A fancy book with lots of recipes that goes well with wine. There are recipes for snacks and bites, dips and spreads, cheese, vegetables, bruschuettas, seafoods, meats, sauces and cocktails. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

These recipes are made to pair with wine. The pictures are eye catching and the recipes sound delicious without being a ton of work.
I plan to try these recipes first:
Spicy glazed cashews
Romesco spread
Cheddar nut wafers
Pork & ricotta meatballs
I also like that the recipes sound like they’d work for a regular evening at home or a party.

This recipe book has me craving for a time prepandemic when I could host cocktail parties! This has so many great recipes for both snacks/small foods as well as cocktails! This is going to be great for when COVID dies down! I can’t wait to make a ton of the recipes, my mouth was watering looking at the photos in this book! Not only are the recipes great but the book is stunning and so well organized and easy to follow!

When I read the title, I thought this book is about recipes being categorized by which kind of wine. I was wrong. So, there are recipes and in each recipe, the writer will suggest what kind of drink that suits that dish. If you already have a specific wine in mind and wonder what kind of dish you want to make, you should go to the glossary. I think it is easier if it is categorized by type of drinks. Anyway, the book has various options, some of which I am so familiar with. There is also something new I learned from this book, for example, the picked eggs. I never tried those before.

This is such a gem!! Especially during this time of year when it’s seldom you’re able to go anywhere, having your own wine tasting with exact pairing is perfect.

This book was very beautifully made and I'll be trying some of the recipes in the future. They were all very creative but simple which means it's accessible to those who aren't too familiar with wine and/or cooking.

Great book for wine drinkers like myself. I can not wait to pair my wine with some of these recipes. Would make a great gift for a friend

Wine Time by Barbara Scott-Goodman is filled with wonderful and fun recipes. All recipes have a wine pairing. I love detailed wine pairings, but unfortunately this book doesn't really get into why a certain wine pairs well with a certain type of dish. I did enjoy the chapter about cheese a lot and thought it was a nice quick guide.

Great pictures, I did find the content slightly disappointing in that the recipes were nothing u inquest and overly ingredient and time consuming
for what might otherwise be put together simply.

Wine Time by Babara Scott-Goodman introduced some appetizers that I had not previously associated with being paired with a wonderful wine at a relaxing party. The photograph is immaculate and the recipes are fast, simple, and have clear instructions on how to create the foods included in this book. Barbara has a way of making her readers hungry and makes them all want to be professional wine tasters. I love how she includes the recommended wine pairings.

Ok, this is exactly the cookbook I was looking for! I LOVE wine and this book is a perfect complement! Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, but the recipes are amazing and not out of this world difficult. I have already marked all the ones I will be trying right away for my family and friends. There is a section on cheese that I found particularly useful as well.

Thank you for allowing my to review and discover this gem of a cookbook!

If you spent 2020 drinking boxed wine and surviving off Uber eats and now you are ready to pair a decent wine with some yummy home cooked meals, do yourself a favour and buy this book! I really enjoyed the wide variety of recipes from snacks to meals to cocktails you'll be covered for plenty of events and meal needs. Lots of fun options be great insight into which wines to pair, something it's a more broad recommendation and other recipes have more in-depth explainations for the pairing which is great because you can find a local wine and avoids being pretentious.

This is a fabulous book with great, easy to understand and prepare recipes and the pictures are so beautiful. I rarely by a “real” book but I will definitely purchase this one. I especially liked the section on Charcuterie, it was so helpful to have all the components outlined and explained, I am not sure that there are a lot of new and inventive recipes but lots of tried and true recipes that were maybe updated but were great reminders of good basic food.

I love the idea of Wine and Food pairings in a book but believe there are areas of improvement in this one. The food parings are what it says on the cover - 'simple bites' - mostly appetizers or a standalone meat vs meals. A great way to tie this book together would have been to create some meal options, where a menu is set using the recipes and wine that would work well together (i.e. a summer feast with fresh veggies, seafood and rose).

Some of the ideas felt a little too simple and rudimentary (i.e. grilled snow peas - I don't really consider that a dish worthy of a spot in a cookbook). I also always wish for more pictures in a cookbook. In an ideal world every recipe would have an accompanying picture. I appreciated the tips included throughout the book (i.e. 'Buying Seafood') and would love to see some tips on buying wine!

