Description

There’s trouble in paradise, in the hilarious second book of the Red Frog Beach Mystery Series.

This series is one that I will be watching.

~Baroness’ Book Trove

Ready to go back to the beach?

Lexie Milano left her heart in Bocas del Toro, and the new and improved New Yorker makes the big choice to move to the laid-back Caribbean island permanently. Piña coladas, white sand beaches, and a little cabin of her own on the edge of the rainforest complete her picture of the perfect tropical future awaiting her. But if it looks too good to be true, it usually is. . .

When the body of a beautiful wealthy local is found at an isolated surf camp, the owner calls on Lexie to help him figure out who did it in this delicious whodunit. Reluctant sleuth Lexie first turns to the police, but her sudden access to a treasure-trove of island secrets convinces her it’s time to solve another murder on her own.

Favorite characters from Drowning Lessons return to grace the pages of this comedic mystery, including Migs, the handsome photographer; Lloyd, the genius with the cryptic past; and Lexie’s new best friend, Detective LaGuardia. Between old friends, new associates, and the added potential of shark attacks, The Wipeout Affair will leave you laughing and guessing until the very end.

“This book can be read as a stand alone.”

Advance Praise

This story is much more than a cozy mystery. It is a dramedy where literally everything that can go wrong does. Twists, turns, craziness, and good old mayhem fill these pages all on an idyllic chain of islands . . . This was a fun book to read and a great start for this series.

~Escape With Dollycas Into A Good Book

Drowning Lessons is filled with humor from beginning to end, not to mention several twists along the way. It’s the perfect beach read.

Having enjoyed The Drowning Lessons i was very excited to read The Wipeout Affair. The book didn't disappoint. Lexie decides to leave NYC behind and move to Boca Del Toro. When one of her new friends is found dead and suspicion falls on her friend and a part time employer she dives into the murder to prove that he's innocent. Island secrets are uncovered and it's up to Lexie to find the real killer. Although i figured out who the murderer was relatively early in the book it was still an interesting read. Was hoping for a bit more romance between Lexie and Renny. Looking forward to future adventures!

This is Book 2 in a series, but very readable as a standalone. Lexie Milano has left NYC to live the island life - beaches, palm trees, tropical drinks. She tries her best to put aside her fear of howler monkeys, banana spiders, and the water to embrace the full experience.

When Jazz - Lexi's friend and snorkel encourager - turns up dead, Lexi once again finds herself in the middle of a murder mystery. There are some characters from Book 1 and several new ones. The story is generally fast paced and light enough to breeze through quickly. Sometimes I like to have a read that's fun and easy, and enjoyed this one.

I received an ARC from NetGalley, and am sharing my honest opinion.

An entertaining and engaging mystery. Interesting location. Unusual characters. I share her discomfort with the water. Proud of her progress.

I enjoyed this book, but felt it was badly edited as sometimes it was too wordy for the plot to flow smoothly. If you like a lot of explanation and detail then you will probably love this, but I did skim through some passages just to get to the action.

Great read!
Yes, it's technically a murder mystery, but really it's all about island life and what it means to live where everyone knows everyone and there is nowhere to escape.
Lexie moved to Panama, to a little island paradise and despite being terrified of water, she is enjoying her new life... until one of her best friends on the island is murdered.
The murderer has to be on the islands and it is someone she knows... and somehow she gets involved in solving the mystery - again!
It's a fun read, and there's nothing like dreaming of the perfect life in paradise!

The Wipeout Affair by Rachel Neuburger Reynolds is the 2nd book in the Red Fog Beach Mystery series, and another fun addition. I found this book to be fun with many twists and turns to keep me reading. The plot and characters are well developed, and I enjoy the quirky characters in the book, several that have returned from the first book, Drowning Lessons. I highly recommend this book, and am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you.

When I finished Drowning Lessons I was completely taken with Rachel Neuburger Reynolds writing full of wit & mystery. By the end of the book, I already added the second installment - The Wipeout Affair to my tbr list! The Wipeout Affair also left me fascinated by the beauty of Bocas Del Toros, Lexie's sarcasm filled monologues & most of all the mystery. I found it compelling & funny in equal measures. I find this series humorous & hope to read the next soon! This was a good break from all the dark thrillers I've been quarantine-reading.

After the events from the wedding-from-hell, Lexie finds herself enamoured by Bocal del Torros. Making a life-altering decision of leaving NYC for the simple joys of the beautiful Panamian Island. Budding friendships with the locals make Lexie confident she's finally rid of all the toxicity in life. Determined to overcome her fear of the water Lexi enrolls in snorkeling lessons are develops a friendship with the enigmatic Jazz. She finds two part-time jobs at the islands & becomes good friends with Detective LaGuardia. Staying in a sunny paradise also means she gets to socialize with a fair share of handsome beach bod hunks.
When the body of a beautiful wealthy local - Jazz is found at an isolated surf camp, the owner calls on Lexie to help him figure out who did it in this delicious whodunit. Reluctant sleuth Lexie first turns to the police, but her sudden access to a treasure-trove of island secrets convinces her it’s time to solve another murder on her own.

I liked that this book saw the return of many characters from the previous books. It gives it a sense of continuity. The new characters too were very good! I really like Lexie's inner monologues with herself. The wit is a refreshing change of scene from my usual picks. I was looking forward to picking up from where the last book left off, but that part was just mentioned in casual passing! Hopefully, there will be more adventures for Lexie to go on and I can't wait to read about them!

Thank You, NetGalley, BooksGoSocial & Rachel Neuburger Reynolds for an arc!

I read the first book in this series and definitely still recommend this series. This book is highly entertaining and suspenseful. This book shows Lexie growing as a person and coming into her own. Of course, there is another dead body that comes along to rock her boat, but after the first one in the first book of the series, she can handle it. These dead bodies continue to come, but Lexie grows and changes as a person, for the good. Fun and entertaining.
