"This book is like Neopolitan Ice Cream! You get several flavors (genres) in one book! I wasn't sure how that would sit with me, but it sat well! It took me a bit to feel the characters, but once I did, the action, the historical tidbits, and the backdrop of India drew me into the fray. Great research and imagination at work on this one. Good job CJ!

This was a fun, entertaining take on the zombie genre. It's well-written with developed characters I actually cared about seeing what happened to them. I really love that it's not just a hack-and-slash zombie killing story. Instead, it's focused on the characters, their relationships, their struggles and developments. It's very relatable and leaves you asking yourself what you would do in the same situation. I'm really looking forward to the next book!

In the well-trodden zombie genre there really isn't much grass left to trample. But somehow Fisher manages to find a few patches and tromp them to flat new paths. Focusing on character and their responses to zombies, rather than only on gore, is a two-thumbs-up move. Also, the writing is professional, especially rare in undead circles, and well-edited. Yes, this is a 5 star, sure as sure.

This is a promising YA series, and I loved the first book. The character development was excellent, and I found myself far more impressed with the character's journey's than distracted by gore. Still, there was lots of action and danger to keep you hooked. The Cursed Chronicles is sure to be a very addictive series.

C. J. Fisher grabs your hand and literally drops you into a an ancient world of classic villains and valiant heroes, instantly drawing you in. The fact that there are zombies (or curseds~as I prefer to call them) running around in the 1800s is a backstory to four main characters whose lives intersect quickly in the first book of The Cursed Chronicles series; Enemy Rising. What struck me most about this novel, was the excellent character development and knowledge of both Indian and British culture. Fisher provides a glossary of Indian terms used in the book which I enjoyed browsing through to see if my inferences while reading were correct. I am looking forward to book two in the series, I believe you will enjoy this read

I really liked this historical take on a zombie apocalypse, it brought character depth (Sarah and Charley are my favorites) and action drama to a period piece not unlike one of my favorite Netflix shows - Kingdom. The exotic locale and gritty realism made this a fantastic read. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed this story from start to finish. The setting gave a fresh breath of life to a fairly familiar and overdone genre. Both the plot and character development were top notch. A great read for horror and science fiction lovers alike."
