Thanks NetGalley, BooksGoSocial and Nikki Lee Taylor for a copy to review.
A heart breaking intense story about motherhood, loss, grief, love, sacrifices, hope and second chances.
This is not a book you easily read or forget about, it's incredibly hard sometimes to go through some parts of it...the unimaginable pain of Sophie's loss and her crippling grief...the unthinkable horrors the sisters endured in that trailer not only by their criminal of a father but mostly by their indifferent mother who allowed it all.
I loved the writing style, the originality of the storyline and the characters building, I mean there wasn't stereotyping regarding the cheating husband, the evil mistress and the wife who must deserve it all..no, the characters came out as human as possible with their weaknesses, flaws, instincts and natural behavior.
The book didn't fall into a very clichéd ending that would have been easily acceptable considering how the seemingly unconnected characters paths crossed gravely.
The book's ending gives the reader couple of lines to think about, imagining how the characters will go on, is it really how their stories end?

OMG! Really awesome book. Great storyline. Great characters. The different lives colliding like they did was great. Hoping there’s another in the works?

This novel had quite a few twists and turns -- so many that it strains credibility -- but the twists are so juicy that I couldn't stop reading. The book touches on so many sources of pain -- addressing each with intelligence, empathy, and humanity. The author builds strength into each of her characters and helps us see different sides to them -- what are their motivations? However, the book never becomes preachy -- the whole way through, and especially at the end, it is a true thriller in women's fiction. Bastian is a kind character, and serves as a great sounding board, but this book really is about two women and their respective children. Parts are hard to read through, but it is a solid book and worth the exploration. The novel starts out with what seems like two people wholly unrelated and living separate lives but their paths converge in ways that are delicious for the reader. I want to read more from this author. Recommended reading!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. All opinions above are my own.

The Secrets we Keep by Nikki Lee Taylor is a suspenseful story about how secrets from the past can destroy our current life. This story details the events of 2 women, Madelyn-May and Sophie and how their lives intersect. Madelyn-May seems to have it all. She is a highly successful blogger who seems to have the perfect life. However, things are not as they seem in her life. She has a secret, painful past which will eventually catch up with her. Sophie is essentially a shut-in, grieving the loss of her husband and son. She has limited interactions with anyone and works at home and enjoys the attention of her boss, Bastian and her dog, Miss Molly. There are many unexpected twists and turns in this story. It will keep you guessing. This book is suspenseful until the very end with unexpected events. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The Secrets We Keep is a very intense, moving story with several twists. Very hard to put down, and hard to stop thinking about. The story tells of two women whose lives are very different and how they intersect. Give yourself enough time to finish this at one sitting because you won't want to put it down.

There are so many emotions in this heartbreaking suspense. With Sophie, who's grieving the loss of her son and husband in a car accident, crippled with anxiety and afraid to leave her home. With Madeline-May, who suffered years of abuse as a child and now is a model mother on social media, but struggles to connect to her children in real life. Then there's Bastian, who feels like his wife is farther and farther away since the twins were born. In a strange stroke of coincidence, he is caught between both women in the story.
I read this in one day! The suspense kept building and I couldn't wait to find out what happens next!

WOW! I LIKED THIS ONE! A great thriller with so much twists and turns! It would have been 5 star rating but it confused me at first with all the different narrators. So I read in a questioning state for the first few chapters, but as it started picking up, I started understanding more and then I couldn’t stop reading! Another reason for 4 stars is the ending let me down. I wanted it to end with the happy ending and it did, so some won’t be disappointed with that, but there’s a twist at the end that you won’t be expecting and it will leave you with your mouth wide open in shock. I was literally doing this ➡️ 😲😲😲 in my mind. Even though it was a good twist, I would rather have just left that out and let it end in last chapter. But it’s really good either way. Just my particular preference....Thank you to #NetGalley and the publishers of #TheSecretsWeKeep for the opportunity to read and review with my honest opinion.

I chose this book for the cover and I was not disappointed in the story either.
We meet Sophie and Madelyn-May and a mysterious Lacy - and through the pages of the book we get to know them and their stories. As the storyline progresses, it twists and turns and winds its way through the secrets both women have in their pasts and their presents. And then the ending, wow, what can I say? Not one that I would have seen coming - leaves me wondering if a sequel will follow, and it will be one I would want to read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me the chance to read this book.
