CRETE 1941 - A LOST SECRET IS DISCOVERED

During the German invasion of Crete, an air raid destroys a church revealing an ancient Christian scroll buried under its foundations. It is discovered by Callidora, a young Cretan shepherdess. She meets Hans, a German paratrooper who helps her understand the significance of the scroll. Callidora’s family accuse her of collaboration with the enemy and disown her. While Hans’ commanding officer, Captain Wolfgang Kohlenz, will stop at nothing to force Callidora to reveal the scroll’s secret.

LONDON 2005 - A GLOBAL CONSPIRACY

Richard Helford, an MI6 analyst caught up in the London bombings, helps Masood, a Muslim dying from injuries sustained by the bomb on the Piccadilly line. Masood appears to recognise Richard, who wonders whether they’d met in Iraq when he’d worked there during the occupation by Allied forces. Richard had returned to London, traumatised after his SAS bodyguard was killed by a suicide attack. The London bomb begins to trigger his recollection of the incident in Iraq which had previously been lost in his memory. As Richard searches for answers he discovers a family secret which draws him into a conspiracy of global significance.

What is the connection?

If its secret is revealed, it will invoke the terrifying predictions of the Book of Revelations. The book that predicts the end of the world. Arab terrorists want the prophecy revealed but the CIA, Mossad and MI6 want it destroyed.

Advance Praise

"An amazing read, thought provoking and at the same time oddly disturbing! Finally a conspiracy novel on a grand scale; can't wait to follow the adventure, as it continues in the remaining volumes of the trilogy." "A powerful prologue opens the book with a bombing that begins this tautly written emotional journey. With a global conspiracy in the works, the author convincingly engages the reader by tying together different times, different cultures, all with compelling writing. Intense, driven, fast paced, and with plenty of credibility, Mark writes well and invites the reader to join in with this the first book in a promising, powerfully composed trilogy. Allow yourself plenty of time to delve into this long and involved book, you will not regret the time invested. Highly recommend for an educational, enlightening story."

This is a suspenseful/thriller that usually I would not have picked up, but once I did I could not put it down. It would keep you until the end and leave you thinking about it for days. That good. The only think I did not like is that it is part of a series, and for the most part I do not like reading series because they leave me waiting for the next installment too long. If you like movies and books about spies, you will not be disappointed.

A good debut. Well written-although a little too long. The characters/setting were good. I don't want to spoil it and give any of the plot away. Recommended 4 stars.

Really enjoyed this novel. Very detailed and at times complicated plot but executed very well by the author. I am looking forward to the sequel. Characters are well defined and the story within a story moves along at a great pace.

Richard is a British man in I think his thirties who works in intelligence for the British government. Not the James Bond type just manning the Greek desk.. His father disappeared on 9/11 and is assumed to be killed in the World Trade Centre attacks while Richard himself almost died due to a suicide killer in Iraq. In the beginning of the novel he is in the Tube (underground railway in London) when one of the 7/7 suicide bombers blows himself up taking many with him. One of the mortally wounded seems to recognise Richard and gives him something what triggers a quest for answers and a lost item.
The story switches sometimes to World War Two Crete were Richard's own grandfather was helping the Greek fighting the Germans..
The writer manages to give us an intriguing puzzle. Unlike in many adventure novels the people's characters are really three dimensional.
A really good read!

I was very happy to read this book. It was exiting to read, and hard to put down. The chapters were small so it was easy to say "just one more chapter" and before I knew it was finished.

The end of the book went very quick, but I think it would not have worked if it were longer. Then the suspense of the book might have disappeared. But the build of the book was very good, all though it was a bit messy in the start to get used to the writing style.

I did not like the decision made in the end, it would have been a good book on its own. Still I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series.
