Derek Velez Partridge was first inspired to pen The Book of Kringle - Legend of the North Pole at sixteen-years-old when he wrote a poem titled “Old Man Joe.” Partridge has been a professional artist for many years, getting his start as a clay potter while living with Pablo Indians in New Mexico. He has made two feature films and is currently in preproduction of a new film called The Devil That Is, story by Edwin Torres, the New York Supreme Court Judge known for Carltio’s Way. Partridge is the father of three daughters aged 11, 14 and 16, to whom he dedicates The Book of Kringle.

A very short but sweet story about elves trying to save The North Pole and Christmas from a grumpy King. However, the real beauty of this book lies in the fantastic illustrations. Absolutely gorgeous.

This is an absolutely visually stunning book. The illustrations are gorgeous, full-page, colourful and children can spend a lot of time exploring them. The story is short and cute. It takes place in the North Pole where a greedy king is making the elves mine crystals so he can sell them and get rich. His brother, is happy, light-hearted, loving, everything his brother is not. When King Kringle decrees there will be no more Christmas, Manusol the elf steps in and comes up with a plan. When the kings brother and the elves team up, nothing can stop them. This is a magical tale about the spirit of Christmas. This book can easily become a family favourite at the holidays.
Loved this book. It is a treasure. The story is short but cute and the illustrations are incredible. I can see reading this with your child becoming a Christmas Tradition.

This book has beautiful artwork and a great story to read near Christmas when your children start asking about Santa and the North Pole. Totally worth the money

With its beautiful full-page illustrations, this book is not only a treat for children, but for the parents as well. In addition to reading the story, there is a multitude of details to explore in the colorful and impressive pictures. In contrast to modern animation-like picture books with defined contours, clear colors and reduced content the images in this book seem more vibrant, exploding with colors and overflowing with detail, reminding me of old paintings.
The exciting story about the mean-spirited King of the North Pole, his friendly brother, the cute little elves and the uncovering of the real Santa is sure to find its place on a family's yearly Christmas reading list. A treat for the eyes and a wonderful Christmas present.

The gorgeous, jewel coloured full page illustrations bring this child's festive story to vibrant life. It is a tale about the origins of Santa Claus with a nice message about each person having a special talent that is not always immediately obvious thrown in. The pictures are definitely what makes this tale special and would ensure the book would be treasured by both children and adults alike. There's so much to see on each page that the inevitable rereadings would be a delight instead of the usual chore, the book is just beautiful.
Coupled with David Wenzel's gorgeous full-page illustrations, this wonderfully magical story is the perfect book to read during Christmas.

I accepted a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is the sort of book that must be purchased and appreciated in a print version. E-readers just do not capture the beauty and magic of the stunning illustrations. This is also the sort of book you want to hold in your hands and share with a child sitting close together.
The story is charming and not scary, even though it begins with the ruling king being a greedy meanie. It does have a happy ending and a nice moral about everyone having talents, even if they don't know immediately what they are.
This book would make a fun television special.
This is a nice Christmas story that parents will enjoy reading to their children. I don't think that young children will be reading this on their own. Younger children may need a few things explained to them during this story. This is the beginning of the legend of the North Pole and Santa Clause. There is a mean king here and the elves are treated badly. Each elf has a certain ability that makes them each special. The king wants all elves to bow to him and they aren't sure this is what they want. The story is good and the illustrations are well done. I received this ebook from Smith publicity and netgalley.
