In Doomsday Girl, P.I. Dan Reno takes on a case involving a murdered husband, missing daughter and a mother/wife recently out of a coma. The clues take him into the world of Doomsday Preppers. While this is #6 in a series but can easily be a stand alone read.

Dave Stanton takes the reader into Dan Reno's investigative process, giving important information to further the story in such a way that it appears to be more like reading over someone's shoulder than being given a lecture.

The story is fast paced and interesting.; a good read for people who enjoy a good P.I. story.

The Doomsday Girl maybe the sixth novel in the Dan Reno series but easily reads well as a stand alone.

Melanie was a character who my heart went out to instantly. To wake up from a coma to learn her husbands dead and her only child is missing it's unimaginable what she must be feeling. When we get to meet her parents who hire Dan to solve the case, I felt even more sorry. I even felt sorry for Dan as I wouldn't want clients like them. Melanie's father tries to act like he wears the trousers in their house but it is very obvious that it's his wife that wears them. She is very rude and abrupt and didn't like her at all. I think me and Dan pretty much felt the same way about her.

I was really intrigued as to why someone would target this family and especially in to why they would take the daughter. It makes for some shocking and horrifying reading when all comes to light.

It was great to see the wild Cody having to act like a dad in this book. We have only ever known him as the fun loving and risk taking guy that he is, so seeing him in this new light was actually quite sweet.

Throughout this series Dan and Cody have matured in some respects. It's always good to see characters developing throughout the series and the author has done this really well. I think sometimes it is easy to get bored with a character or a series but Dave Stanton breathes fresh air into each book making each one as entertaining and enjoyable as the last.

The Doomsday Girl is a gripping and thrilling read that had me hooked from the first page to the last. Would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a fun and thrilling series to get themselves lost into.

I was a bit late coming to the Dan Reno series by Dave Stanton and I'll surely be catching up quickly! As a lover of both crime stories and TV shows, I'm left feeling like every book is like THE best episode of your favorite crime show. Never a dull moment, Dan's laid-back attitude has me laughing every time and I can't help but both laugh and shake my head at Cody constantly. Quick-paced, yet easy to follow, I couldn't put this one down and finished it in a day. Very quickly becoming one of my favorite mystery/PI series.

This is the third captivating Dan Reno book I have eagerly devoured, and although it is the sixth book in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone book. With the eventual assistance of his ex-cop friend, Cody Gibbons, private investigator Dan Reno is hired by Walter and Lillian McDermott to find the intruders who beat their daughter and murdered their son-in-law, and also to find their granddaughter, who had been presumably either kidnapped or killed. Reno demonstrates fine investigative instincts while endeavoring to operate within the boundaries of the law, albeit leaving behind dead bodies in his wake, all in self-defense, while meting out justice. If you are looking for a fast-paced thriller, this is most definitely a must read.

Doomsday Girl by Dave Stanton
Dan Reno #6

This series is one that I truly enjoy. I know the roads and land Dan and Cody travel and can see just what is happening as the stories unfold. Dan is not perfect but he and Cody do get the job done. Both have histories that make them more interesting than most characters one runs into who are trying to uncover information as they sleuth out truths, find murderers and kidnappers and then deal with situations most of us would never wish to encounter. If I had to have someone in my corner I do believe I would want Cody and Dan to be there for me.

So in this, the sixth book of the series, Dan is hired by a rather nasty tongued older woman and her husband to find the murderer of her son-in-law and bring home her kidnapped granddaughter. Why is she not willing to wait for the police to do their job? Well, it has been nearly two months with them twiddling their thumbs and she wants answers. Dan is not enamored with Lillian but takes the job anyway.

With one lead and then another, a map, police reports and more the bad guys are sussed out, dealt with and there is finally closure for widowed Melanie and her family.

What about Dan? He and his longtime girlfriend, Candi, might be moving into a more permanent relationship soon. What about Cody (do love Cody)? He may have found a woman unlike his usual that may provide him stability and hope for a better future, too.

I am eager to read more of this series and can’t wait for book seven!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bloodhound Books for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Dan Reno certainly a private eye I could become fond off. This was my first encounter with him and not usually the type of story I would read yet I found myself unable to put it down.
The pace of the story was fast and a huge amount happens in just one week as well as a vast amount of miles being covered but it was written well and was believable.
No spoilers but I felt every bullet and alongside our hero felt the anxiety frustration and concern.

I'm sure I'll read more of Dan Reno

Happy Publication Day! The Doomsday Girl is book six in the brilliant Dan Reno series and is the final chapter, I am sad to have finished this series. It does read well as a standalone but would recommend reading the series in order.

Dan and Cody are back for their final case, could this be their toughest case yet? Will Dan be able to find the missing ten year old dead or alive? A brilliant, action packed, explosive ending for this series. They say qgo out with a bang and Dave certainly did that for the reader.

A cleverly written story, I found myself getting lost into this case and beside Dan wanting to help. I found the Doomsday Girl an easy and fast paced read even when it does contain long chapters. I have loved reading this series as a whole, something different within each book which keot this series refreshing. I would highly recommend to you all. Another well deserved four stars. A brilliant cliffhanger of an ending to, leaving the reader to finish the story for themselves. Loved it.

I don't think that I'll ever get bored with reading about what Dan Reno gets up to! I have everything crossed that he makes another appearance in yet another book. He is far too addictive.

