world so I’ll be diving right in upon its release!

I cannot recommend Sacrifice Me by Gemma Morr enough! Especially if you like:
🐺 Shifters
🖤 He falls first and hard!
❤️ Fated Mates
🐺 Slow burn that will have you so
captivated and kicking your feet!
🖤 Touch her and ☠️
❤️ Touch him and ☠️

I really enjoyed this one! As someone who has only read one other werewolf book, I definitely had a bit of a learning curve with the different species, hierarchies, and lore, but once I got my bearings, I was able to follow along without feeling too lost. I especially liked the tension between the different species and the mystery woven throughout the story. The pacing kept me hooked, too!

I will say, though, that I think the “cowboy” marketing was a little generous. It’s primarily a ranch setting, and while Clark does wear a cowboy hat, I wouldn’t necessarily go into this expecting a traditional cowboy romance.

Also, I’m sorry, but every time I read the name Clark now I have to picture David Corenswet. Sorry not sorry!

Overall, this was a really fun read and definitely made me want to read more from Gemma Morr. I’ll absolutely be continuing the series, especially if Tanner and Lena are next!

I liked this paranormal romance. I just wished it brought something different to the genre, but it kept reminding me of Bride. The setting is somewhat similar. Elin is a half dryad, half vampire, that ia offered as sacrifice to the wolves. She is ready to fight before dying, but quickly learns the wolves, especially the alpha Clark, are good.
I wish there was more world building. Because of that, the stakes weren’t feeling that high for me. The romance was okay but a bit lusty. I was just expecting more from this book, and while it was okay and I’m sure fans of paranormal romances will enjoy, it didn’t wow me in any way.

This was my first Gemma Morr book, and I have to say, I had a good time reading it. Will this book be my favorite read this year? Not really, but it was a good time. I mean, Cowboys mixed with werewolves? That was definitely something I had to try.

I think it was an interesting world and premise, which does make me want to check out her other work, and leaves me hoping for a second book in the same universe. It’s the kind of book for that comes as a great read when you’re craving some supernatural romance, without wanting to jump into a complicated world, or a multibook series that leaves you with a cliff hanger. Here, it was just the right amount to feed my craving, and it was quick enough of a read that I could easily read it in a day. That is to me a good selling point, because I often find myself craving a certain genre, without signing up for thousand of pages to reach a satisfying point.

I enjoyed Elin and Clark dynamic. They were two fun characters to follow, and I was rooting for them. I enjoyed seeing them fall for each other and fight their attraction. And to me, that’s an important part of what I liked in this book.

Overall, it was a just a fun read. I would be curious to check out Gemma Morr other books, as she does have a cowboy romance that could be right up my alley. I hope we get more of this world, (there are some secondary characters that could be interesting main characters for a second book). If you are looking for a quick supernatural romance, with a hint of cowboy vibe, it is worth checking out.
