Boys around the world are treated differently than girls just because of their gender. They are given an education and choices, but are also expected to be men, to work, to fight, to be brave. Amazing photographs of children are paired with simple text showing that these boys wish for the same choices and freedoms they have to be given to the girls and women in their lives. As a Boy is a valiant call for all children's voices to be heard.

Oh my gosh. I never knew there needed to be this book, but here it is.
I was a little put off by the premise, that boy could advocate on the rights of girls, but this is such a sweet picture book, just the right age to show that girls and boys should have the same rights, the right to be educated, to be treated fairly.

This is a sweet picture book that really shows that boys and girls should be treated equally. It shouldn't be that a book of this nature is needed in 2016, but sadly, its very much needed. It handles the subject really well and as a simple picture book its easy to follow for the target age group.

Great picture book to use when approaching the subject of equality with students, aligns well to social justice for the primary set. I love the photographs used in the text, especially when using with students. Lots of questions will pop up about the living conditions of the kids in the photographs. Love it!

This book will spark conversations with children about many issues: equality between the sexes, the importance of and availability of education, poverty, geography, and other cultures. Each page has a beautiful photograph of children from all over the world.
