Author Bio:

Carrie Doyle Karasyov was born in New York City. Upon graduation from Barnard College, where she majored in Russian Language and Literature, Carrie worked in the features department of Harper's Bazaar. In 1995, Carrie moved to Moscow, Russia, to help launch the Russian edition of Harper's Bazaar. The following year, she became founding Editor-in-Chief of the Russian edition of Marie Claire. After two years, Carrie left and moved part time to New York City and part-time to Fontainbleau, France, where her fiancé (now husband) was getting his M.B.A.

Carrie reunited with Jill Kargman, her friend from the Spence School and the Taft School, and together they wrote the movie Intern, which premiered at Sundance in 1999. What followed were sales of screenplays to Paramount, Showtime, Oxygen, Nickelodeon, and other studios. Carrie and Jill were frustrated that nothing was being made, so they turned their script The Right Address into a novel. It became a national bestseller.

Wolves in Chic Clothing followed, and then Carrie and Jill turned a script they had sold to Paramount into their first teen book, Bittersweet 16. Summer Intern and Jet Set followed that. In addition, Carrie wrote The Infidelity Pact on her own.

After France, Carrie lived in London and then spent five years in Los Angeles before returning to New York City where she currently lives with her husband and her two sons, James and Peter. She is a co-founder of Dunemere Books, and Contributing Editor of Hamptons Magazine.

Antonia Bingham has made a lot of life changes in the last year!! After divorcing her jerk of a husband, Antonia pulled herself up by her bootstraps, moved cross country to East Hampton, NY and bought herself an Inn. After spending 6 months and a lot of money, Antonia was able to refurbish the Windmill Inn and slowly but surely, she's building a clientele.

All is going as she planned until she hears of the curse of the Windmill Inn's owners!! All the prior Innkeepers somehow met an untimely death in which the circumstances seem very suspicious! Once Antonia learns of the curse, she initially thinks it's just an old wives-tale until she does a little digging and comes to the realization it could be true!!! Antonia immediately starts to snoop around and puts her innate sleuthing skills to the test to try and solve the mystery of what exactly has happened to all the previous Windmill Inn owners!!!

What a fantastic "who done it" novel!! I always enjoy getting wrapped up in a great mystery and Carrie Doyle did a great job with Death on Windmill Way! The storyline is well thought out. There were so many people I suspected had "done it" and I loved the fact that I was still guessing until the very end. I give Death on Windmill Way 4.5 stars and will definitely be reading the next book in this series! If you're a mystery novel fan like I am, you need to check out this book!

This is book one in a new series. I enjoyed reading about the Hamptons: the author did a very nice job of adding descriptive words to tell the reader about the homes in the area and seasonal observations of things like leaves falling from the trees and the layers of clothing needed for weather that changes. I also enjoyed the main character—a gourmand who relishes food although she is steadily packing on a few extra pounds.

The book begins with a murder and gave details of how it happened. Even with the extra information, that the main character doesn’t have, I kept wavering between suspects. While the murderer was someone I suspected, I wasn’t sure, and that uncertainty added to my enjoyment . In the end, the mystery is neatly wrapped up during a dinner party that all the suspects were invited to.

This was a well-played out mystery and I recommend it.

This is the first in a new, cozy, mystery series set in East Hampton. Antonia Bingham is thirty five, when, after an unhappy divorce and the loss of her father, she decides to make the move from California to the East Coast. Her friend suggests she buys the Windmill Inn, whose former owner, Gordon Haslett, recently died of a heart attack.

At first, Antonia is enthused by her new Inn – although her heart is really in the restaurant. For Antonia is a foodie and she often judges people by whether they will accept one of her scrumptious snacks! However, soon she begins to hear some disturbing rumours. There is a superstition that owners of the Windmill Inn die under suspicious circumstances and whispers that the generally unpopular former owner of the inn did not die of natural causes…

When Antonia meets handsome movie star, Nick Darrow, on the beach, she dreams of romance. However, he indirectly introduces her to the sleazy crime reporter, Larry Lipper and she questions him about Gordon Haslett’s death. When a fight erupts in the Inn between Haslett’s sister, Naomi and his girlfriend, named Barbie (honestly!) then she begins to investigate in earnest. Is she imagining the odd things happening around her ? Is she under threat of a curse, or is the Inn haunted?

This is a fun read, with a good cast of characters to flesh out the story. Antonia is a very likeable lady and becomes good friends with the widowed, historical novelist, Joseph Fowler, who becomes something of a father figure to her. The extremely un-PC Larry Lipper is also a good character and there are a good cast of possible suspects and motives. I am sure this is a series I will continue with as it is a good, light read, with a good setting. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, for review.
