Description

After spending a decade as a couples therapist, I was disturbed by a statistic that says couples take up to six years after problems start to get help. What I knew was six years is too long as these couples came into my office worn out, stressed and struggling.

I found myself thinking, “It doesn’t have to be this way.” I wanted couples, just like you, to get life-changing information years earlier. So, I designed Relationship Reset to give you everything I wish my clients had known before they came to see me.

Relationship Reset reveals the secrets to becoming a better couple through exposing valuable information from current research and identifying critical insights that make relating easier. By reading Relationship Reset you will learn:

- The Core Elements—define what’s “normal” for your relationship to experience and how to navigate through the tough spots.

- The Mind Benders—learn to take personal, thought shifting actions that will change your relationship for the better.

- The Muscle Builders—engage in exercises together that will strengthen and stabilize your love for a lifetime.

Crafted specifically for all couples, Relationship Reset focuses on making committed relationships last by offering simple and essential skills in an interactive format. Whether at the beginning of your union or well down the road, this book will revolutionize your relationship!

As a licensed marriage and family therapist the #1 issue couples seek help for is communication. Relationship Reset helps individuals and couples understand why they can’t seem to communicate effectively with their loved one.

Relationship Reset provides a 6-Stage Change Cycle for Committed Couple Relationships: (1) You and Me, (2) We, (3) I and I, (4) The We/I Plateau, (5) The D-Factor, and (6) Us or Me. This is a profoundly informative and helpful tool that provides information on the patterns of life cycle for the individual and the relationship. Most importantly, however, it helps to answer the question: “Is this normal?”

What I enjoyed most about this book is how the author addresses the relationship patterns and roles we inherently assume and which are encoded in childhood interactions with our early caregivers. Understanding your own preferred or default position/s helps the individual critically assess its usefulness, or lack of, in your current relationships. A child of an alcoholic parent may have learned to over function in order to pick up the slack however now as an adult in his/her relationships this subconscious need to over function can create resentment, intimacy problems, and perpetual fighting. Understanding why we do things helps us to change how we react to things.

I highly recommend this book for individuals, couples and anyone who wants to learn more about themselves and why they keep repeating the same old patterns.

This was an excellent relationship book. I highly recommend it.

Sometimes you feel like you have issues in your relationship. This book points out that many of them are normal issues that everyone deals with. I think it would be a great read for newlyweds so they don’t overreact when there is a small conflict of differing opinions in their relationship. These days it seems people expect perfection from their spouse and may give up to early on a marriage.

Great tips for strengthening your relationship. Even has some thought-provoking exercises.
