The ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.'

4/5 stars

This was really cute! When I read the title I didn't really think this book would actually give me tips for mindfulness and just lil tips on how to be a better and nicer person, but.. it did. In a nice, comforting and funny way.

I'm in no way a comic expert, so for a full review on that you're not going to get it from me. The file I got from Netgalley was very colorful and beautiful though, I hope the printed versions will turn out just as colorful and not let any of the beautiful coloring go to waste.

It's a great comic to introduce someone to mindfullness if they are really not with those self-help books, and would much rather have a nice comic. I think it could help people take those first few steps to being more mindful.

This was a great little graphic novel! I think that it would work excellently as an introduction to mindfulness, especially for children and teenagers as Gudetama's character design will easily catch their attention. However, there was an arc in it where an elderly man went from being angry all the time to suddenly being extroverted and greeting everyone. I think that it would've been better if we had an explanation as to why that was, as it felt very abrupt.

I would likely pick this book up for a person who doesn't know what mindfulness is, but is interested in learning the basics. I don't think I need it personally, but it would make a great gift!

This is an informative non-fiction graphic novel and a great introduction into mindfulness. I have intended to begin the process of becoming more mindful for a while, but I wanted to learn more about it first, this was a great place for me to start

This is a really cute book. It’s actually really great for laughs and it’s very good at bringing up some issues. I love that it keeps bringing up the mindfulness throughout the whole book. It’s a rather different approach to how to communicate to others.

I love all things Gudetama and this book is adorable. Aimed, I believe, at children or teenagers but suitable for anyone who either likes Gudetama or wants a quick and easy introduction to the topic/concept.

This. Was. Adorable! I loved the title, the illustrations, and the teachings. Not only were the characters creative & well-drawn to paint an accurate picture of moods and emotions, but the messages in the book were clear. As an adult in my mid-twenties, I wish something like this would’ve been available and popular as a young adult (pre-teen/early teen years) to people close to my age. This is a wonderful illustrated guide that explains your emotions are valid, and how you should frame situations differently/how the other party may be viewing them. Truly, more people need to learn these lessons earlier in their lives and more books like these need to be shared! Even as a adult, I took much away from these little illustrated lessons.

The title & the main character drew me in the most and I was very happy with this read. I hope to see more of Gudetama in the future!

Gudetama is such an adorable being. This graphic novel is the perfect pick-me-up read. It’s a beautifully illustrated feel good story about self love and being the best person you can be. Highly recommend. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher/author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

I need to pick this up once it's published! Browsing the "read now" section on Netgalley, I thought, huh, this could be useful, maybe? I'm not a mindful person by nature. The whole concept is a bit confusing to me. Turns out, a lazy egg and a guy in a gold bodysuit were able to enlighten me a little bit on the subject.
Yes, it's a comic, yes, it's a little goofy (as it should be!), but you know what? This is actually an excellent primer on the concept of mindfulness. It is perfect for people like me who have zero base knowledge on the subject (and who get a kick out of Sanrio characters). I'm going to try and take some of the points raised on board. It just might help!

Gudetama is a favorite among the kiddies and I’ve grown a huge amount of love for this lazy egg. This comic is cute and is a really good way to introduce the concepts of mindfulness to a younger audience and even older one too!

I received this eARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I've been a Sanrio fan since I was a small child, Hello Kitty and I are the same age! The cover just grabbed me.Gudetama is a lazy egg who loves nap - if that's not relatable I don't know what is....
Gudetama: Mindfulnesss for the Lazy is a graphic self-help book. I really enjoyed the illustrated examples. Wook-Jin Clark took the mystery of out mindfulness and made it fun!

This is the first book I read in 2021.
It's entertaining and really break down mindfulness in a simplest way. It truly is the guide for the lazy.

I like the design and the story flow and it touches many aspect in how we could implement the mindfulness.

One of the outtakes from this book is how we need not to be rushed, nor overthink yet be mindful to others too.

Thank you netgalley and oni press for the arc.

Gudetama and Nisetama are here to help teach you about Mindfulness in this delightful comic. There are many short strips focusing on different ways to be mindful, including saying hello strangers, returning lost items, meditating, and of course, napping! The artwork is bright and fun. I can definitely see this on my own bookshelf, and I may have learned a thing or two from my favorite lazy egg.
