Description

Mitch, a contractor and house-flipper, is restoring a beautiful old house in an idyllic Midwestern neighborhood. Angela, a woman filled with regrets and recently transplanted to his area, is anything but idyllic . She's almost his worst nightmare, and she’s also working on restoring something—herself. As he struggles to keep his business afloat and she works to overcome mistakes of her past, these two unlikely friends soon discover they have something unexpected in common—a young mom who is fighting to give her children a better life after her husband's incarceration. While both Mitch and Angela are drawn to help this young mother survive, they also find themselves drawn to each other. Will a lifetime of regrets hold them back or unite them and bring redemption along with true love?

Restoring Love, part of New Hope Publishers’ line of contemporary missional fiction, demonstrates how God can turn our greatest tragedies and failures into beautiful acts of love and grace that can impact the lives of others. Readers will connect with the realistic characters and find they can relate to the complex situations that makes Jennifer Slattery's book so appealing. Readers will be inspired to see how God wants to use us to restore people's perception of love in action.

It is a resilient, authentic, moving story about restoration. There is Bianca and her two kids - one is a teenage daughter and Bianca and her - well Moms - the mother daughter thing is going on there and Bianca is trying hard to bridge that love gap - Bianca is trying to believe in GOD but it is getting harder and harder but Mitch and Angela are both examples. Who are Angela and Mitch? I am glad you asked. Angela moved in across the street and she has some problems in her past that she is having to deal with plus she has a new job - talk about anxiety. She met Mitch in church - Mitch works in the neighborhood fixing up old houses - now Angela is aware of Bianca's hardship and she of course tells Mitch - now also Angela is not in any mood to date - just thought I would drop that on you. Angela's heart has been touched by GOD to help Bianca and her family. Will she do it or is she going through so much right now and she pass it onto Mitch? Is something going to happen to Mitch and Bianca? Or is something going to happen to Mitch and Bianca? Is something going to happen to help out Bianca? Is Bianca ever truly let GOD help her restore true grace and love to her life? This book is about restoring GODly love and grace. It is fresh, genuine, empathetic, and contemplative - it sure makes you feel many feelings and that is definitely a sign of a great novel.

Contemporary Christian fiction at its best!
Bianca and her children are trying to make ends meet while her law-breaking husband is in jail. Her story is interwoven with two other story lines. Mitch owns the house that Bianca is renting and is in the process of restoring other homes in the neighborhood. He is divorced and hurting from his own family issues. A lovely, single lady, Angela, moves across the street from Bianca. Angela is fighting her own silent war with the past and her angst of beginning a new career. She has no time for dating but is full of God's love and passion to help out anyone in need. Her heart breaks as she watches Bianca and her children under so much pressure and heartache. Mitch is a Christian man who meets Angela in church and then realizes that she lives in the neighborhood that he is working in. This book is a testament to God's restoring love and grace working in everyday people's lives. It is a sweet story with the heartache of everyday life being transformed by faith. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a contemporary novel.

This is a wonderful book. Angela has finally reached the point of changing her life and I truly admire how she goes about it. Reading this story was an uplifting experience. Mitch's character, as a godly moral man, is super. I would highly recommend this book.

Sometimes God puts us in places where He needs us. Sometimes He provides situations, in the places where we are, to do good for His Kingdom. This story is set in the new neighborhood of Angela. Moving to town for a teacher's aide job, Angela finds herself in a mixed neighborhood in transition with rising and falling home values, rentals in need of repair, and herself in the temporarily empty home of a missionary family. Next door to her, Angela finds Bianca and her school-aged children. With her husband in jail and her job in jeopardy, Bianca needs a hand. She's wary and not to sure about the God-thing, but He's getting her attention. Angela, with a difficult path yet on a redeemed future, has just the background to help, if Bianca will let her. A catalyst for the two women is Mitch. He's a house flipper and his partner wants him to cast out Bianca and family due to past due rent. Thank good for Mitch's heart and his own family's issues because it makes him compassionate toward both Bianca and Angela.

We ALL have things in our lives that we wish weren't so. We've all made the wrong decisions at times. But God is in the restoration business! This story, with realistic and lovable characters, illustrates how God sometimes uses even our bad decisions to later help someone else. A wonderful story of God's love and redemption.
