Description

Cursed by the Key of Forgetting, Seth has lost all memory of his past—his relationships, his experiences, and who he really is. For now he will align with his new mentor, Ronodin, the dark unicorn, who takes him to the Phantom Isle, the secret gateway to the Under Realm. Though Seth is not formally a prisoner, Ronodin wants to use him and his shadow charmer powers for his own dark ends.

Kendra is frantic to find her missing brother, but the quest will take her and her companions, including Warren, Tanu, and Vanessa, far from Wyrmroost to Crescent Lagoon—a recently fallen dragon sanctuary made up of many islands and underwater domains. Its caretaker has regained a foothold on one of the islands. If Kendra and her friends can save that sanctuary, they might uncover the answers they need to rescue Seth.

With each sanctuary the dragons overthrow, Celebrant, the Dragon King, comes closer to the dawn of a new Age of Dragons. With the forces of darkness on the march, can Kendra and her allies gather enough power to win the epic dragon war?

LOVE the Dragon Watch continuation of the Fablehaven series. And I was thrilled to see this galley was the full book rather than the preview they did with the second book. So much goes on in this installment. Since Seth and Kendra were separated at the end of the second book this one alternates from their different perspectives and it really enhances the story. Mull was really able to pull out all the stops and do some interesting things with Seth. Can't wait to see what happens next!!

Brandon Mull has done it again! This book got me from page one. It is hard to give a review of this book, I don't want to spoil the story for anyone else. The book starts right where the clifffhanger of his last book ended. There is quite a bit of light versus darkness and good versus evil. What a great plot with descriptive writing. This series is every bit as good as Fablehaven. Find out what happens to Seth, Kendell, Calvin, Knox and Tess. There are two more books planned to finish the series.

This book picks up right where book two left off, Seth has disappeared after loosing his memories and Kendra is fighting for Wyrmroost. But really if I tell you much more it will give things away so I think I will stop here and just say if you have liked the other books, you are going to love this one! It is full of action and suspense, manipulation, unknowns. There are new creatures to join with and fight against, I just find my self in aw of Mr. Mull and his awesome imagination that brings this whole world of Fablehaven to life for us the readers. If this is your first book I suggest you start at the beginning at lest of the Dragonwatch series if not of the Fablehaven series, you won't regret it. It is a pretty cool world, one where every specie can be good or evil, dragon, fairy, and unicorn.

This will appear on my blog Oct 1st

Brandon Mull has the ability to grab my attention from page one. Master of the Phantom Isle picks up right where book 2 left off and takes the reader on a wild ride! Seth has lost his memories and been kidnapped by dark forces. It's up to Kendra to find him AND restore order to the Dragon sanctuaries that are under attack. Love this installment in one of my favorite series and cannot wait for the next one!!

As a fan of Fablehaven and Dragonwatch, this highly anticipated book was eagerly devoured. We left Seth with no memory and at the mercy of his enemies. His special skills as a shadow walker have lain dormant for years. Now we get to experience his growth-but under the tutelage of his former nemesis. Fast paced and action packed, the story keeps the reader guessing. I feel like this book needs to come with a warning label: Do not start this story without an open calendar. Putting it down before it was finished was almost painful!

Brandon Mull paints a vivid fantasy world in Master of the Phantom Isle. I most appreciated the book’s inventive use of otherworldly characters.

I would be glad to read more work by Mull in the future.

A definite winner! When I began this series, I wasn't sure that I liked it as much as the original Fablehaven series, but I thought Brandon Mull did a great job with this book. It can't be easy writing a book from the point of view of someone who has lost his memory of who he is--his entire identity. And yet, as we progress, we know that Seth has still retained his true essence. It's interesting how he rediscovers that even while he struggles with his dark powers and what he has done or not done. In this book, the book is split fairly evenly between Seth's point of view and Kendra's point of view and she searches for him and Bracken, and as he struggles to learn his powers and how it impacts (good and bad) with who he wants to be. Some old friends come back (Warren and Vanessa) and you see a little bit more from their cousins, Knox and Tess. Although the story clearly continues at the end, it's a perfect set-up for the next book, but it still feels like a complete story. I am now going to wait patiently for the 4th and 5th book, but it's going to be hard!

Special thanks to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. And a great big thank you to the author for such a great story!

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for letting me read and review this ARC. I have always enjoyed Brandon Mull and all his books ever since I was introduced to Fablehaven.
All of his books have been 5-star reads and my favorites so it was no surprise that this was another 5 star read and another favorite to add to the list.
This is the third book in the Dragonwatch series, which is a sequel series to Fablehaven full of all sorts of magic, adventure, and great teaching/learning themes for younger kids in it as well. I always love the reading guides at the end of the book that helps get the reader thinking and discussing what happened in the book with all the choices they face and what happens.
With this third book, it picks up right from where the second book ended and flows well. It has a new perspective with Seth and a challenge he faces that makes things difficult as they continue on their journeys to help with the war with the dragons, the dangers in the magical world, picking sides and continuing to search for Bracken also. Things continue to develop more with the characters, the war with the Dragons, the journey and quests - there's a lot to digest and the end leaves you wanting more and anxiously awaiting the next installment in the series.
If you haven't read the Dragonwatch series, then hurry and get started so you're ready when this comes out! You don't want to miss this wonderful, exciting and thrilling installment of this fantastic imaginative series!

What an exciting way to write this book; one character completely loses his memories and has the abilities of a shadow charmer. Seth's biggest frustration throughout this book is that people keep telling him who he is, and he wants to be by himself to decide this. He is not sure who to trust, and he is being manipulated left and right. Meanwhile, his sister continues on the battle to save the sanctuaries from destruction by the dragons. What I loved most about this book is that both characters got to shine and figure out more about their abilities. Especially Kendra as being fairy kind and the ending was nerve gripping as she battled it out with the under the king. I am excited to check out the next installment.
