I read an advance copy of Dive In! Devotions for Kids, by A.L. Rogers. This devotional is for 8-12 year olds, but adults can benefit from it too. It shows kids how to read and understand the bible, relating to the kids with examples of relevancy in their lives.
Looking for a colorful devotional for your 8-12-year-old that will enrich their relationship with God? You will love Dive In! Devotions for Kids: Go Deep with God by Understanding His Word by A.L. Rogers. It has a fun aquatic theme for diving in (pun intended) to God’s Word.
My son will be 8 in two months and he is loving this devotional book. He can read it on his own and is obsessed with all things under the sea and has professed for the past 3 years that he will be a scuba diver when he grows up. We both enjoy discussing what he’s read.
I like that each daily devotion starts with a question to the reader or has the first sentence directed towards them. This engages your child right away. There is a key verse and devotion each day along with a Dive Deeper section for a little more studying, prayer, or fun facts. It is a nice length for this age range and the dive deeper doesn’t add too much extra time.
I received an ARC from Our Daily Bread Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
I read a lot of devotionals, and I love that this one is geared toward kids (ages 8-12). Though I'm outside the target audience, I was still able to enjoy and benefit from the readings.
The devotion will likely engage young readers with its bright colors and aquatic theme. Kids can read it on their own, or it could be done with an adult so that a bit of conversation could take place about the devotion, as well.
Each devotion starts with a question, which is a bit different from most devotional books geared toward adults. There is a key verse and a "Dive Deeper" section with each entry. Each one is short enough to work into a kid's busy day.

Dive In! Devotions for kids, is a easy to understand devotion for little ones. Not only does it cover key beliefs in the Christian faith but it also has devotions about meeting certain people in the Bible. I loved the dive deeper section at the end of each devotion. It helped my kids have a chance to look deeper at what the scriptures say and provided more things to think about which furthered our discussion time.

Dive In! Devotions for Kids is a devotional especially for 8-12-year-olds. These devotions are all short enough to keep the child's attention while long enough to dive a little deeper into the topic of the devotion. The topics range from prayer to Bible stories to knowing God more. Each devotion finishes with a "Dive Deeper" section that includes a couple points like questions or a recommendation to read further about the topic in the Bible. These devotionals can be read by children on their own; but I think these also create space for conversations with adults. I think this is a nice, basic devotional for children.
