Brilliant introduction to Vegan cooking. It makes ingredients accessible with great recipes for things that are often taken for granted in a lot of Vegan cook books. It has cost effective ways of creating Vegan extras that are better and healthier than their pre-bought counterparts and best of all, it's funny an demystifies a lot of the often 'exotic' ingredients that Vegan cooking often calls for!

It' begins with a very real story about the social implications of making the choice to go Vegan, something that every Vegan goes through. It really is great to have someone so candidly put everything down and make sure that those of us making the choice are not at all. Kristy Turner touches on the importance of food at social and family events, and how difficult it can be to make such a huge change that the people surrounding you may not understand. She also highlights the importance of not forcing your Veganism on other people as it is a choice they need to come to themselves. The purpose this cook book is simply to create delicious meals that everyone, even the most stringent meat eater, will enjoy!

Turner gives detailed instructions on how to cook everything the right way. Lets face it, if you're not Vegan you probably haven't ever soaked oats and beans for hours and cooked them from scratch without getting the ready made or out of a can. It's a new way of cooking and Turner makes it accessible.

The recipes are a great mix of healthy and comfort foods with a comforting emphasis on recognisable meals. It's no frills, family cooking, really designed to cater to every palate. There's even a fondue recipe!

A great addition to any Vegan kitchen.

Love seeing a good vegan cookbook! Made even better by the inclusion of gluten-free and gluten-free options for every recipe. So awesome for us food intolerant people!

[book:But My Family Would Never Eat Vegan!: 125 Recipes to Win Everyone Over—Picky kids will try it, hungry adults won't miss meat, and holiday traditions can live on!|28110843] is full of familiar recipes that are not usually thought of as vegan recipes. These include those recipes that have always naturally been vegan, and vegan versions of classic American dishes. I thought of this as a beginner's guide to vegan family meals.

The recipes are a nice mix of 'quick and easy' and more challenging. The variety is nice, which is necessary for feeding a family with picky eaters, and one with that deplores having the same meals over and over again. Turner emphasizes making meals agreeable for picky eaters, and providing approachable options that will not panic easily-alarmed meat eaters. She does not neglect the more health-conscious vegan recipes, they are included as well.

Highly recommended for all home chefs, especially those with families to feed, and those interested in take a turn down Vegan Boulevard.

Kirsty Turner creates fantastic vegan cookbooks for everyone to enjoy! This is another knockout cookbook that includes so many recipes that the entire family can eat and love, including those who are not vegan. As someone who recently transitioned to plant-based, my options were limited in a small town with little alternatives to meat and dairy products, but this cookbook brought a whole new mindset while introducing me to recipes that I can cook throughout the week with no hassle, and even introduce to my family, who are meat eaters.

This book is a winner.

No matter if you are someone that already dapples in eating vegan, or completely new to it or not at all interested in becoming or being vegan but just want to have some healthy alternatives and nice options to make for yourself or/and your family!

It has a lot of information, beautiful pictures and great options.

And it shows how easy it really is to start eating healthy!

I know that one of the new favorites and i will be doing a lot of from now on, is definitely the "hidden veggie mac 'n' Cheese" because that was unbelievably tasty!
But there are so many wonderful recipes in here that are all equally as great!

I also loved that this book doesn't only offer "dinner" food, but the complete range, from breakfast over soups and snacks, to "real" meals.

It offers alternatives to basically all stable recipes and a good idea on what you can really do without any animal products.

This is such a wonderful cookbook that i will defiantly be buying and getting a few people in my life -especially my sister since she is always looking for healthier alternative recipes!

What a great vegan cookbook! I have never really had the desire to go vegan, but I do try to keep meat & cheese to a minimum, and quite frankly, I am always looking for new recipes.

I really liked how Turner gave you a real life look at a social situation of being vegan. As I mentioned, I am not vegan, but I know people who are and have been witness to these types of food bullying. It is extremely uncomfortable and I always feel bad for the target. I am a picky eater and although I do eat animal protein, I always try to make the healthiest choice FOR ME. I would never put down someone for THEIR food choices.

I thought the recipes looked great and I really like having the pictures as reference. I can't wait to try these dishes.

I would highly recommend this book to vegans and non-vegans alike. This cookbook is for anyone who has a vested interest in their health!

LOVED this cook book ! I am vegetarian somewhat vegan but due to medical issues I have to avoid gluten. This book is full of fabulous recipes many which I have already tried. Not overly complicated or hard to locate ingredients. This makes it super easy to eat vegan with delicious recipes.