Wow what a stunning book. If it didn’t include recipes it would be the perfect food porn book for the coffee table. I still might buy a copy just to have around. Perfect pairings and excellent recipes for when we can all gather again.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a book of recipes that go well with wine.

There's a variety of recipes broken down by meat, dip, dessert, etc. I like recipe books that have pictures of each recipe and the recipes that have pictures are beautiful, but not there's not a lot of pictures. The book also notes which wines go with each food.

It's a nice guide to hosting happy hour and preparing foods to go with wine!

This book was received as an ARC from Chronicle Books in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

Everyone enjoys a glass of wine (I especially love one after a long stressful day, there is nothing more relaxing). Barbara Scott-Goodman shares over 70 recipes to enjoy with a glass of wine that will sure brighten the meal and even enhance flavors. I was really impressed on the variety of dishes she expressed throughout the cookbook and all the varieties of wine you can have with each dish that will pair perfectly. Unfortunately we can't consider this book for a future cooking demo however, there are a lot of patrons that will have an interest in this book who love to plan parties and have an interest in wine parings especially the select few that are studying to be sommeliers.

We will consider adding this title to our TX Non-Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

I am officially obsessed with this book! I received a free digital copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, and I am definitely going to be ordering a hard copy for myself as well. I can't speak to how the wine pairs with each dish (because honestly I don't know that much about wine) but these recipes are perfect!

What I like most is that nearly all of these recipes are accessible and aren't very time consuming. The ones that are time consuming are super easy (like caramelizing onions...takes a while but isn't hard to do). Almost all can be made a day or more in advance which makes the entertaining process much easier. The layout and photos are gorgeous and I can't wait to try some of the recipes--I requested this at the perfect time because I think I'm going to try a few of them for family Christmas dinner!

This is a great book full of recipes for delicious appetizers and tapas type dishes. There's everything from spreads to bruschettas to meatballs and seafood recipes and guides to making homemade pickles. There's also a section for wine cocktails if you want to go beyond a straightforward bottle. Wine Time will definitely inspire you to elevate your next wine and snack night- I can't wait to give these recipes a try!
Many thanks to Chronicle Books and NetGalley for the advance copy,

I love this idea for a book. Beautiful pictures. Great looking recipes. The only thing I find that would have made this a more useful reference was to include wine suggestions with each recipe - sometimes that is the biggest struggle that I have.

This delightful cookbook marries all the best things about wine and food in a beautiful package. Filled with gorgeous pictures and delicious recipes, it makes you want to gather all your besties I together and celebrate something!

The recipes are relatively simple though some of the ingredients are specialty and might be tough to find. Nothing is overly prepared and favors fresh flavors and simple styling.

It definitely made me hungry and thirsty and ready to try a new wine cocktail! Pick it up when it releases in March!

What a great book that combines two of my favorite things wine & snacks/appetizers! The book is beautiful with appealing pictures & attainable recipes. I will definitely be trying the Mushroom & Goat Cheese Phyllo Bites, all the dips, spreads, & bruschettas, and the wine cocktails! The cheese board recos were also super helpful and a great reference!

Thank you Barbara Scott-Goodman, Chronicle Books, and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. #WineTime #NetGalley

The photos in this book are attractive and tempting.
The instructions are clear. Since the holiday is near, really hope I can try all the recipes.

First, let me start by saying wine is my thing. I love drinking wine, I love trying new wine, and I love learning about wine. However, I dislike the stipulation that white wine pairs with fish, red wine pairs with meat. Why is it frowned upon to drink a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon or Pinot Noir with my sea bass?

Barbara Scott-Goodman does an excellent job of putting those pairing “standards” to rest. She suggests Pinot Noir to pair with salmon and Riesling to pair with sausage! Just the thought excites me. The recipes sound absolutely incredible. There are sections for dips, small bites, crostinis, and even full meals with both meat and seafood. We had the ingredients to make her deviled egg recipe (one of my all-time favorite foods) and looked through our wine and (incredibly) found a Cabernet Franc that she suggested be paired with the eggs. Let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious!

I thoroughly enjoyed that the index lists the paired wines, as well as the recipes, so you are able to look up food pairings for the wine you have on hand. I will be purchasing “Wine Time” when it is published, as it will be a beautiful addition to my large stack of cookbooks.

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for letting me have a sneak peak of this cookbook!

This is a beautiful book. The recipes are easy to follow. The layout is strong. I particularly liked the seafood and meat chapters as sometimes you crave more than small bites. We particularly liked the following recipes: Warm pimiento cheese sandwiches, all the pickle recipes, the spicy grilled chicken bites, and the caramelized onion and bacon jam.

