Featured Reviews

I loved this book! As someone who's a perfectionist but also often struggles with speaking up and speaking confidently, I've really benefitted from Denise Woods's guided advice and exercises.

This book is divided into five distinct parts: Relax, Breath, Voice, Articulation and Communication. Within each, the author uses an approachable, conversational tone which I personally found very effective - it doesn't feel like I'm doing homework. There are plentiful personal stories I could resonate with. Finally, the exercises in every chapter have been super effective for me - for example recording myself read/say certain things and then analyze myself.

When I first reached for this book, I thought that it might not be that great because how can I train The Power of Voice without a teacher who would give me individual advice. While that would be useful, this guide gave me enough knowledge and really good exercises that I've seen much improvement even without anyone's help.

How frustrating is it to be told by all the different sources the things you must do to be successful in life? This book definitely does NOT do that. It instead takes an empathetic approach and gives bite size approaches and allows you to have kindness and patience with yourself when dealing with life. This is so necessary for everyone to read in life. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