What a great vegan cookbook! It has actual recipes that my family of 5, who are not vegan, would give a try! Many of the recipes are a keeper. If you want to introduce skeptics to vegan food, or just want to incorporate some vegan meals into your meal planning-this is a great book to show you the way.

Delicious recipes and beautiful pictures come to together for a vegan extravaganza! This cookbook is a must have for your library and personal vegan cookbook collection. I cannot wait to start cooking these recipes!

This is a great, family-friendly vegan cookbook. I love how the author divided the recipes into fun sections - instead of the usual Soups, Salads, Main Course, Dessert divisions, we get cute things like "My Parents Don't Understand Why I Won't Eat My Childhood Favorites" and "Uncle John Thinks His Comfort Food Is Better Than Mine...And Won't Shut Up About It." Some of the ingredients might be a tad unusual and hard to find for folks that shop at a big chain grocery store (jackfruit, chickpea flour and other alternative flours can be difficult to locate unless you have a local health food store) but those recipes do not make up the bulk. A great cookbook for anyone, from dedicated vegans to those just trying to add more variety to their diets. The family-friendly focus is awesome, and as a mom to two kids I appreciated this facet a lot.

Beautiful photos and layout. Text is not preachy but concise with good suggestions about how to ward off "but why vegan??" questions. Some of the header fonts were hard to decipher.

I want to eat everything in this book. Well done.

I must start by saying that I simply loved the quirky book cover. It caught my eye immediately and beckoned me to open the book and get reading (and cooking). The same quirkiness and wonderful photography continues throughout the book.

As the book title suggests, this book is aimed towards the reluctant family and friends of a vegan. Accordingly, the contents are split into sixteen sections with titles like 'My family demands eggs and bacon for breakfast' or 'My brother thinks there's no such thing as a meatless sandwich'. In my family, one of my daughters and her boyfriend are recent vegan converts and whilst I'm not vegan, out of choice, I eat a high percentage of vegan meals. I do still wonder though whether my carnivore husband would even consider trying, let alone enjoying, these recipes.

The recipes themselves are varied although many assume that the reluctants are cheese lovers. In my family, they are not! However, that said, many of the recipes can be adapted accordingly. It's also good to see that most recipes don't call for long lists of specialist ingredients. Recipes include: Maple Peanut Butter Pancakes, Basic Cashew Cheese Sauce, Crabless Cakes with Lemon Dill Aioli, Cheese Stuffed Meatballs, Shiitake Stronanoff, Chile-Roasted Tofu Lettuce Cups, BBQ-Glazed Tempeh etc.

If you're an established vegan, then maybe this book isn't for you, but otherwise, I would highly recommend this book for the new or reluctant vegan. A great addition to any cookery book collection.

Many thanks to Netgalley for supplying a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Having a vegan daughter living at home cooking meals isn't always easy. But with the recepies in this book it made it a lot easier. And the large, colorful pictures along with the fun chapter headlines helps getting even the younger kids wanting to try new food.
5 stars from me and my family for a really great and helpful book. I recommend it to everyone vegan, vegetarian or if you just try to eat more healthy.

Well, where do I start? This is the only cookbook which I had for the past year where I bookmarked pretty much every single page! Recipes, layout, photos, writing style...everything is just amazing!

I went vegan not a long time ago and basically am trying to find the right way to eat and balancing my diet. This book is a great introduction to veganism, moreover it suggests how you can make your whole family to understand and appreciate what you're doing. For me that was hard! I mean, I can tell them to read loads of books about how beneficial for us and the environment the plant based diet is...but when it comes to a grandmum asking "Oh... but I don't have anything that you can eat... don't you like my cooking anymore?" This is when it gets hard and this book deals with the subject perfectly.

The recipes are quite easy and pretty much all of the ingredients are easy to get hold of. I also liked the fact that almost all of the recipes are gluten free as well, or suggest how you can turn the meal into gluten free one.

I would really recommend this book and definitely going to use it a lot!

I received an e-copy of this book for review from Net Galley. The following review is my honest opinion.

I love this book. I have been vegan for a little over a year. Never felt better. I have continued to look for great recipes and different types of recipes from vegab blogs and youtube. When I saw this up on net galley, I requested it immediately, as I have made recipes from Kristy Turner's blog. i did have high expectations and they were surpassed.

