Abducted is a work of thriller and mystery fiction penned by author Linda Watkins, and it forms the third book in The Kate Pomeroy Gothic Mystery Series. The novel contains no graphic content and is therefore suitable for readers of all sensitivities. As Dr. Kate Pomeroy prepares to put the terrifying mysteries and supernatural goings-on of her past behind her, trouble lurks nearby once again. Just as Kate thinks everything – including her wedding with Jeremy – is all settled, she herself is abducted and taken away from everything she knows. With little to go on and a future that’s looking dark, it’s a matter of time to see if Kate and Jeremy can be reunited again.

Author Linda Watkins has created a truly suspenseful and psychological mystery novel, unlike anything I’ve ever read before. To find the ‘detective’ figure of the story caught up as the central victim of the kidnapping is a rare and enjoyable treat, for as capable as Kate is, she is still in real, emotive danger as the novel begins. What follows is a well-crafted plot that is penned to maintain that suspense for an impressive amount of time, with little plot points being delivered here and there: snippets of clues to keep readers guessing and hungry for more. What results is a deep, slow-burning and highly engrossing read, with plenty of surprises and plot satisfaction as you near the story’s end. Overall, Abducted is highly recommended for dark, psychological suspense fans and thriller and mystery readers alike.

Abducted: A Kate Pomeroy Mystery is the third book in the award-winning The Kate Pomeroy Gothic Mystery Series by Linda Watkins. Dr. Kate Pomeroy is preparing for her wedding and while she is in town to fit her wedding dress, she is abducted. But that is not the scariest part of the experience. What is most disheartening is that she is taken into a very strange and violent world. All that she's toiled and dreamed for is lost. Can she survive the challenges of this world and is there any hope that her would-be husband, Jeremy, can uncover the clues and rescue her in time?

This is a mystery that begins with a powerful premise. A woman who is excited about getting married is not only torn away from her dreams but ruthlessly plucked out of her familiar world. The sense of pathos is strong and the reader wants to know by what miracle she can be rescued. And the author does a great job of weaving exciting twists into the story, getting readers intrigued and curious about what comes next in the plot. The novel is emotionally rich and I enjoyed how the author explores the conflict. Abducted: A Kate Pomeroy Mystery is a novel by a master story crafter, with prose that is crisp and descriptions that are vivid. If you enjoy stories with strong characters and ingenious plot points, then this one is for you. It is a delightful read.

Dr. Kate Pomeroy returns to town to be fitted for a wedding dress. The last thing on her mind is the possibility of being kidnapped and trapped, taken from everyone she loves. She's getting married to her love, Jeremy, in two days, and that's her only focus. Abducted covers a life-changing event that takes her away from everything familiar, lending yet another twist to Kate's story in the third book in the series.

Newcomers might anticipate that prior familiarity with its predecessors is required, but Abducted provides a satisfying recap of events from previous books, neatly setting the stage for Kate's latest challenge in only a few short paragraphs.

The history neatly blends into Kate's abduction, her fiancee Jeremy's frustration with investigative proceedings, and the involvement of a Russian operative who had tried to murder her, had been deported back to Russia, but somehow returns to make Kate's life a nightmare.

There's no mystery about the perps and their purposes, but the central focus is on Jeremy and Kate's separate struggles to survive kidnapping, torture, and a devious plot to enthrall her forever.

When Kate reaches out to one of her abductors, she slowly uncovers the rationale behind not just their actions, but their psyches. Ripped from her home and everything familiar, she faces many challenges; but perhaps the biggest question of all is whether she can be the same person she was if she were to go home again.

Engrossingly realistic in its stories of physical and mental torture and the puzzling goal of the kidnapping, Abducted is not your typical 'whodunit', but a 'whydoit' that keeps readers involved, guessing, and on edge throughout. As Jeremy tests his own ability to prove a worthy consort to the courageous Dr. Pomeroy, he also questions whether they can ever to return to what they had, even if both survive.

Enthusiasts of international intrigue and women recovering from life-altering events will relish the psychological tensions and intrigue that permeates Abducted right to the end. Prior fans will welcome the opportunity to absorb yet another step in Dr. Kate Pomeroy's personal and professional evolution.

