A fluid narrative and powerful story of a soldier's time during WW2. Art finishes the war in a POW camp, surviving solitary confinement by vividly remembering better times. After the war the story follows Art's internal suffering and how it affects his young family. Today he would have been diagnosed with PTSD, at the end of WWII PTSD wasn't even acknowledged. Art's story is the story of many war survivors ... yesterday AND today.