Not only do all the recipes look amazing, but having Celiac disease, I really appreciated how the recipes were marked GF. Also many of the ones that weren't were marked gfo, as they had an option to make it gluten free. I noticed there were similar for soy as well.

I made the Maple Peanut Butter Pancakes, which were absolutely delicious! I had been having a hard time finding pancake recipes that are gluten free and vegan, that didn't use bananas, which I have a reaction too. These were perfect and super easy to make. I'm honestly so excited to try the other recipes.

I would recommend this to experienced vegans, new vegans, vegans with omnivore family members, or anyone that is veg-curious!

This is a great vegan cookbook that counters all of the frequent arguments against having vegan meals. Like Turner's previous book, this cookbook has unique vegan recipes that I found myself itching to try as I was reading. I'll definitely be trying some of these recipes out next week. Turner is one of my favorite vegan authors, and this book only further shows her culinary greatness!

've read quite a few vegan cookbooks but I'm always looking for more as there are so many vegan recipes and options out there and I want my diet to be more vegan than vegetarian and this cookbook is amazing! The food photography and recipes in this book make me SO hungry just flicking through it! Some of the recipes are very simple and I don't think they really needed to be included, such as avocado toast but other recipes are so delicious and don't contain a tonne of hard to find ingredients. I love the explanations at the beginning or various vegan ingredients/tools and how to cook the basics so I think it would be perfect for people who are new to a vegan lifestyle.

An outstanding book of delicious recipes! There are so many delicious sounding recipes that I will be cooking for a long time! I've been eating mostly vegan for over a month and feel so much better. The food cooked at home is way more delicious than when I eat out. I plan to purchase the hard copy of this book for myself and for gifts. your environment, or because you love and respect animals, this is an excellent, comprehensive guide to help everybody enjoy the vegan lifestyle!

I loved Kristy's first cookbook, and this looks like an excellent successor. I usually decide if a cookbook is worth purchasing if there are more than five recipes that I'd like to try, and that's certainly the case here. I like the author's friendly, conversational tone, the layout of the book, and the appealing photographs - the whole package is very nice, indeed. I think this would be a worthy addition to both my personal library, and the library that I work at. .

My husband and I really want to go vegan - he for health reasons, me for my love of animals. I haven't eaten red meat in about 12 years, so it wouldn't be so difficult for me, however...CHEESE. Dairy is my downfall. I don't know if I could live without it. Anyway, I digress...

Having already read But I Could Never Go Vegan! and enjoyed it, I knew this would be a great resource as well. The photography is brilliant and beautiful and there are many tips along with the recipes. I am looking forward to getting my hands on a hard copy to keep as a permanent fixture in my kitchen. This is a good one!

Thank you, Netgalley, for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Love this cookbook! Vegan has always seemed intimidating and complicated, but this book breaks it down in an approachable and down to earth manner. I love how it's broken up into the various sections. And the design is beautiful too!

I have to be honest when I say is that I will probably never be a vegan. While I have been eating less meat and more vegetarian/vegan dishes during the last few years, I could never give up meat altogether (and more importantly: CHEESE!!). Still, I always love browsing vegetarian and vegan recipes, especially since I'm always trying to prepare them at least two to three days a week. But My Family Would Never Eat Vegan! turned out to be a little goldmine. Not only are the personal bits and recipe introductions hilarious, but the recipes themselves are easy to understand and follow. I'm not sure if I will be able to actually prepare all of them as some ingredients are not easy/impossible to buy down here in Argentina, but I am looking forward to try my hands on quite a few of them soon. I loved the chapter division as well; tackling a different group of 'difficult' relatives and friends in each one. My favorites were probably the easy weeknight solutions, 'meat and potatoes' eaters, kids chapter and desserts. Thank you Kirsty Turner for giving me so many new recipes to try! I will be looking forward to the reactions of my 'guinea pigs'.

