Enter the world of the most notorious gambling den in London, where matches are made... unusually. Welcome to the world of THE LYON'S DEN: The Black Widow of Whitehall Connected World, where the underground of Regency London thrives... and loves.

When a second chance at romance is offered, it will either correct a path that went askew…

Justin Heathford—Lord Maitefield—third son to the Earl of Arlington, has sworn off women and romance. Making a living as a Bow Street Principal Officer, he is fulfilled by his work and needs nothing else. One autumn night, he’s in pursuit of a thief who has turned London on its head by stealing jewelry and coin from the loftiest residents, but the robber once more eludes him. Needing a distraction, he goes to the Lyon’s Den with a couple of his friends; perhaps he’ll collect a win there.

When Miss Lillian Carnegie’s brother comes home with the news that he lost her hand at a card game in a gaming hell, she’s furious. Their father is a successful and rich merchant, but he’s a horrid man, and one who needs a comeuppance. With no interest in marrying, she would rather spend her time relieving the rich and titled of their valuables so she can, in turn, give that coin to the needy and downtrodden as a way to make up for her father’s actions. Having a husband would put an end to… everything.

Then her whole life pinwheels; the groom is her previous fiancé… and there is no escape this time. Though Justin fights against the machinations of Mrs. Dove-Lyon, he doesn’t leave the gaming hell unscathed; old wounds are ripped opened. Once the vows are read, lines are drawn for a marriage in name only, for he can’t trust Lily. When their personal and professional lives collide at a crime scene, more than sparks fly between them. Will he catch her or will she continue leading him on a merry chase? In the end, perhaps they’ll discover they were both properly outwitted—or well matched—all along.

...or it will end in a scandal that will rock London for years.
