This book felt very done before but I had a hard time getting into it. I tried reading it, then tried the audiobook, but I find myself not really liking any of the characters. Maybe I needed more character development early on or some secret that we were trying to find out to better catch my attention.

As soon as I saw the cover, I knew I had to read this book. I found The Astrology House to be an entertaining read and I look forward to more books from this author.

I really enjoyed this locked-room mystery, and thought the addition of astrology was wonderfully woven into the storyline without being cheesy. I'm always a fan of multiple POVs, and there was a satisfying variety of characters to bring on the drama. Everyone has something to hide, and it all came together in a fantastically twisted way in the end! Definitely a great read!!

This book started out slow for me but did start to pick up towards to middle and then took a nose dive. There seemed to be so much build up to the twist and then it just kind of ended. I wish the ending had not been so rushed.

Holy Toledo, Batman - this book was wild.
Which is exactly what I look for in my mystery/thrillers!
It had that perfect balance of predictability (that lulls you in) and surprise (to keep you on your toes).
Fair Warning: there are definitely some HEAVY topics in this book - and while I highly recommend it, if you are at all sensitive to certain topics, please tread lightly - including, infertility, forced miscarriage/termination, and cheating/infidelity.
I also, of course, really enjoyed all the astrology aspects, which is what pulled me in in the first place!

Full disclosure: I will read pretty much any book if it is astrology or tarot themed so naturally I had to pick this one up. I loved the little cheat sheets we were given periodically about the characters on the retreat (I'm no expert so I'm unable to say whether the analysis of the birth charts was accurate). I should have bookmarked them, though, because towards the end I had a bit of a time remembering the connections between a few of them and their spouses and occupations.
So, anyway, you have a bit of a slow build up and then all of a sudden everything happens all at once when all is revealed. That ending though... whaaaaat.....!?

This was a good popcorn read. I feel like it started off pretty slow and there were a decent amount of characters to get to know, but the ending was done really well.

This was an incredible debut, I loved it. I'm on a big thriller binge kick this year, and this is in as one of my favorites to recommend. I love resort stories, and this one about an astrology themed resort sounded right up my alley from the second I heard about it. I didn't expect just how much astrology would be centered in the book, which is maybe my fault because I am silly -- it clearly says it in the title, lol! Still, I was surprised at how much of the focus was on actual astrology, and thought it was super cool to see the way the author used real astrology knowledge as a way to describe the characters, their interactions, and their connections. Very unique, and THE TWIST! So good.

Thoroughly enjoyed this debut thriller. It felt original and pacy. I loved the setting, the drama of the storm and the interesting dynamics between the characters. The astrology aspect was particularly interesting and compelled me through the book.

The Astrology House by Carinn Jade is a captivating exploration of astrology and its impact on personal relationships and self-discovery. The narrative weaves together the lives of various characters, each influenced by their astrological signs, revealing how these celestial forces shape their decisions and connections. Jadeβs insightful writing and rich character development bring a fresh perspective to the world of astrology, making it accessible and engaging for both enthusiasts and newcomers alike. With its blend of humor, romance, and a touch of mysticism, this novel is a delightful read for anyone looking to explore the intersections of fate and free will.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to receive this book for an honest review.
I was in a reading slump and decided to give this one a try. I enjoyed the story and how it involved astrology. It was good mystery will a great twist. I highly recommend this one. You will not be disappointed.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
Iβm a little backlogged with my ARCβs but working diligently to get caught up. I really enjoyed the unique premise of this book! Iβve read a lot so itβs nice to get something with a different spin on the weekend retreat with friends/family. Iβve always been interested in astrology so I thought that was a great touch as well and made the story more complex. I definitely didnβt see the twist coming and I can usually predict it! I would highly recommend if you like thrillers and mysteries!

Stars Harbor Astrological Retreat is claimed to be a place for rest and relaxation. It is known for its unique itinerary of relationship building and chemistry based on your astrological sign knowledge of course.
When this friend groups books their stay, they are looking for answers, guidance, and finding connections that they feel slipping away. But during their stay all their nasty little secrets surface and someone has a completely different itinerary in mind. Dun, Dun, Dunnnn!!
Astrology + Drama...Seriously Say less
This is one that will give you a face full of drama and leave what the heck is actually happening sitting on the tip of your tongue. The astrology aspect isn't really the hugest part of the plot, but I feel like it had the perfect amount to make the plot flow perfectly. It keeps moving at a very steady pace making it hard to sit down. The drama pulls you in and you end up staying for the creepy and mysterious happenings.
Some of the characters are a little insufferable and feel a little too spoiled for my liking but you do get to see a deeper sight into their lives and hardships explaining why they act the way that they do. But I wouldn't say it is one to read to grow connections with the characters but one to follow along their crazy and just enjoy the ride.
It definitely has some heavy content that I would advise checking out before picking up.
It may not be for everyone, but if you're a lover of rich people drama with a few eerie moments included I think you will love this.
Happy Reading!!!
Thank you to Carinn Jade and Netgalley for the advanced invitation to The Astrology House!

