I really like the idea behind this book. I like that it has meals for six days of the week, with room for a "cheat day" or whatever you'd like to put in there. I also like that it has grocery lists for each week. The only thing I didn't like, is that I can't eat the same thing for the entire week. Maybe other people can, but not I. This book is great for the single person who is very busy. Definitely not for families. Though, my favorite part was that I didn't need a culinary PhD to be able to make these recipes. They were simple, but not boring. I could identify them, and would be able to make them as a home cook.

This book is a perfect companion and point of inspiration for people like myself who like to prepare their meals for the week in advance, but find themselves stuck in a rut of eating the same basic meals over and over. The authors give a lot of great advice about mixing up routine and finding ways to make healthy foods exciting and delicious, and also save some money on groceries. I can't wait to try out some of the recipes for myself this week!

The presentation of the book is lovely, with beautiful pictures and clear instructions on how to make each meal. This book and I will be friends for a long time to come!

I have no idea why I seem to break out in hives when I think about preparing meals ahead of time, but this book proved to be a balm for those imaginary hives. It's super simple to follow, with healthy meals that include easy-to-find ingredients which I think will actually fit my budget. I'm especially interested in the breakfast recipes since it's the only meal I skip (and the worse one to skip apparently). Prep day action plans actually help me get my head into the game and force myself to make the meals - which are (again) healthy and delicious.

I'm not good at meal planning but this book helped me become confident in doing meal prep now.

I like the idea of this book. Has some colorful pictures.
I'd like to see more variety of meals. Although, I know it's going to require some discipline on the person to meal prep.

I was unable to open this file, so I can't give a review. Sadly I was looking forward to this.

This book was a nice look into healthy meal preps. I loved that this book went to give you portion sizes, and what days to eat them. For someone, like myself, who is new to the world of meal prepping this was a very approachable and needed look into how to do it in a healthy way!

What a great idea for busy families! I appreciate all the tips and tricks in this book. Plus, the pictures are amazing! I can tell a lot of time and love went into creating this book. A definite must have for anyone short on time during the week who is looking to avoid the fast food line. I would also recommend purchasing the hard copy of this book vs the Kindle edition. It is easier to manage and navigate with the hard copy.

Healthy Meal Prep by Stephanie Tornatore and Adam Bannon offers 12 make ahead weekly meal plans. Each meal plan is a mix of four recipes to feed one person for six days. None of the meal plans are overly involved, and everything is laid out step by step. Plenty of helpful tips are offered throughout the book. This would be an excellent resource for a single person who does not want to spend a ton of time in the kitchen. With a little prep in advance these meals are as simple as a frozen single serve dinner and much healthier.

This book takes meal prepping to a whole new level, and gives you tips on things like portion control and budgeting. This is a must have for those new year resolutions about being healthy and saving money. Most of these recipes I had no idea you could meal prep like muffins and pastas.

The format was a but off for me, which is why I didn't give it more stars. It's incredibly hard to view it on my phone. I like to keep my go to recipes handy. This book did have a lot of yummy looking recipes that made me so hungry. Great for any students or busy families.

This book is sectioned into several different meal prep categories such as "Cut the Carbs", "Meatless Monday", "Plant Based Plates" along with daily required actions, recipes and helpful notes. There are also shopping lists in the back. The recipes themselves don't seem all that groundbreaking but they do sound delicious. I love the photos though. This is the type of book I like to peruse just to get a sense of everything well organized.

Thank you for allowing me to review this book. I love the concept but did not like most of the recipes. This might be a great book for someone else but not me.

I was very interested in this book as a homeschooling mom, looking for a way to make lunches a lot easier for me. I know that meal prepping is a weakness and I really loved the story of this couple who lost weight just by meal prepping and controlling portions.

That being said, I really love the vibrant pictures, especially all the meals prepped side by side, but I just wish there were more of them! Not all the recipes had their pictures by them and if something looks good to me, I want to see it again with its recipe. As a bonus, the book is sprinkled with lots of healthy snacking tips and cooking tips.

I enjoyed looking through this cookbook and I'm excited to start putting some of the ideas in to practice.

I loved this book; it has everything one would need for meal prep from shopping lists to recipes, and my personal favorite, the action plans. I liked that recipes called for simple ingredients because I could get them at my local store without any issues, and the action plans/ recipes were simple to execute.

5 helpful, wholesome stars to Healthy Meal Prep ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Confession time. I meal prep for the week on Saturdays. It’s not pretty. Sometimes I get stressed out because I wreck my kitchen and have to clean it all up, after cooking all day and being super tired. But during the week, I don’t have time to cook and am always so grateful that all my meals are prepped. Bonus is that my freezer is always well-stocked, too.

Enter Healthy Meal Prep. It does exactly what I wish I would do. It offers a game plan for cooking where things can overlap, and you aren’t running around like crazy. 😝 It’s just a more organized use of your time. I don’t do this well. I either take way too long making each meal separately from start to finish, or when they overlap, I am freaking out about what’s about to burn.

I’ve seen some negative reviews about eating the same foods repeatedly during the week. Each meal plan offers one breakfast and three main dishes for the week. That is more than I typically make (I am lucky if I can get breakfast and two mains made), and this takes up the majority of a day, especially when you include putting it away in all the containers, labeling, and the yucky cleaning up part. So, yeah, us meal preppers do have to repeat some meals... But if you plan ahead, you can freeze stuff, so that you can have more variety in a given week, and the best bonus— sometimes I get to take a week off because of it! 🎊 🎉

Several weeks worth of meal plans are offered. Each with the game plan of how to prep and cook each meal with overlap time-wise. The recipes are clear, and beautiful pictures are included. Also included are simple snack ideas, as well as vegetarian and vegan substitutes, which as a vegetarian, I really appreciated (though I’m used to lots of subbing). I especially enjoyed the two weeks that were meatless/vegetarian recipe weeks and plan to follow one of them soon from start to finish to see how much time I can save with the game plan. The recipes look delicious. Healthy, low carb, minimally processed ingredients, whole foods. This book is organized well and has me super excited to try a few things.

I Healthy Meal Prep five stars because the recipes are fresh and delicious-sounding, the book clearly took a lot of organization, and especially because if this book ends up saving me time (and heartache!) in the kitchen, it’ll be worth its weight in gold.

Thank you to Stephanie Tornatore, Adam Bannon, DK Press, Alpha Books, and Netgalley for the digital copy to read and review.

Healthy Meal Prep provides the overwhelmed novice home cook with lessons about the basics and benefits of meal prep. Each meal plan consists of 4 meals and includes a shopping list, action plan schedule, and step-by-step instructions. Tips for storage and reheating are also included as well as any final preparations to take it from prep to plated meal.
The meal plans include recipes that are healthier comfort foods, fake-away options, and some classics. Along the way Tornatore and Bannon share benefits to portion control and mindful ingredients -- without needing esoteric ones. They include a few basic suggestions for swaps (cauliflower for lower-carb; eggplant for meats); however, if you are vegetarian, you may prefer their Plant-Based Meal Prep (2019) instead.
This reviewer feels the layout is best geared to reading in print, your mileage may vary when viewing digitally. It is a book published in 2017 and portions may feel dated a mere five years later. Overall, Healthy Meal Prep is a good introduction for cooks unsure where to begin to learn about meal prep over just-in-time cooking.
