Heartwarming and frank, Rachel Marks’s US debut, The Life Edit, poses the question we’ve asked ourselves a million times before: If you could go back and do it all over again, would you?

Beth is staring down forty, her marriage is on the rocks, her work-life balance is totally lopsided, and her teenage daughter is shutting her out completely. She can just about grin and bear it until her best friend and true love shows up to her father’s funeral and hands her an invitation to his wedding . . . that’s only six weeks away.

Something’s gotta give.

On a doomscroll through everyone else’s Insta-perfect lives, Beth comes across an ad for a life coach claiming to have the power to literally change your life. And as it turns out, it’s the truth. He grants Beth the ability to not only revisit but alter any five moments from her past. Dubious but desperate for a change, how could she refuse?

Of course, it isn’t going to be simple. The butterfly effect will have far-reaching consequences, and, with the option to undo her changes, Beth is faced with the dilemma of which version of her life to choose. What does she need to be happy and what is she willing to sacrifice to get there?
