Description

Undercover…
Shrapnel damage to DARK Officer Matt Leoni’s eye could cost him his vision and the only family he has, his colleagues. Chafing at desk duty, he jumps at a gig to find a traitor in the U.S. embassy of a small Mediterranean country. But Matt’s undercover role means working with Nadia Parker, a documentary filmmaker who believes he betrayed her five years ago to get evidence on her father. Worse, Matt still wants her and has orders to spy on her.

On the run…
Despite Nadia’s anger at having Matt in her film crew, she can’t deny her renewed attraction to him. When rebels set off an explosion in the crown princess’s office, embassy security believe Nadia and Matt are the bombers. In the smoke and confusion, Matt pulls Nadia to safety and they flee into the streets of Washington.

He’ll risk everything for her.
Unable to rely on DARK or the authorities, Matt is determined to protect Nadia, clear her name and find answers. As the two of them work together, trust grows between them and leads to passion, but both harbor secrets that could tear them apart. A bold plan to foil the traitor’s assassination plot could place Nadia in the crosshairs, and time is running out.

Dark Vision by Susan Vaughan is listed as the first book in the Dark Series now. This is not a book that I had read before, but I have read other books in this series written earlier. The best that I can figure out is the series has been reordered to be more in line with the correct sequence or that this is a spin-off of the original series.

With the above said, this story is suspenseful, intriguing and romantic. It is a second chance at life and a second chance at romance. DARK Officer Matt Leoni is eager to return to the field after an injury. Looking for a traitor at an embassy seems to be the job for him. Working with filmmaker, Nadia Parker puts him with someone from his past. Their story throws them together in danger, on the run and unable to rely on the powers that be. Self-reliant characters have you rooting for them early on to survive, find the real terrorists, clear misunderstandings and find the trust needed to love again keep this book one rollercoaster ride of a story. No matter if it is first, last or in between in the series this is a remarkable page turner.

Dark Vision is a well paced drama with the theme of Who Can I Trust?" The characters are developed enough that readers will be able to hold on and enjoy as the story unfolds. Susan Vaughan created a story with humor, romance, drama that moves long at a quick pace.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for a Copy of Susan Vaughan Dark Vision.

This is book one of the DARK Files series. It is the only book in the series that I have read and I did enjoy it. It read as a standalone.

DARK Officer Matt Leoni is on light assignment while recovering from an eye injury. He is working on guarding Modena's Princess Sarika and trying to find a traitor in their embassy. The only catch, he has to rely on the help of a woman who thinks he betrayed her trust to arrest her father. Nadia Parker must put aside her feeling and help Matt keep her best friend safe.

The story had a good pace and the characters were well written, although I felt like there could have been another book with these 2 characters. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