Thank you to the publisher for giving me an Advanced Readers Copy in return for my review.

Wonderful recipe book for anyone who loves entertaining. Recipes included are delicious, accessible and beautifully photographed.

I was worried that this book was going to be looking down its nose at me, a beer-and-takeout kind of eater. I was surprised at how accessible the recipes were. I would never try something like Orange-Scented Olives & Feta on my own, but the ingredients and technique makes it possible for anyone to make this dish. I'm especially excited to try the Pork and Ricotta Meatballs, the Bacon Jam, and the various pickle recipes. I do wish that the book were organized by wine pairing rather than course. Because the book is all about pairings, I'd be more inclined to start with a wine and find a dish from there, rather than vice versa. I think it's hard for me to fully appreciate this book, which felt centered around entertaining, when we're in a surging pandemic and can't make the most of these recipes. I hope I'll remember to come back to it when we can eventually gather again.

Entertaining can be a bit stressful, but Wine Time makes preparing to host a gathering approachable. With the beautiful arrangement of photos and smart overviews of cheese and charcuterie, plus helpful preparation tips for party foods perfect for gatherings, this is a book a person could turn to again and again to perfect hosting any social event. What sets this book apart is that it demystifies the challenge of pairing wines with the suggested recipes. This, in itself, is a treasure for shopping and preparing for hosting duties. Additionally, recipes are easy to follow for the home cook while allowing for that bit of presentation and flare that makes guests feel enticed by the food. You'll want to invite people over just to share these delightful and reliable pairings.
(ABOVE: this is what I'll share on Goodreads. BELOW: Just an observation).

One line from the introduction strikes me as oddly placed: "Even though there are so-called rules about pairing certain wines with certain foods, feel free to throw these out the window." This line feels out of tune, especially since each recipe was aligned with a wine or a selection of wines to pair with the carefully connected recipes. Also, another aspect of the cookbook that makes me tilt my head and raise an eyebrow is including recipes for pickled vegetables - things that are notoriously difficult to pair with wine and not something that is typically seen at a dinner party. Overall, I liked the cookbook and successfully tried some of the recipes, but I do think that any oenophile would put the book to the side and say, "Next."

Wine Time includes 70 simple and scrumptious recipes that go with your glass of wine perfectly. From snacks & bites, dips & spreads, vegetables, bruschetta & toasts, seafood, meat, sauces & condiments, to how to build a charcuteire board this cookbook has it all. It even had wine cocktails to take your wine drinking experience up another level! As someone who only sticks to the wine she knows, this book helps you explore different wines and foods that will bring out its flavor. The pictures make the food look delicious and the directions for the recipes are easy to follow, so no extensive cooking skills are required.
Recipes I am definitely trying in the near future include:
Parmesan Roasted Chickpeas, Zucchini Fitters, Pork & Ricotta Meatballs, Champagne Pom Fizz, White Wine, Orange, & Mint Sangria, and Rosé & Peach Sangria.

For me, a wine lover who doesn't actually have much knowledge of wine and its pairings, Wine Time by Barbara Scott-Goodman is the nosh collection I've been looking for! I'm always searching for great bites to pair with wine and a Netflix binge (or maybe a party some day) and this book caters to exactly that. I've read and cooked out of my fair share of books and these recipes are as concise and foolproof as can be.

With plenty of vegetarian, carnivorous or pescatarian options, variety is abundant for even the pickiest of eaters. The Onion & Gruyère Tart with the suggested Champagne pairing really might become a monthly staple (if not more often) and Mussels with Chorizo & Breadcrumbs is elevated yet simple - bold flavors can often replace strenuous efforts.

Whether you're looking for ease or elegance, these recipes deliver as most are both effortless and polished. Seriously, pour a glass of vino, get in the kitchen (in that order) and make this food!

If your a host of some get together with friends and wine then this is a lovely book to behold. Wine Time pairs a specific wine to certain foods for a great evening.

What did I like? That cover is amazing and I absolutely love wine. This book does a smashing job of pairing wine with some lovely snacks and tidbits. Let’s be honest though you had me at the bruschetta chapter! The foods follow a Mediterranean diet from my opinion but don’t quote me.