Personally, I think that 'The Doomsday Girl' is the best book in the 'Dan Reno' series so far. Whilst all of the previous novels have been extremely gritty, I think that Dave Stanton has pushed the grit to another level where his latest novel is concerned, that's for sure.

Dan Reno gets called to a job to investigate the whereabouts of the daughter of recently widowed woman, Melanie. According to Melanie, two males got access to her home, murdered her husband, kidnapped her daughter, and left Melanie herself unconscious. Why did the thugs choose Melanie's house to rob? What Melanie's husband hiding something illegal? And why did they feel the need to kidnap a ten year old girl? With a difficult case to crack, a young girl to find, and a woman who claims she knows nothing about her husband's illegal activity, Dan Reno has his work cut out. To top it all off, the woman who hired him to do the job, seems to have a tongue much sharper than a knife. With time not on his side to find the young girl alive, Dan Reno is adamant that he won't let Melanie's mother get to him.....we all know that she will!

Look, I've never been married and right at this moment in time, I don't see it ever happening, so do excuse my naive question here, but how on Earth does a husband keep so many things from his wife, and why on Earth does she think that his issue to tell her things is normal? Surely you're supposed to trust your spouse with your life, not involve them in anything that will kill them, yet have no secrets from them at all? Am I being daft here or what?

I did think that Melanie was just playing dumb, coming across as a weak and feeble woman to distract any males from doing their job. Pardon my blunt analysis there, but I got the feeling that she knew a lot more than she was letting on. Either that of she is just severely gullible, I'm not too sure.

Of course Cody is back on the scene, why wouldn't he be! This time around though, we see a very laid back Cody as he attempts to rebuild his relationship with his daughter, Abbey. If Dan Reno though that dealing with Cody on his own was hard enough, try dealing with him AND female version of him. I loved Abbey's bluntness, but her arrogance left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Definitely Cody's daughter then!

I was very impressed at how intricately detailed the entire storyline was, keeping me interested with the snippets of information along the way. It was fab to see a PI work from the inside because I had absolutely no idea how much their job is like finding a needle in a haystack. Well, I probably did but I didn't really pay much attention to the logistics until they were laid out in front of me, just like they were in 'The Doomsday Girl'.

What a highly charged, gritty, fast paced, and detailed read this is! I loved everything about the storyline, especially the pace - I couldn't put the book down at all, I just had to find out the truth about Melanie's husband and whether Dan Reno found her daughter or not. Finding out more information than I bargained for however, wasn't in the plan nor was I complaining at all because wow, the suspense level increased drastically!

Definitely his best book yet, 'The Doomsday Girl' is such an addictive read and if you're anything like me, you'll be begging for another book before too long. What a cracking novel!

As with all the books in this series The Doomsday Girl can be read as a standalone although as with any series to get full character history you might be better starting at the beginning. I can definitely recommend this series every book is action packed with the added bonus of two brilliant characters in Dan and Cody!

In this story Dan is hired to discover the truth behind an assault, murder and disappearance and it's safe to say he has his work cut out for him. I liked the fact that I was kept guessing as to what the motives were for the crime. Melanie's character added something a little different to this book and it was great to play detective and see if I could put the clues together. The locations used in this series are perfect as I love some of the calm and serene places shown but you also get to see what lurks underneath. In this story Las Vegas is one of the settings and you can really get a feel for the darker more unsavoury parts of this city.

As ever there is plenty of action and thrills especially when Cody gets involved, together Dan and Cody make an amazing team and I love how attached to them I have become. I loved the addition of Abbey she was bright and determined and was basically a chip off the old block! The pacing of this story is really balanced with an attention to detail at times, then at other points in the story it is gripping and fast paced which makes for a very compelling story. I really hope there will be more from Dan and Cody!

The Doomsday Girl has surprises and an action packed plot guaranteed to keep you reading until the very last page!

Four stars from me!

Melanie Jordan’s life was perfect until some intruders break into her house looking for gold. She ends up in a coma for a month and awakens to learn that her husband has been killed and her ten year old daughter has been kidnapped. Melanie’s mother hires Dan Reno to find her missing granddaughter and to catch the men responsible. Dan doesn’t really like Lillian but he wants to help Melanie.

Dan finds it odd that Lillian is pushing him to solve the case since it has only been two months. But he quickly finds himself in a multi-state jurisdictional mess. But he keeps going and finds himself in quiet a mess and in the middle of doomsday preppers. He also finds a lot of action that is going to keep him on his toes if he is going to stay alive and solve this case.

Dan is a great investigator that tends to find himself in odd cases, without enough information, and lots of trouble. Of course you have a simple story that is going to have a lot of twists and turns trying to find the truth and a lot of action to keep you on the edge of your seat. If that was not enough, Dan also has his girlfriend which is looking like they are ready to take the next step. I also loved seeing Cody as a father. It looks like things might finally be settling him down too.

I love this series and when I learned it is the last book I was very sad. I now I have missed a couple books that I have missed and I will be catching up. I can’t wait to see what Dave Stanton is going to come up with next.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.

I am delighted today to be one of the bloggers closing off the blog blitz for The Doomsday Girl by Dave Stanton!

This is the sixth book in the series and I have to say that I have found out one of the most enjoyable series I have read in a while!

The characters are well developed, they have brilliant personalities and sometimes, you aren't really sure what you are going to get from them so they books and plots are always quite varied!

I really enjoyed this one and would say that this is the best in the series so far, and being book six, that does take some doing as a lot of writers in this genre drop off so far in to the series - it is very good!!

An excellent story that I loved - 5 stars from me!!
