Rita is an American part-time English language teacher and freelance reporter for an English language tourist magazine struggling to raise two young boys on her own. Bernard is a French geologist under contract to the Mexican government to search for underground thermal springs. She dreams of finding Shangri-la after witnessing a bloody government crackdown from which she barely escapes. He dreams of having a yacht and sailing the world. Their dreams mesh, and they immigrate to Canada to earn the money to build their boat.

Wow, any unbelievable journey that’s full of adventure, understanding and heartbreak that will delight you and intrigue you; wishing you could go, but in the end will make you happy just to read it about it. The storyline reminds me of Micheal Palin (Monty Python fame) world adventures with its connection to the people, the food and place and no matter where you go, people are happy to try and connect with you. Of course It’s not all fun an games, but that is something you’ll discovered as you read this fantastic book. Happy journey

This book was a nice surprise. Pomade writes eloquently about her experiences, making this a lively and enjoyable read. Highly recommended!