Would I buy or recommend? If your really into Mediterranean foods paired with a specific wine then this is a great cookbook. I enjoyed the recipes but a lot of the recipes call for an expensive pallet. I’m much more low key but I loved to look through the recipes. Bruschetta is my favorite snack! If your a big host of friends then this is a great book! It has wonderful pictures but not every recipe gets a picture. Four stars!

I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review!

I am always looking for new ideas for snacks and appetizers, and Wine Time is a new cookbook that is helping me to reinvigorate my food and wine pairings.
There are over 70 recipes in this book that range from meats to finger foods to dips. We’re talking bruschetta recipes, roasted chickpeas (which my husband is super excited to try), warm spinach dip, and so much more. There is even a section filled with wine cocktail recipes so you can breathe new life into that part of your wine drinking as well.
As much as I love the recipes, which are super delicious, the wine pairings are done in the most practical and easiest way that I have ever seen in a wine pairing book. In making suggestions for pairing a wine with your recipe, they simply suggest a certain vintage type (chardonnay, shiraz, etc.) and I appreciate that so much. By not naming a brand, they have opened the door for the reader, and eater, to choose what fits within their budget.

A great selection of recipes, and the suggested wines to go with them. I especially like the description of the various cheeses. Some recipes have a little hard to find ingredients, but overall sound easy enough. Would recommend.

Wine Time is a lovely little cookbook that does exactly what it says on the tin - simple recipes meant for easy entertaining, developed to pair perfectly with different wines. I liked that the recipes weren't overly complex or involved, making it the perfect guide to reach for when you don't want to spend hours on prep. The recipes seem accessible to novice cooks while being tasty; the wine pairing recommendations are accessible as well, without any of the pretentious airs that wine publications can sometimes take on.

I would have appreciated an index of recipes by wine type instead of (or in addition to) a glossary. If you're building a menu around certain bottles instead of the other way around, it would be a sensible addition and would make sense for a cookbook all about wine pairings.

What a beautiful book!! The photographs in Wine Time by Barbara Scott-Goodman are gorgeous and the recipes look elegant without seeming intimidating. I can’t wait to make some of the dips and sauces as well as taste-testing that pimento cheese. Thank you to the publishers and author for the opportunity to review an advanced copy.

I really enjoyed looking through these recipes. They were fun and unique while still being simple enough to follow. I also loved all of the pictures of the food, it really helped me decide which recipes sounded/looked the best and set the stage for what everything was supposed to look like.

I definitely recommend this cookbook for anyone who would like to up their appetizer or cheeseboard game!

Wine Time 🍷 is a collection of recipes and fresh ideas for preparing delectable treats for all kinds of get-together, whether formal or informal and includes several dishes that will be suitable for all types of gatherings. The book offers wine pairing suggestions with various foods for wine lovers.

There are wine pairings for snacks and bites; Dips and Spreads, Cheese, Vegetables and so forth. A section is dedicated to cheese and present tips on how to create a cheeseboard as well as types of cheeses 🧀.

Another section shows you how to create a charcuterie board with cured meats, pâtés, and terrines accompanied by a variety of cheeses, nuts, olives🥜 🫒, pickles, dried and fresh fruits etc. The author also suggests what categories of meat to shop for as well as the wines that pair with charcuterie.

The last two chapters cover sauces & condiments such as cocktail sauce, marina, and Tzatziki, a yoghurt-based Greek condiment that is usually served with grilled meat and can be paired with Pinot Grigio or Chenin Blanc.

Subsequent chapters cover wine pairing suggestions with a selection of foods such as Bruschetta & Toasts; Seafood 🦞 🐠, meat, Sauces & Condiments; and wine cocktails 🍸

Wine cocktail recipes made with wine include Autumn Bellini made with Prosecco and pear juice 🍐 and pear brandy.

Thank you to Barbara Scott-Goodman, NetGalley, and Chronicle Books for the ARC of this book.

I loved this cookbook! My fried s and I love to have wine tasting nights so these recipes will go to very good use. What I liked best about this cookbook wasn't just the fact that these are recipes I actually want to make, but also the fact that they look like recipes I actually CAN make.

“Wine Time: 70+ Recipes for Simple Bites That Pair Perfectly with Wine” by Barbara Scott-Goodman would be a valuable addition to any kitchen or cookbook collection. It is perfect for anyone who enjoys entertaining and is interested in pairing a glass of good wine with interesting appetizers. I particularly like this book as we do not eat a traditional Christmas dinner at our house, opting instead for a series of tapas throughout the day - a cheese board, charcuterie, deviled eggs, fruit, meatball, seafood, and grilled vegetables. Now that my children are adults, so are the beverages. We have become more interested in wine and wine pairings, so this is a fantastic offering for us.