Really enjoyed this book. I was quite skeptical as my husband has always been totally meat and potatoes. Having lettuce on a sandwich would count as a salad. But, I was totally excited about these recipes. The ones I've tried so far are great. I do recommend shopping at farmers markets and whole food type stores for some ingredients. The set up of the book is easy to follow. Kudos

I have been thinking of going vegan or vegetarian for some time and this book has given me some good advice on how to go about it. Trying to work out how to incorporate such a change into family life can be daunting but Kristy Turner says we should let the family experience how delicious it can be. Her recipes are so tasty looking on the page and certainly do-able. She gives good advice about the ingredients needed to start and this was a very useful part of the book for me as I’m not familiar with some of them. This book makes it all seem so easy though and I want to give so many of the recipes a try. There are some beautiful photos of the finished dishes and they made my mouth water. I think once I've done some shopping for the ingredients that are new to me, I really want to have a go. This book is full of yummy, scrumptious recipes and
recipes for all occasions and for different ages in the family. I can't wait to try some of them. I especially like the look of tempeh sloppy joe sliders, shiitake stroganoff and sweet potato shepherd’s pie
I was given this ARC free by Netgalley and The Experiment publishers in return for an honest review.

As a vegan for four years, most cookbooks are a rehash of the same handful of recipes with a few that are more unique. This cookbook had more than the usual of unique recipes. It is focused on veganizing "regular" meals, and I think it does a good job of doing that using veggies more and tofu/tempeh less which I appreciated. The chart of how to cook beans and grains is a great cheat sheet as is the detailed info on common vegan ingredients. Overall, I bookmarked 4-5 to try. All the directions are straightforward and most do not use a lot of crazy ingredients that you can't get at the local grocery.

In her previous cookbook But I Could Never Go Vegan! author Kristy Turner proved that she could in fact give up cheese and adopt a vegan lifestyle. Latest release But My Family Would Never Go Vegan! is another vegan cookbook, this time setting out to tackle the challenge of eating with sceptical relatives once you’ve made the switch. The book kicks off with a humorous introduction where Turner shares her own experiences with adopting a vegan diet and how this affected her family life, before moving on to the 125 recipes.

Interestingly, the sections that follow are not titled by the type of meal or time taken to prepare, but instead the recipes are sorted into chapters each tackling a different issue non-vegan family members may have with vegan options such as “My family demands bacon and eggs for breakfast”, a chapter on vegan breakfast ideas, and “I don’t have time to cook elaborate family dinners”, which shares easy weeknight meal ideas.

The recipes themselves appear to be easy to follow, with lots of full colour images of the final dishes. It is also worth noting that whilst the author isn’t based in the UK, the majority of the ingredients used are readily available in supermarkets or health food stores here. Included at the top of each recipe are icons not only to indicate which recipes are suitable for intolerances or allergies such as soy, gluten and nuts, but also to show which recipes may need prepping in advance and which ones are great as ‘to-go’ options. All of the recipes included in the book are either gluten free or have gluten free options so are perfect for anyone following a gluten free vegan diet. Whilst looking through the selection of recipes I found these icons really useful as a quick reference guide.

In addition, the book also includes handy tips and tricks including information on basic ingredients used in vegan cooking and advice for newbies on making the switch - particularly useful for those overwhelmed by a whole new selection of cupboard staples! Another great little extra is the short guide on how to ‘veganize’ family favourites.

The book’s release date coincides perfectly with the holiday season and could be a very handy helper for anyone who is experiencing these kinds of stresses about catering for larger groups at any family events that may be coming up over the next couple of months!

From the eye-catching cover, quirky chapter headings and chatty narrative to the mouth-watering photography of finished dishes, Kristy Turner certainly does her best to "win everyone over" with this stunning book of delicious recipes to tempt even the fussiest of eaters and most committed omnivores of all ages.

In this book, rather than separating recipes into traditional groups based on intended meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner) or main ingredients, we find chapters based on common objections to adopting a vegan lifestyle, which the author addresses with gentle humour and imagination. She tackles such knotty issues as "My family demands bacon and eggs for breakfast - vegan dishes to get everyone's day off to a good start" and " My teenagers just want to "fit in" with their friends when it comes to what they eat - vegan food cool enough for sports games, sleepovers, and just hanging out" to "If forced to choose between chicken wings and me, my spouse would choose the wings - food for your "meat and potatoes" family members."

With this book you have the tools to prepare tasty food that the whole family can enjoy regardless of whether they choose to follow a vegan, or plant-based diet or not. She is at great pains to stress that the intention is not to try and convert everyone to that lifestyle but rather to enable families to be able to enjoy mealtimes together regardless of their varying food preferences and/or needs. As well as each recipe being suitable for a vegan diet the recipes are also highlighted with symbols to show whether they are gluten/nut/soy free and how they can be adapted if necessary.

This book is a refreshing read packed with handy hints, yummy recipes and relaxed humour that leaves you wishing you really knew the author and could pop around to her place for a chat and a salted vanilla maple blondie!
