Summer’s Flame by Wendy Davy Pelican Book Group White Rose Publishing Christian, Romance Pub Date 01 Nov 2015 I was given a copy of Summer’s Flame through the publisher and their partnership with Netgalley in exchange for my honest review which is as follows: Summer Cassel finds herself being the unofficial welcoming committee to Aiden Hawk she lives in a renovated 1930’s Hotel transformed into a small but modern apartment complex. There is no denying that Summer finds Aiden attractive but she is unsure she wants to get into a relationship. Summer and Aiden have a serious of unusual encounters. Summer is determined not to date anyone in a dangerous profession but Aiden is a firefighter. Aiden seems to be at the right places at the right time rescuing Summer when she most needs it. Even saving her. Will Summer break her own rules and go after what her wants? Will she dare date a firefighter? Five out of five stars Happy Reading |

This book was a solid romance, but I sometimes doubted how she could not want the man who she said was everything she wanted--except for his job. The conflict seemed a little forced. But it was short enough to overcome that questioning. |

This is a sweet story. The characters are really likable but we never know if she actually made and they got to eat a blackberry cobbler. |

Fairly simple writing, doesn't go too deep, once you get used to that, you will appreciate the main aspects of the story here. Different from the usual romance novel, with both the main players actually 'interested' in each other from the beginning - which at first made it seem a little simplistic. However as the story moves forward, Summers fear of dating someone with a 'risky career' kind of explain her hang ups. Ironically, and this was my biggest issue with the plot - even tho the gorgeous firefighter hero Aidan has the 'risky profession' Summer can't seem to get past, despite EVERYONE pointing out it will be ok, Summer is the one with the dangerous experiences! Um hello??!!!!! Cute story though, with just enough extra supporting characters to beef out the story, add something extra and make it interesting. Everyone needs a 'Dottie' for a neighbour!! This was my first read from this author and I would seek out more. Not too intense, enjoyable inspirational read. I received this ARC from Pelican Books & Netgalley in return for my honest review. |

I really enjoyed this story. I read it in one night. It was hard to put down. I felt that the main characters were developed, and struggles were real. The story kept moving at a good pace. There were twists, some a little predictable and some not. It is a clean romance story, that fills you in with hope, not only for the to two love interest, but also for the nephew. The female lead had to be rescued more than once, yet maintained her own struggle with the fear of loving someone in a hazardous job. The was a potential competing love interest, made you think whether Summer (the female lead character) would turn to at the beginning. Her sister also needed her as she dealt with a major loss in her life, yet encouraged her sister to pursue love. I would recommend this book to others. I would read another story from this author. I wish there was a prologue at the end. I was given a copy of Summer’s Flame through the publisher and their partnership with Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. |

Aiden Hawk is a very handsome firefighter in his local community. Summer is an occupational therapist in a local school. They are neighbors and Summer is attracted to Aiden but he seems to have absolutely no interest in her whatsoever. He can't get away from her fast enough. What Summer doesn't know is that Aiden is very shy and tongue-tied around Summer. He thinks he is beautiful and would love to get to know her better but can't seem to express what he feels without loosing his nerve. He wants more than to be a bachelor. He wants a family and he wants God at the center of his family. Summer has a thing about not dating anyone who has a dangerous profession. Policeman and firefighters are off-limits to her. When she finds out what Aiden does for a living can she be persuaded to have faith and move forward with a possible relationship with Aiden and trust him? Can he be the man of her dreams? This was a clean romance, free of swear words and sex. It was a sweet story and I enjoyed it very much. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. |

Interesting story. It took a bit to get started, but glad I stuck with it. I liked the back and forth point of views, and liked the show of faith. At times the immaturity and quick to judgement seemed contradictory, but once I got into the story it was hard to put down. Highly recommend this book and author. |