4.5 Star Review from Self-Publishing Review:

Linda Watkins delves even deeper into the darkness with Abducted, the third installment of the Kate Pomeroy Mystery Series. The previous books are standouts in the modern mystery genre, and this psychological race against time may prove to be Watkins best yet. This lengthy read may be a touch long-winded at times, but it is also rife with pulse-pounding tension, so these pulp fiction pages fly by. The tone of the writing is consistently gritty and evocative, and Kate Pomeroy once again proves herself to be a worthy heroine at the heart of this exciting series.

This book encompasses many women's ultimate nightmare. It was engaging, but I would not recommend it to high school students due to the traumatic nature of the content.

Imagine your worst nightmares, only this time they are real. And you don't know where you are or if anyone will ever find you. Katy, a doctor, is abducted a few days before she is to be married by Vlad, a powerful , dangerous man who escaped from authorities. Jeremy, her fiance , along with the FBI frantically search for her. She is held captive and is physically and psychologically tortured by Vlad and his daughter. What does Vlad want with Katy? Will she survive his sick twisted mind? This book was a great twisted scary ride. I enjoyed every minute of it!

This would make a great movie. It’s a dramatic, nail biting, thrilling reading experience which manages to bring together a great plot with relatable characters. I was glad to learn it is part of a series as I will definitely read those now, but the books stands alone. The writer manages to paint a picture which is all too real when it comes to the more traumatic aspects of the main character’s experience - really well done.

#abducted is a gothic mystery novel which is part of a series. This book is not the first in the series and I felt a bit lost and missing the back story from previous novels. The characters of Dr Kate Pomeroy and her fiancé, lobsterman Jeremy Bradshaw are interesting and very realistically depicted. The actions in this are graphically portrayed and may be disturbing to some readers but in my opinion are crucial to the plot. I am excited to see where the characters go next and how the good guys and bad guys interact again. Hopefully the daughter of the bad guy gets her day in the spotlight in a future novel as she is quite interesting. Thanks go out to #netgalley and the publisher for this ARC to read and review ahead of publication.

Truly encapsulates every woman's nightmare for herself and anyone she holds dear. It was difficult to read at times because of the graphic nature but that was part of what made it great!
Scary, mysterious, and mind-blowing all at the same time!

Back in town for a wedding dress fitting, Dr. Kate Pomeroy has no idea that someone is watching her ... very closely. Normally, very aware of her surroundings, with her wedding scheduled for the following weekend, she could probably be forgiven. But she's going to wish she had paid more attention.

Heading for a taxi after her fitting, she is abducted... by whom? why?

She'll have plenty of time to ask herself those questions as she is mentally and physically tortured.

Well written, highly suspenseful, this is an excellent addition to the series. Although this is the 3rd book, it is easily read as a stand alone. I recommend that the books be read in order ..just so the little gems that make really good reading are not missed. The characters are solidly drawn and interact within the swirls of twists and turns.

The first two novels are Storm Island and The Tao of the Viper.

Many thanks to the author / BooksGoSocial / Netgalley for the digital copy of this psychological/crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Doctor Kate Pomeroy is finally getting where she wants to be in her life and about to marry the love of her life Jeremy and the people who tried to kill her are behind bars for good. That is until she learns that they struck a deal for immunity and are being deported to Russia. However, they managed to escape and Kate finds herself kidnapped on her way home and locked in a ship. During this time, she will find herself tortured and sensory deprived, and drugged as she tries to fight for her life and stay as strong as she can. Back home, though people are searching for Kate, her fiancé Jeremy knows that he can do better as he has contacts from his military days and they can explore places that the police can't and go through back channels. As Kate continues to experience torture, can she hold on long enough for Jeremy to find her or will she succumb to her kidnapper's demands and fall into a state of Stockholm syndrome as they play the Good Cop/Bad Cop routine? Find out in this fast-paced mystery by Linda Watkins. Though this is Book #3 in the series, each can be read as a stand-alone as I haven't read anything by this author before but felt I could follow this story and Kate's previous encounters with her kidnappers. If you are looking for a new mystery author to add to your list, then check out Linda Watkins with her Kate Pomeroy mysteries.
