Description

One week, six years ago was all they had before secrets and lies tore them apart. After hurling words like daggers before they’d parted, they never dreamed they would see each other again. If they can open their hearts, they might be able to let go of the past and build a future.

Francesca “Frankie” O’Connell was a woman in a man’s world. A former Marine and star wide receiver in a women’s football league, she was used to always following the play. When an old friend offers her a chance at her dream job it also comes with a place that might be the secret to her father’s recovery from a stroke. Working with the man who broke her heart wasn’t something she prepared for. Will the one who got away throw a wrench in all her new plans, or will he help her succeed beyond her wildest dreams?

Rushford Avery hadn’t planned on settling in King’s Folly permanently. Accepting a job at Cormac University was supposed to be temporary until he got his grandmother settled in her childhood hometown. Then it was back to England and his plans for his future. Instead, every day he planted deeper roots and became more involved in the lives of people in the community. He hardly ever thought about the woman who’d destroyed him six years ago with a few well-chosen words. Will her reappearance in his life help him strengthen his place in the community, or tear it out at the roots?

Rush and Frankie still have chemistry for days. The problem is their vivid memories of the circumstances that tore them apart are just as powerful. Their jobs, an unexpected dance competition and the reappearance of an ex push them together and force them to confront the lies and secrets that have haunted them both for six years.

Will love help them look past their mistakes and find their destiny together?

As a one off read this was ok, however sadly found myself unable to be absorbed in this story and characters,

A second chance, chemistry off the charts, and a love of football in common should really spell a match made in heaven. But emotional scars, conflicting agendas, and personal commitments may very well be too many obstacles to mend what was broken in the past.

Frankie and Rush are complex characters that both have vivid memories of the love that wasn’t meant to be; but the reasons they were once so perfect together, still simmers beneath the surface of their volatile reunion.

Love in the Zone is a great edition to the Gridiron Knights and is well-written story with an appealing cast. Sports, angst, drama and sexual tension; what more could a reader want!

Elizabeth Spaur writes not only a deeply passionate love story with real and distinct plotlines and primary characters but also developes secondary characters and subplots that are interesting without becoming distracting or overpowering the plain storyline. She introduces new friends as well as old old favorites without leaving the reader feeling overwhelmed by too many people and situations in which to keep track.

This is the second book in the Gridiron Kinghts saga I’ve read. Although it’s a continuation in a series, I really felt I could be reading a standalone. There wasn’t the feeling that I might have missed something by not reading the prior books and the author didn’t spend time alluding to, or over rehashing, past situations. She did a good job of filling in blanks in a ‘brought up in the regular course of conversation’ way that would naturally occur as you brought someone new to a situation up to speed.

I also enjoyed the fact that although the love scenes were passionate, they weren’t overly gratuitous or pulled focus from the main story. It felt like a natural part of the story instead of the reader being force fed erotica.

I also laughed out loud, getting many a weird stare, numerous times throughout this book.

Although you don’t have to read the prior books to enjoy Love in the Zone, Elizabeth Spaur makes her stories so interesting you’ll want to go back and read the series from the beginning. Any lover of the romanctic genre will want to add Elizabeth Spaur to their list if go-to authors.

An enjoyable read, with a romance and a mystery in the story. Great characters, and although this is the first book of the series I have read, I don't think it mattered. I'm not American so some of the college and sport terminology was lost on me!

Very good book! I really like this series!! You don't have to read the whole series to enjoy the books though! This book was my least favorite but I still liked it a lot more than what I've been reading! This is Francesca and Rushford book, Fran is a woman in a man's world, former marine and star wide receiver in a woman's football league. She gets her dream job as a football coach at Cormac university! Rush also gets offered a job at Cormac but doesn't think he's staying long and can't wait to get back to England! They met six years ago and got hot and heavy but Fran listened to rush ex garbage and thought he was a cheating jerk! So they get thrown together and the sparks are still there! It's a really good story! It was funny, hot, action, drama, suspense! Definitely don't miss out on this one! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me for an honest review!