The recipes are creative but unpretentious and when possible, the author has suggested multiple wines that would complement the dish and has included “make-ahead” advice. I find it very useful that the index is broken down by both recipe, ingredients, and wine. If you have a few good bottles of pinot noir or a Chenin blanc that you received as a gift and you don’t know what to serve, you can consult the index for a list of recipes that would go well with those specific wines. Also, if you find a recipe that you want to try, the wine suggestions are flexible and give the reader the right vocabulary to use at their local wine store. The dishes are well-curated and organized, and while the photography is gorgeous, “Wine Time “ will not become just another coffee-table book. I received a temporary digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from the publisher, but I look forward to buying a hard copy. I imagine its pages will be a bit dog-eared and wine-splashed by this time next year.

You know what they say, it's 5 o'clock somewhere.

Simple this book is the perfect gift for someone who recently move out from their parents house so when they have people coming over they can prepare a nice evening, for their guest, or just because they love wine but they want to know how to pair the couple of glass for the treat yourself time.

The recopies goes from snacks to meat, seafood, sauces and some condiments, and even some cocktails.

Is simple and easy to understand, is not like the other books when you is too complicated to follow, this is simple and also is like "this goes so well with this wine" and I want to give it a try to everything.

I highly recommend it if you are wine lover, or if you want to learn to cook.

I really enjoyed reading this cookbook and testing out some of the recipes. Although I'm not hosting any events at this time I am really enjoying impressing my family with some of these recipes. I really look forward to hosting events again and showing off with my favorite recipes from this book like the Grilled Hangar Steak, Pork & Ricotta Meatballs, Avocado-Green Goddess Dip, and several of the drinks.

Each chapter section included a great selection of options of small bites / appetizer style foods. The photos went perfectly with the recipes and added a mouthwatering boost that made me want to try every one. The photos also gave me great ideas for how to plate things up beautifully.

The recipes were really easy to follow and I got some high praise at home when I dished them out.

The vast majority of the recipes in this book look like something I would actually want to make. The recipes are great to share with friends and they look like things I either have ordered at restaurants before or would be interested in doing so! There is a whole section on Bruschetta - what?! This is fabulous.

There are lots of wine flavors covered in this one, as well as a variety of recipes ranging from avocado dip to salmon to veggies to chicken and all around! I loved the pairings that she has suggested and will be trying out a lot of them!

Thanks to the author, Chronicle Books, and NetGalley for this fabulousness!

Wine Time: 70+ Recipes for Simple Bites That Pair Perfectly with Wine was a joy to read and review, and I'm sure will be loved by readers worldwide who'd like a range of fresh ideas for food to accompany a drinks party or informal get-together.
Recipes are sorted accessibly by category, covering a broad range of food types and styles, ranging from the classic (Onion & Gruyère Tart) to the more unusual (Grilled Snow Pea Skewers). Some recipes are very quick and simple finger food, while others are more complex, the result more akin to a small meal. There are also excellent "sidebar" sections on how to construct great cheese boards and charcuterie platters.
Each recipes begins with a contextual introduction paragraph, containing serving suggestions and a recommendation for the varieties of wine the product of the recipe is best suited to match.
The recipes are clearly written and simple enough that fairly inexperienced cooks will have no trouble in following the techniques and instructions given. The accompanying photographic illustrations are colourful and mouth-watering, never feeling contrived or unachievable.
I am reading and reviewing from Australia, and note that the style of recipes is broadly North-American, and an occasional ingredient that may prove difficult to obtain elsewhere (eg. Cherrystone, Littleneck or Quahog clams). However, the few such ingredients that appear all seem relatively straightforward to substitute. Also, unlike many American cookbooks, quantities are given in both imperial and metric units, which is brilliant!
The section at the end of the book, detailing a range of wine-based cocktails would be great inspiration for something a little different to try for a summer get-together with friends.
This is a well-written and user-friendly reference book, which would be a valuable and often-used addition to any entertainer's cookbook library. Wine Time would also make a fantastic housewarming gift or alternatively a welcome contribution for a cellar-stocking party or kitchen tea.
My thanks to the author, Barbara Scott-Goodman, publisher Chronicle Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this inspiring title. Cheers!
