This was a great quick read. Perfect for a relaxing weekend that you just want to curl up and read.

The Doctor's Husband is the third sweet romance in The Watson Brothers series written by author Ann B. Harrison. Thanks to NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the advance copy. This reads well as a stand-alone.

The Doctor's Husband is book three in the series by Ann B. Harrison. Unlike the others this one does not have a mail order bride but one that has a hidden agenda. That in itself made her a harder sell for me. Evan needs a date for his brother’s wedding so he asks someone who he wanted to date anyway. This is normal, believable and the way of dating. Dr. Denver Sinclair is more interested in Evan’s respected family name then she is in him. Not my favorite way of starting out a story.

However, I did warm up to seeing these two as a couple mostly because of the relationship building within the story. Evidently, Evan could that there is more to Denver than just her desire to succeed on her own in her career.

I have enjoyed this series from the onset, this story though took awhile for me to warm up to. Perhaps it was Denver's cold calculated drive to get what she wanted, using Evan along the way. Evan was the doormat, yet he was made to feel he was wrong and apologized to Denver over and again.

I did enjoy the brothers and their interaction...the brother dynamic is spot on. The sisters-in-law are the perfect balance who keep them on their toes. The story did pick up steam and became more enjoyable as the more of the secrets unfolded, with accountability placed where it should be. I look forward to the next book, hopefully starting out stronger than this one did.

Main character Denver is kind of a conniving jerk. At first. But as the story line goes on, you can't help but be rooting for her & Evan...and their twist. ;-)

I loved this book i was hooked from the very first page and I couldn't put my kindle down while reading this. This is the first book that I have read by Ann B Harrison and I will be reading more of her work in the future because I loved the writing style of this novel. I also loved the romance in this and I loved the characters as a whole

I am loving these Watson Brothers. Instead of a mail order bride, we have a case of a mail order husband. Denver is a doctor, who is in need of a husband to get a job. The perfect solution to her problem is coworker, Evan. Evan has always had a crush on Denver. To make things even sweeter, the job offer is from Evan's home town of Marietta. So now Denver has a hidden agenda, will Evan go a long with it.

A fun story that will keep you turning the pages. It was great to catch up with the other Watson's. It took me awhile to like Denver, I thought she was just using him. Evan is so in love with her, I didn't want to see his heart broken. I highly recommend this story along with the rest of the stories in this series.

My Review:

This is a delightful story of two doctors, with different goals, falling in love. It isn't instant or mutual initially. In fact Evan has been trying to get Denver to go out with him for two years but she's always rejected him. However, when her dream job turns up in Marietta and they are looking for a local connection, Denver decides maybe she could make use of Evan to her own benefit, so agrees when he invites her to his brother's wedding.

No, initially I really didn't appreciate Denver or her focus on using Evan to achieve her own career desires. She comes over as self-centred, inconsiderate and manipulative. In contract, Evan seems kind, caring and faithful. How these two end up connecting and both falling in love with each other is what makes this a story to escape into. Their journey isn't smooth, with such different personalities and attitudes, there are bound to be obstacles and it would be a boring story without them having to work to overcome them to achieve their HEA. They aren't the only great characters in this story, I especially liked his brothers and their other halves! So don't expect a fairy tale romance in this story, it is a lot grittier than that, but still an enjoyable read and I did get to like Denver in the end!

I was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and chose to read and review it. This is my honest opinion after reading it.

I really enjoyed Evan's and Denver's story. The underlying theme about the dangers of secrets was well carried throughout the book and both characters learned important lessons. I liked that the anger and hurt the characters felt really came though in the writing and seemed deep and genuine - these were deeper feelings of betrayal than often seen in romances. Oh and Denver's father - yikes!

The Doctor’s Husband is a good story, with strong characters and an interesting premise. It’s unfortunate, for me, that I did not, could not connect with Denver until almost the last two chapters. She is perhaps the product of her upbringing, her father’s outdated – living in the 1930’s- attitude toward women and her own ambition along with her desire to prove her father wrong. Try as I might, I simply could not get past her decision to play with someone else’s life, love and needs to further her own agenda. The average woman does not look at a man who has an obvious attraction to her and say… “ya know, this guy lives in the town where I want a top level hospital position but need a local connection – think I’ll use him to get the job.” No, just no. I was faced with something huge about a character that I simply could not get past or easily forgive. So my view of Denver was tainted from the very beginning of this story.

Now, on the other hand, Evan is everything a patient wants in a doctor and a woman would love to find in a husband. A caring, straight shooter who doesn’t play the games of life but lives it fully and honestly. His desire to return home to Marietta and put the big city hospital shenanigans behind him is obvious. His attraction to Denver and his falling in love with her is equally obvious. He deserved so much more than he got. The absolute villain in this story is Denver’s father. He is an oblivious, nasty man that you will actually enjoy loathing.

The Doctor’s Husband is an… intriguing story. While admittedly I could not connect with Denver, it was interesting to watch her change over the course of the story from a woman with no thoughts but her own agenda to a slowly changing woman working to save her marriage for, finally, the right reasons. This story is definitely worth your time, yet it is not a sweet, easy romance. Evan and Denver face almost insurmountable challenges to find a happy ending. It will be interesting to get glimpses of their life together as the series continues.