Iβm not sure if itβs because I know next to nothing about astrology or what, but I could not connect with this book. It was hard to keep track of all of the characters and how they were related to each other. I really struggled to follow along and I ended up deciding this book was not for me. It seems like it would be great for astrology lovers.

The Astrology house is the perfect blend of drama and mystery. Four couples show up to Stars Harbor Astrological Retreat where they meet their host, Rini, who has her own reasons for hosting these guests for the weekend. Surprises are around every corner for these guests as their plans for a relaxing vacation quickly devolve into chaos. In addition to the drama brought about by guests and host alike, thereβs a hurricane coming that forces everyone to unpack their unwanted baggage together.
The suspense builds slowly until it finally erupts in a flurry of dramatic twists and revelations in the final chapters. The characters are all deeply flawed, with each and every one of them trying to solve their own problems β and sometimes problems that involve other guests.
Overall, The Astrology House is a compelling page-turner that demonstrates the author's skill in crafting a suspenseful and original story. There was so much thought put into the astrology aspect and how all of the characters fit into this puzzle together.

A locked room thriller with an astrological twist? I'm in. I've always had an interest in astrology, but never really pursued it anything further than that so the idea of a resort that focuses on the natal charts of the guests was fascinating to me. The story did not disappoint. There are lots of strong twists and this a book that kept me guessing right up until the end.
Even if you're not into astrology, this is a strong read.
Thank you Atria Books and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I recently saw this authorβs interview where she mentioned RHOBH influenced this story and I thought, βI have to read that bookβ. Iβm so glad I did! A great story that builds and builds to a great conclusion. Plus if youβre a RH fan youβll see the influences and out right call out.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for this ARC in return for my honest review.

As an astrologer I absolutely loved this. I found its points on the subject accurate for the most part and loved the house despcrition. Great concept and plot.

This was surprisingly juicy! I expected a more somber novel given the title and cover. Instead, The Astrology House is a soapy portrayal of a group of friends who are harboring a lot of secrets. And isnβt a retreat where they are all isolated from the outside world in close quarters the perfect place for their secrets to come bursting out? I certainly think so!
In terms of the structure of the book, changing perspectives made it difficult for me to get the handle on who everyone was and how they relate to one another for the first 20% of the book. As a rundown, Margot is an attorney who is married to an investment banker named Ted. Margot is close to her brother Adam after the two bonded together in a traumatic childhood. Adam is now a secret romance novelist married to a successful influencer named Aimee. Her social media focuses primarily on her children and being a mother, and Adam is not a central figure in her online presence.
Aimee is best friends with Farah, who is a successful OBGYN. Farah is married to a politician named Joe, but harbors secret feelings for her best friend Aimee that only emerged recently. Farah is trying to unpack what it means. Rick is best friends and colleagues with Margotβs husband, Ted. Rick is married to a jewelry designer named Eden. Rini is the owner and host of the astrology-themed retreat. She inherited the house and built her business from the ground-up. The Astrology House is an old Victorian mansion set on the shores of Long Island.
This book is dramatic! So much drama to go around. I dropped one of the earliest reveals (as in, during the first chapter Farah narrates) about her confusing feelings for her best friend Aimee. Let me tell you, that is mundane compared to many of the other secrets this groups holds. I love a group of rich people who behave badly and this group had plenty of that archetype. Several of the characters were sympathetic and likable, so this wasnβt one of those books where you donβt like anyone. The women, in particular, are mostly people who you may not relate to, but youβll understand.
Rini may be the one with the biggest secret and she waits all the way until the end of the book to drop the full story on us (and on her guests). This isnβt a random group of friends staying at the Astrology HouseβRini has lured them there for a specific reason. This made her astrology readings with them extra fascinating. I kept wondering what Rini knew and was injecting as predictions into her sessions. Aside from Riniβs big secret, she also is convinced that she will be dying soon. This comes from a reading from another astrologist long ago who has been eerily correct about many things. Rini has accepted that fate, and sheβs using her last days to take downβ¦ someone in the group. Or more than one person, perhaps! Some of them take themselves down, if Iβm being honest.
Unexpected and fun!

I was lucky enough to meet Carinn Jade at Hamptons Whodunit in April and she talked about her upcoming book, The Astrology House. It sounded amazing and I couldnβt wait to read it.
Well, it delivered! I canβt believe this is a debut. Itβs SO good!
I read this in two days and didnβt want to stop. It had me completely hooked from the characters to the setting to the wonderfully unique plot. The writing is beautiful. There's so much depth to the characters. I felt like I knew them. I could envision each of them so clearly in my mind.
Grab a copy of this one - itβs excellent. Carinn, canβt wait to read whatever you write next!
